Kazunori Yamauchi Joins GT Academy 2012 EU Finalists at Race Camp as Competition Intensifies

After the video update on the first two days of the European GT Academy 2012 Race Camp, the competition has intensified and eliminations have been handed down from the motorsports stars on the judging panel.

Day 3 of Race Camp saw the beginning of diverse driving challenges to test two extremes of car control, including open-wheeled single-seater formula cars and rally-prepped Nissan 370Zs on Silverstone’s dirt course.

Day 4 saw a new “first” for Race Camp, as the remaining finalists left Silverstone on a trip to the Santa Pod drag racing circuit. They also faced one of the competition’s interesting pit stop challenges, where they were presented with a Nissan 350Z GT4 car facing various types of mechanical problems they had to solve.

Race Camp’s Day 5 brought a series of highs and lows, starting out with tough dog-fight races for the “bottom” two competitors from each region, with the losers going home. The remaining players got a special surprise in the form of a visit from Gran Turismo series creator Kazunori Yamauchi, who talked with them and answered their questions.

More pictures and details, including the names of the finalists eliminated from Race Camp so far, have all been posted on GT Academy’s Facebook page. With just a few more days to go, the competition is about to get even more difficult. As always, good luck to everyone remaining!

They should implement a drag track in gt6 and with accurate times, and maybe with an online leader board for each pp class

They NEED to add one. It appears foolish that there isn’t one, yet there’s an amazingly accurate Nordschleife.

“Kazunori and PD working hard on GT6, improving aspects highly critisized by their most reasonable fans, following reasonable suggestions and focusing on delivering the best driving experience forged by its fandom’s feedback possible. GT6, soon to come by **/**/**** News on manufacturers, features, tracks and improvements include in the game will be disclosed monthly according to Kazunori Yamauchi himself…”

Now that’s what I would love to hear. Honestly, GT Academy can go to hell.

GT Academy can be there…but AMEN to the rest man!!

All games in the market are teasing fans…making forums in their respective sites to get some feedback and give then what fans want.

I know that PD comes here to see GTPlanet…but they can do it using Gran-turismo.com by implementing a proper FEEDBACK section (like the one we have here) but in the right order or in the one that they want.

About GT Academy…go team Iberia (Portugal/Spain)!!!!

If you hate GT Academy so much. You hate motorsport in general. If you don’t care about those, you shouldn’t care about Gran Turismo. Now go play your Call of Duty game and Need for Speed seriously!

      @magsolid

LOL! You sound like me when I haven’t taken my morning coffee!

So you can go to sleep at ease tonight, let me tell you that I don’t hate GT Academy. I’m just indiferent to it, because like YOU and many others, we don’t have a chance at it. I was probably playing Gran Turismo even before you were born, so understanding how much I love the game goes beyond your comprehension. That same love is what made me say “GT Academy can go to hell.”

You’re just repeating a comment that many others have said when they feel like contradicting someone just to sound smarter. But I do understand as it is a natural social behaviour amongst young males in today’s society. I myself have fallen a couple of times.

And just so you know it, I don’t like generic copy-paste crap like CoD. The real FPS genre died in the N64 era. As for NFS, I do buy them because of my love for cars, but all of them except for Porsche Unleashed and Undercover have been a massive dissapointment as games in general. But probably you know, since I imagine you loved to drive a green Eclipse with spinners, a massive wing and neon lights.

^ Its cool Husky I feel ya. GTAcademy is cool IMO. Ireally appreciate what it has done for L O, JaM, J Train. (My new nicknames for them lol no offence meant) though I now wish other manufacturers could be involved giving us different regional Academy cars (Euro Academy would drive Academy BMW 1, 3, , 6? series car for example) but you my brother have a point.

I would hope the feedback (positive intelligent) gets through to them and, they make an effort to implement some real diverse gameplay changes, while still making game accessible to the casual racer.

    5. Dekropttiv

@HuskyGT I love you. I thought I was the only one who felt that about GT Acadamey. I hate going on GTPlanet and seeing the newest story related to GTA.

    6. another_jakhole

I hate not seeing GT6 related news while there’s a lot of GT Academy news (I wonder why), but you don’t see me complaining about it in the comments section of all places. Unlike the seasonal events, our feedback about how much “we” hate GT Academy will do nothing but unnecessarily take up space.

Not to be insulting, but saying “this is what we want to hear” is like a GF asking her guy if her outfit makes her look fat. You’re being too wishful for something that will mean nothing unless it included new information about GT6’s features. Telling us about what new cars will be in GT6 is hardly enough to satisfy people, especially me.

  3. Swagger897

it would be nice to know if anyone has any friends in this course that could tell us if there are DLC’s coming or news of anything, but GTacademy i believe is a total diff branch…….

R-18 ULTRA AND E-TRON…. WE NEEEEEEEDDDDDDDD

    1. R1600Turbo

Considering the nature of the competition, I highly doubt the first thing on their minds was “OMG DLC!”

  4. another_jakhole

I’m thinking Silverstone related things is the yet to be announced information about the European GT5 Academy Edition.

Let’s hope for a transcript to that Q&A with Kaz. It’d be such a bummer if there isn’t going to be one.
