Fight Pancreatic Cancer with the Official GTPlanet 2011 Automotive Calendar

Site Announcements December 23rd, 2010 by Jordan

The GTPlanet Forums are home to some incredible real-world photographic talent. Last year, we tapped in to that talent by putting together a calendar filled with some of the best automotive shots our members have taken throughout the year. Today, I’m proud to unveil GTPlanet’s official 2011 Calendar, available now for $25. I am even more proud to announce that all proceeds will be donated to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, funding private research, patient support, and raising awareness of this horrible disease.

You may recall my brief blogging hiatus earlier this summer, which was actually prompted by the loss of one of my closest family members to pancreatic cancer. I saw first-hand how quickly it can painfully destroy the lives of even the healthiest among us in only a few months. I want to do all that I can to help fight it, and I hope you do, too.

In addition to all of the calendar sales, between now and December 25th at 11:59 EST, 100% of all revenue generated by GTPlanet Premium subscriptions will be donated to pancreatic cancer research. As a Premium subscriber, you’ll be able to enjoy the site ad-free along with many other perks. Upgrade your account in just a few minutes right here (no PayPal account is required). If you’re already a Premium subscriber, now would be a great time to give a subscription as a gift. Just click anyone’s username in the forums and select “Give GTPremium” to upgrade their account.

Thank you to everyone in our forums who helped organize this year’s calendar, thanks to all of our photographers who have graciously donated their work for this cause, and thanks to all of you for your continued support. Have a great Christmas!

What you are doing is very humane and great Jordan. I had a brother, he passed away because of cancer. He was my only brother, so this means a lot to me. I’m going to save up very soon and participate in this great cause. And for those who say it’s expensive, remember, the main purpose isn’t the calendar, it’s the cause. And when it makes a difference in other people’s lives, then that is a priceless gift that you are giving by simply paying 25$.

I wish I would’ve saw this before Christmas. I would’ve bought some for gifts. I did buy one though for my office.

Thanks for doing this for PC. I’ve just lost an aunt to this terrible disease a few months ago and have lost another one some years ago. All cancer is bad but I’ve never seen anyone suffer as much as they have. I am sorry for loss, Jordan.

Anyway, I don’t have a ‘verified’ PayPal account so it looks like I’ll be missing out on the donations……. =(

Ah well, good luck anyway. =)

I’ve been gathering some friends, and I’ll be ordering 10 of these babies within the next few days.

It’s really a very high quality product with some great work from many contributing members, a must-have if you’re an auto fan, and the cause more than justifies the purchase.

BTW, thanks for putting this announced on the front page, Jordan. It will certainly have A LOT more visibility and will surely exponentially increase the money gathered for the cause.

This is great Jordan, a lot of my family members have died of cancer and my grandmother has pancreatic cancer right now. If I can get a hold of $25, I’ll defiantly donate and buy a calender, it’s just that times are really though right now.

I’m sorry to hear about that – enjoy every moment that you can with your grandmother this Christmas. Even if you don’t have $25, you can still donate any amount you want directly to PanCan. It may be nice to give a donation in your grandmother’s name as a gift to her, for example.

That is a bit expensive don’t you think, Jordan? Maybe 10 bucks? Dude, I know it’s a great cause, but I’ve never seen a calendar for 25 dollars.

I wish we could sell them for $10, but it’s not that simple. These calendars are very low volume – they’re printed “on demand” as you order them by RedBubble, who also handles payment processing and shipping. As such, they “charge” me $20.90 for each calendar sold. I only get to keep $4.10 from each sale.

..oh don’t even worry about those extra few fiat dollars, Mr. coolfiat. Cause we all know that they are, well… fiat.

Buy the calender. It’s worth more than a few greenbacks.

This is great, although I can’t help thinking it would be a whole lot better if all the images were from GT5. :/

That would be great, but GT5 Photomode images are the property of Sony Computer Entertainment and can’t be sold or used commercially by anyone else.
