A series of special new Seasonal Events have just been announced for Gran Turismo 5, which feature the prize cars earned in the GT Academy 2012 mini-game.
The first event has just gone live, and features one race and one time trial in the Nissan Leaf G (GT Academy Edition) ’11:

New events will be released each week, with “special prizes” available for players who earn a 3rd place and bronze trophy result in each event, and yet another “bonus prize” for who achieve the first place and a gold trophy. My thoughts exactly. :) We need those kind of cars upgrating to premium for sure. They deserve it and we derserve too. No need for those identical cars. Replace those ones with one Toyota Chaser, a Nissan Pulsar GTI-R and so one from other contries that aren’t identical.

If there’s a Spec 3.0 i’d like to see: The elimination of all the Standars and just keep some respectable cars and upgrade them to premium? Because that would leave more space for more improvements, such as more updates, new events, new features, DLC (more cars, photo locations, tracks), implement a new tyre system in wich i can do (For Example): buy Pirelli tyers for my Ferrari, add real tyre Makes with real stats ’cause the actual system is too generalized as well as the TCS, ABS etc… i would like to use the real car settings, YOU GET THJE POINT RIGHT?

Honestly e30 freek, I couldn’t agree more with you about the standard cars. What’s the point? Its such a waste of time and resource to upgrade them, they’re outdated and can be replaced with newer cars. I want to see some 2011, 2012 and 2013 cars, as well as some new classics cars that aren’t in GT.
Such as replacing that old Mini Cooper classic with the 1962 Morris Mini Cooper S with its rally version the 1964 Morris Mini Cooper S Works Rally.
I just want Spec 3.0 to be what everyone had wanted, especially the Event Creator which is highly needed to keep us playing for a long time till GT6 comes. :)

I agree with you, i dont want PD to upgrade all the skylines for example…, but upgrade some classical/supercars such as the Jag XJ220, the Minolta Toyota, Speed 12, all Lambos (i dont like to see Countach being Standard) and ofcourse the Veyron and many more! + the event creator XP
Skylines is what GT does – don’t forget that this is a Japanese company and Skylines are very important there.
What about all the standards that people have collected – hink about it, just deleting those with this spurious Spec III wishlist isn’t going to make any of them happy – nor would it be really practical on GT5.

No, Pit Crew that’s not what I was saying. If you still have the GT Academy demo downloaded then click options (triangle) on the XMB of the game icon. Then scroll down the side menu to information, under this heading you will find an expiry date of 2013 for the actual game demo to be played until. Which is obviously wrong because the GT Academy demo has ended and no longer allows for any use of its time trial functions.

I have to agree! First the GT Academy as a downloadable demo should be completely removed from the PSN store. Second it makes no sense that if you check on the GT Academy icon on the PS3 dashboard using triangle it is written that the expiry date for the demo is like January 2013. I thought the same thing, that until the expiry date it would still work. I wanted to keep it for driving the Motegi, which I had to buy instead (wonder if that DLC track had anything to do with their reason to make the game obsolete).

I downloaded the gt academy game after this was released (I didn’t want to do it as competition when it was happening) but then when it had FINALLY downloaded it said it had finished. I thought it was like the time and drift trails where even when they’re finished you can still do them and recieve prize money, you’re just not entered into the leaderboards. Shame, would have liked to do these but I can’t so doesn’t matter.

Restoration tickets. It may change with future events. Oh, a matte paint too. Random gear and a level ticket for Golding both events. Not bad. Worth borrowing a car if needed IMO. Total credits worked out to 1.8 mil for about ten minutes of racing.
You can re-earn 600K in under 4 minutes by rerunning the Autumn Ring event. Credits only, the prizes are one time awards.

