Assetto Corsa has long been one of the most popular games discussed in the GTPlanet Forums, and one topic in particular has always stood out. The Assetto Corsa PC Mods General Discussion thread is one of the most active in our community, boasting over 30 million views and 123,000 messages alone.
It has become an important resource for the Assetto Corsa fanbase and shows no signs of slowing down. The game has evolved into quite a sandbox, as users have figured out how to modify the PC version of the title with custom cars, tracks, and features.
However, these modifications can be large files, and finding somewhere to host them can be a challenge. File hosting sites are notoriously slow and unreliable, or make you jump through hoops to actually start a download. It’s a frequent problem we see here in our own community, as files expire and links break.
To help solve the problem, I’m excited to announce the launch of GTPlanet Downloads, a new platform to make it easier than ever to share and download PC game mods. Here are a few highlights:
- Free, unlimited file hosting: There are no download limits or fees for extra features.
- Public downloads: No registration required! Downloads are available to everyone — just share a link to your file and they can download it even if they do not have a GTPlanet account.
- 10GB file sizes: Host even the largest game mod files!
- High-speed downloads: Our files are hosted on enterprise-grade servers with multi-gigabit connectivity for users around the world.
The download system is fully integrated with the GTPlanet Forums, including user reviews, file versioning and updates, and dedicated discussion threads.
Over 200 mods have already been uploaded and downloaded tens of thousands of times from the platform during open beta testing. I would like to personally thank all of you who reached out with feedback and bug reports during the development process.
While Assetto Corsa is clearly the most popular modding platform in our community, we look forward to expanding to host mods for other PC games in the future. Please head to the comments and share what games you think we should support next!
