Kazunori Yamauchi’s ESPN Interview
December 11th, 2008 by JordanAn ESPN interview with Gran Turismo series creator Kazunori Yamauchi from SEMA last month slipped under the radar (thanks for the heads-up, Patrik), probably due to the lack of any news or interesting information. The interviewer is actually a writer for ESPN’s motorsports division and is not part of the games industry, so we can cut him slack for not asking deeper questions about the future of the series. Still, he managed to get some good quotes from Yamauchi-san:
“We just had a 10th anniversary event in New York where we displayed all the Gran Turismo games from GT1 to GT5 Prologue, and GT1 kind of looks like an old Atari Pong game,”
“I did hear of one person who set up a room dedicated to Gran Turismo with a 200-inch screen and surround sound and everything,” Yamauchi marveled. “There are crazy people like that out there.“

I know what you’re thinking, Ralph, but don’t get too excited! :P That guy is just playing Gran Turismo 4’s Grand Canyon rally stage.
