Gran Turismo 5 Playable in France, TGS Rumblings

paris-games-festival-gran-turismo-5-smaller

If you’re in France, head on over to the Paris Game Festival for your chance to play on the Gran Turismo 5 build that we saw running at GamesCom last month. The show is open to the public September 18-20. Rumors are coming in fast, however, that Sony representatives on the show floor are confirming GT5’s release date will be announced next week at the Tokyo Game Show, and the playable demo there will feature the Ferrari Enzo.  Thanks to user jujub for the report and photos/videos!

“NotASonyEmployee” got it right. I for one would not even believe the devs if they put out a tentative date until I hold GT5 in my hands.

I think we are all to eager to hear “good news” when a release date is announced especially for a title such as GT5. We may even disregard “Bad News” relating to a closer release date because it hampers our hopes.

I was starting to get worried with all of the delays surrounding GT5 to the point were I figured it would only be released on the PS4. Shit, I think I just jinxed the release date.

“Want some bad news from an insider ?
GT5 won’t come out on december 4th, 11th, 14th or even 29th as some of you may have heard/read. It will be on sale in the first quarter of 2010, most probably in march.
I wish this information would be wrong but i’m afraid it’s not, because it comes from a Sony employee…”

I wish I had a quarter for everytime a false rumor supposedly got started from a sony employee. Heck, sometimes they really are sony employees, though sometimes I do wonder if the employee in question is the janitor having fun at our exspense, lol.
Point is, a quarter for every “credible sony source” rumor, and i’d have enough money to buy PolyP myself, and release the dang game allready.
Personnaly, I don’t care if the voice of God speaks directly to me with a release date, when it comes to GT, I don’t believe it untill the game is in my hand.

@GT PRO, thanks for telling me about that ps beyond site, never been to it before and the first thing i see on it is a story backing me up on what i said about a 25th september release date

the 2 major things about the video are- 1 the car gets t-boned and actually spins out. (something you couldn’t do in prologue)

2-when the Subaru go’s the wrong way and hits the other cars there was NO role over (to my surprise).

I must say something about damage:
    1) We have two type of damage.
    2) mechanical damage is real when car hit wall car performance are changed (acceleration is slower, top speed is lower, car handling is changed)
    3) visual damage is bad! On video from France guy hit wall with 200 km\h and just broke a front bumper?!? then he drive car in wrong way and hit AI car then his hud and doors was damaged, but he continue race!!!!
I think that ALL CAR WILL HAVE MECHANICAL DAMAGE but only RACE CAR WILL HAVE MECHANICAL AND VISUAL DAMAGE.
Sorry for my English I”m from Serbia.

Jujub has posted many videos from the Paris Game Festival in the forum thread, which I linked to in the original post. There is nothing new to see from what we saw at GamesCom (nor is it in as good a quality), so I will not be posting them up here.

Jordan, are you sure jujub meant that the ezo would be playable in tgs. As it can be interpreted otherwise also. See the thread..

“I thought it was already stated that Ferrari didn’t want their cars to be shown damaged. O.o”

What, like in Forza, and PGR? :o/ Give it a rest – it’s got nothing to do with manufacturers not wanting their cars to be shown damaged.

    @Alan,

If that is true we would expect GT5 hitting the European market within 6 days then, don’t think so.
Wasn’t GT5 supposed to be release global world wide?

How reliable is vgreleases dot com anyway?
(there source is psbeyond dot com btw)

TGS is the day after my birthday, so the money I get will definitely go towards a pre-order of this game if a release date is announced!

  12. jBat17

@ save your money, pass on shift. it’s crappy.. not a racer, not a sim.. the physics will make you laugh and cry.. and playing it will destroy your Gran Turismo skills.

i’m already thinking about trade it in for ninja gaiden sigma 2 two weeks from now. kinda paranoid that the gamestop guy will look at me and think i’m a dumbass for trading the game to early.

  13. Alan

Just want to point out that vgreleases dot com had the release date for the last while set at the end of november they have now just changed that for the 25th of this month in europe

Also if u go on to your account information on the xmb bar on your ps3 and go into the services list and find the ferrari california game pack that u downloaded it has an expiry date on it of guess what, the 25th of the month

  14. Super T

I’ve a feeling Kaz (I assume he’s attending) and/or the Sony reps will have trouble getting out of the venue if there’s not a solid release date set at TGS!

    Talk about milk the anticipation.

  15. Flagmo-T

Release date is near :o) But the question is still how near!..? but this is at least the first real banging news, regarding how close we really are to a genuine release date (I hope Hehe)

    Dream ExTreme.

Its been an eternity as it seems and its almost here. It seemed like a concept, Gran Turismo but we’ll soon get an idea of what the not to distant future lies ahead for us. This is it, are you ready? o__0

  17. Berlino Bear

Wouldn’t it be great if they had changeable weather conditions at the TGS. Some rain and Fog would make walking around the exhibition hall really fun. It would also be great if any people walks backwards, they have reversing lights.

  18. Petey

As much as i was a fan of NFS i think it ends here for me. I won’t spend $60 on shift, I rather just be patient and wait for GT5 :)

  19. Shokz

You’ll most likely hate the handling model.

I know a lot of people hate the model from GRiD, even though I quite like it… But, yeah, I think overall it’s a bit worse than GRiD’s, I can’t believe there were some idiots that said it would have proper simulation settings and laughed at me in the Shift thread when I said otherwise. If you think turning a corner means half drifting half skidding, sure…

Well, anyway; hah! I was oh so right.

  20. Mustangmiha

Wait, what, GT5 is coming out on sale at same time when TGS will be? And what’s wrong with NFS SHIFT game, I’ll buy PS3 bundle pack with it.

  21. Nomino

Told you it would just be the con version…would people listen? No.

lol @ those buying SHIFT. Half decent also equals half crap.

  22. FunkyDunky

I’m getting Shift tomorrow anyway. It will tide me over for a couple of months. It looks half decent.

    Oh and NHL 10! ;0)

  23. Obli

I hope TGS has a playable demo which shows a bit more than the one at GamesCom. I’d like to see (or know) what we can expect in GT5. Release date will be great to hear at long last!