I got a lvl 0 ticket ror golding both but not sure if its same for everyone .
Problem solved… used my other account to send myself a car. Then used my real account to receive all items and the 2 GT Academy cars were also delivered. Thank God, gave myself a scare there though.
I made a horrible mistake! As always GT5 does something with a time limit, like the GT Academy Events… when I’m 2hrs in on finally doing the 9hr A-Spec Endurance race. So I copied my (suspended race) game save file to an external HD. Then thought I could try the Leaf challenge. Then I copied back the suspended race file and continued my 9hr race. The problem occurred when I thought I would go back again to try the other file and my 2 GT Academy cars were showing up as gifts but I could not receive them at all. So I can’t move them back to the delivery truck even. Let alone put them in my garage to drive! It’s because the log shows I already received them and drove them. But this is a copied save file from before receiving the cars! SCREWED out of prize cars I WON
I’ve done something similar with Bspec credits. I share between accounts and I learned the hard way a time or two about careful use of the thumb drive. I too thought I goofed up the academy cars, but they were still in ticket form on a reload. Phew!

Granturismo 4 was the best I think I loved the menus the driving park and the license tests were even FUN and gt4 had the best track selection ever, even by today’s standards I think gt4s track selection was super impressive i hope pd play their previous games and realise where they are going wrong instead of comparing it to forza and saying it needs to be like this they need to go the time machine

GT5 is great for an unfinished project. And I’m not saying that to insult PD and GT5 – it IS an unfinished product, (well, at least by GT standards) that is that, but I’m sure PD already knows this. In fact, I’m sure they already knew that GT5 was screwed as a complete GT game as soon as Sony gave them a forced release; why else would they have moved workforce onto GT6 before GT5 was even released?
The problem I have: PD isn’t doing simple things that can VASTLY improve GT5’s gameplay and life span. Cars and tracks are nice – I’ll accept those. But more events are things we’re needing right now – things that actually give us something to do for extended periods of time.
And as for “gt6 is a world away” – it may not be, considering the rumored time frame we’re getting of the PS4. I could EASILY see GT6 being a launch title. And two years is plenty of time. I’d be pleased is simply what GT5 was supposed to be, just with a couple more tracks and cars, a more vibrant car list, and every feature gets several spotlight events and features. Maybe add livery editor. These aren’t what I’m saying it WILL be, but I SINCERELY hope it is. I don’t think it’s possible for PD to make a game worse than GT5, they really can’t go backwards from where we are now. And it still amazes me that we still stay in the competition of racing sims with an unfinished game. For that, PD deserves a great big pat on the back.

Realize that everyone has different view points. If you think GT5 is an untouchable game with no competition, fine. But putting down people who don’t think the same is ridiculous.
Just saying, but the king of game console racing games is Need for Speed. That’s not my opinion, do some research. If you want an ultra realistic driving simulator then you have to go to a pc. For a console racing game, I’d say GT is doing pretty well in the realism department.
Look it up though, PD has sold more copies of GT then T10 has Forza in each release, as I recall. GT needs better advertising if it wants to stay on top of Forza. EA has sold way more of each release of NFS it’s ridiculous.they have a hold of the market. Do I think GT is better than NFS? Oh Hells yeah. So I think GT is aimed towards a narrower market. We the racers, care about a more technical game than evading police cars through urban environments. That’s why we like GT, or at least I hope so anyways.

There are plenty of games on the PC which are Free-to-play and once paid for and even them, also more than a year old are doing updates every Friday, and its updated content that the gamers ALWAYS want, its the constant disappointment from PD that are making GT5 hardcore fans SO angry, purely because it happens too often now and the GT5 hardcore fans can only take so much disappointment until they spill their anger which is what they doing now.

Just ran these events. Gift ticket is a zero level. The other overhaul tickets are untradeable. The first one can be repeated for credits only, no extra tickets :( 600k w/ 200% bonus is not bad for 5 min, but I’ve run it twice and I’m already bored with it. I’ve put my tuned leaf on my primary acct it anyone wants to borrow it.

Yeah, now they are really rubbing salt into the wounds for those who couldn’t even download Academy in their region.
Hold on PD has more than enough issues getting things up and running, discrimination against a certain country or people is by far a ridiculous notion. Think about the legal issues they have to clear and sponsorship and all that jazz especially in some places, like AUS for some reason has some of their weirdest rules apart from Japan about things. Back up and rethink your statement, what sense would it make for PD to discriminate against any country when they release their game in as many markets as possible? It’s all about being able to hold the GT Academy event and well in the land down under it’s just not been finalized and since it’s pretty ridiculous to have people fly out from AUS to participate if AUS was included under Europe banner. AUS has it’s pluses but also it’s minuses as it is far removed from any other mainland. Other regions are just not accelerated enough, some have political issues and others just aren’t feasible to do so. Give it time and we’ll see how far PD goes with GT Academy, it was smaller when it started, it’s growing to include more and more countries.
THAT, and Japan hasn’t had a GT Academy yet.

I am in a country that most coudn’t even find in the world map and I just finished the GT Academy Leaf seasonals. Two days ago I got my S15 Silvia too. I can’t wait for my racing suit!
In my case, there is no PSN for my country so I’ve always had a US account and it has been my only one. For others, you could easily create an alternate account for a country that could participate in GT Academy. It’s not something I would do, since I find it rediculous to have more than one account if you’re the only owner of the PS3, but it’s a solution.
Maybe next year, guys.

You see, by distributing the GT Academy cars over a period of 8 weeks and having special events for them, PD has successfully delayed the need to release DLC to satisfy people for two months!

GT Academy WAS actually available to most countries that have the PlayStation Store, you did not need to create a new account under a country who was part of the competition. It was not available in all countries from the start, but they fixed that on June 1st.

@77: Uh, ungrateful? Yeah, sure, if the game was free. But a lot of people payed real money to get GT5. PD should be grateful to consumers for keeping them in business.
I get tired of the people complaining about the DLC, be it content, costs, etc. – it is this simple: you like it, you buy it. You don’t like it, you don’t buy it. In this case it was a DLC that was a gift if you completed GTA 2012 – if you did, you get the DLC and the ability to participate in this events; if not, you’re shut out from them unless you borrow a friend’s ride for them.
It is not like PD is putting a gun to our heads and saying, “you must buy this”, but people cannot get mad when they are locked out of events because they don’t have certain equipment/tracks that were offered as DLC for a small price. If you buy the DLC, it kinda shows support for the game (See Forza 4 for this example as this is one of the reason Turn 10 releases constant DLC). If you don’t buy it, it shows a waining interest, and the chances of new DLC is reduced. But again, this was a free DLC – special events were created for it and the people that did not download GTA 2012 chose not to and are complaining now that they cannot participate? SMH…….
@Progress823 I agree with you; I think the price of the DLC is fantastic. You paid $3 to get a bunch of new helmets and suits with the Racing Gear Pack. Guess how much one fireproof racing suit from Alpinestars costs? $1,350 for the GP Pro suit, and that’s not even their top of the line model. Let’s be glad we didn’t have to pay that.

To those saying that you could have just made an eligible account to download the academy that may be true but it’s not an “official” thing to do, is it? Just like those that live in a country without PSN but create an account for somewhere else. It’s possible but not a proper way to do things.

Bro I live in South Africa where GTA 2012 wasn’t available either and I created a US PSN account just to get the game and played GTA 2012 on my South African account, couldn’t go through to the next stages but I am getting the GTA prize cars because I got gold in everything. Crappy I couldn’t compete but I still got the (pointless) Leaf and Silvia so far

You could still play and get the cars but not compete past the last round, so if you wanted these (pointless) cars, you could of got them, I know because I did it
For what were considered “useless cars”, people sure are mad over not getting them or being able to compete in these new seasonals. Oh by the way, these are for people who golded the rounds and won the cars (like me), not for people who made it to the finals. Your anger is severly missplaced.
I don’t think it would be financially possible for PD to have a GT Academy on EVERY continent. Heavens above, the program is already costing them tens of millions of dollars annually.

If it is so, I really didn’t realize it back then… And even if I did, I might not have played if it was only to get the cars and not any money (GT money) prize… Or maybe I would have played, but anyway, I will have to borrow the cars now.
Great that we’re getting new (types of) seasonal events, but I couldn’t use my PS3 during GT Academy, so where does that leave me?

I missed the GT Academy. I was offline for a long time. Is there a way to get the cars after this event was closed? Otherwise I can’t take part…
Unfortunately the GT Academy minigame doesn’t work anymore so there is no way to get them. And they are untradeable. It’s kind of a shame because it was suppose to last at least until next year.
You can borrow them from a friend.
