Video: First Look at New GT6 Track, Circuito de la Sierra

sierra-track

Polyphony Digital hosted a special event at their Tokyo offices today which featured some friendly competition between Super GT drivers. The event was streamed live on NicoNico, and revealed the newest track coming to GT6: Circuito de la Sierra.

The new circuit, based around the town of Zahara in the Andalusia region of southern Spain (and not far from Photo Travel location, Ronda), was first previewed during a live stream event from PlayStation’s NA headquarters back in January, but hasn’t been mentioned since that time.

The track finally appears closer to release, as the live stream from Tokyo today revealed our first look at gameplay footage, as recorded by GTPlanet member fagnerpc.

circuito-de-la-sierra-mapGTPlanet member “dogw10” managed a closer look at the course map for the new track.

According to Japanese member “BRING MORE TUNA” who also watched the stream, GT6 Update 1.12 is coming next week and will finally release the track to the public. It will also reportedly include “Quick Match” online racing features, new Vision GT cars, and a “new dashboard instrumentation option”. Stay tuned for more…

Does anyone Know if this will be a full Circuit track, or Just Series of Short Time Trial Sections?
Similar to the Good Wood events?

I’m hoping that it’s a Full Circuit that we can race Laps on…

    1. MeanElf

Should be a whole track. I don’t think there is a single other instance where only sections are used, except in the license tests. Goodwood Hillclimb being a point-to-point is just one section in the first place.

    2. Amac500

It will be the full track. When we originally found out about it we were told it would be the longest track in Gran Turismo, even longer than the 24h Nurburgring layout. It can’t be the longest track in the game if we can’t do full laps, so don’t worry there’s no need for concern :D

  2. David Brooks

Is this track the same thing as what was previously dubbed zahara or is this something different? My recollection was that zahara was going to be 3 or 4 times longer than the nurburg ring

  3. MeanElf

In the first picture, I never really understood why anyone would wear a helmet and gloves while looking at the screen. Immersion?

    1. 0r3n

The helmet is there in case he falls off that really cheap looking chair –

Looks like the folks at PD spent all their money on the three screen set-up and couldn’t afford any decent chairs.

    2. MeanElf

I remember seeing in Kazunori-san’s office that he has a normal chair with a wheel bolted to his desk as set up.

    3. sayba2th

Probably for promo puposes Elf that would be my thoughts possibly gloves to prevent blisters on the inside of the thumbs. Other than that maybe where your coming from and you are correct with Kaz’s office and the normal chair. I agree JP, this does not make any sense that there is no proper rig. I was expecting prior to the office shots a while ago that there would have been some kind of hydralic snorting beast with a Fanatec CSR Elite kit applied sitting in there but anyways……

  4. wudy201

Wow after seeing that I can understand why it took some time. I dont care what anybody says that track looks good and there is quite a lot of detail especially the backround detail that looks amazing. Also it says in the update we will get vision cars I was wondering is that a typo or are we getting multiple vision cars andi missed some info. Im guessing its the ft-1 but didnt see anything about another. I heard rumors about Alfa Romaos vision and a rumor about the mini cooper vison. The nismo gtr im guessing is just going to be released as another car non vison like the m4 and how the youtube gtr were released or am i just loco

    1. TeamCZRRacing

I hope it’s the FT-1s, but I remember that files related to the Alfa Romeo VGT were included in 1.10. Then again the FT-1s were announced as coming in September. Could it be both?

    2. TeamCZRRacing

And yes, the level of trackside detail is INSANE. Definitely can’t wait to drive on it in my Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta! Talk about being surrounded by beauty… O_O

    3. wudy201

Yeah I just feel like its a track thats perfect for crusing on at dusk right before the sun totally disappears with crystal clear skies with the sevenblade, xbows, rocket or that audi autounion(i think thats right) pretty much any open top car. If only gt would get some old school open top racers like the aston dbr1, testa rossa 250, cobra, canf think of the names but that old mercedes and lotus that resemble the dbr1, also the old d type jags and heck that maseratti that just won the gt award at pebble beach would feel right. I could think of a few more but you get my drift, Id probobly even run that small redbull junior around. Now im kinda getting excited for this update.

  5. slidinsidewayz

Oh would you look at that. Its the track that was suppose to be released at the end of February. I for 1 will not be getting my hopes up for this. To be honest I may actually see gt7 before any track editor or new tracks. After all weren’t we suppose to get new cars and track every month? Smh…

    1. TeamCZRRacing

Except for last month, we’ve been getting them on a regular basis for a while now. Or have you not turned on your PS3 in the last four months?

    2. MeanElf

There has only been the one mini bundle of track versions along with the senna content, but certainly a number of cars. I think though that slidin’sideways couldn’t have been paying attention between then and now, as it was the advertising arm of Sony that promised the tracks and cars per month, not PD.

    1. Amac500

Also, I hope that dashboard option is so you can pick the unit of measure for cars with onboard telemetry in the cockpit view. Like certain Le Mans cars or the LFA for example, the onboard telelmetry in the cars is always in kph, and I would like to be able to make it mph.

  6. Fire Yoshi

HuskyGT never gets tired of requesting for Fuel/Tire consumption, and I will never get tired of requesting for a larger garage limit.

Please PD, give us at least 1000. :(

    1. HuskyGT

Come on, PD!! Tire and Fuel Consumption in Arcade!!! And… a larger garage too!! :D

Simple stuff, but totally a game changer.

    2. Fire Yoshi

Game changers indeed. I wouldn’t mind the 500 car limit if the stockyard didn’t suck so bad…it could have been implemented better. And I would use Arcade Mode more often if there were more ways to customize it.
We need an event generator of some sort like GT2 had where you could win money out of it, but with way more options.

  7. toospiciecc

Looking forward to a new track witch is a new challenge to test my skills.
    Dashboard options? Interesting!!!!

  8. draggerlane

This is the same footage we saw back in January of the track that they promised us to get in February. I’ll believe it when I see it.

    1. Amac500

No it isnt, this is completely different. In February we had a short trailer with the Toyota FT1 on the track. The is footage recorded of a gaming rig with the game on it, and the car it shows is the Ferrari 288. And you know its recent because the 288 has a driver number on ot , and that feature was just added in the last update. And in February it was only 1 trailer, this is 3 videos of actual game play footage. And we have a track map, you didn’t even read the articial.

  9. Blood*Specter

Now we get to see all the stuff that came with 1.10 update. My favorite part will be all the Ninja edits that must surely be coming too. I’ll get excited when they start releasing DLC cars and tracks every month or two. Not so much before that.

    1. sergio_z4gt3

-_- monthly DLC…. IN YOUR HARD-DRIVE RIGHT NOW!!!! Kaz has already explained that it was a translation error, and yet you people keep asking it… Besides, what’s so fun about monthly DLC? “Great, now I have to spend 5 bucks in a last gen game which I already payed 60€ for!!!!! Duh!” It would be nice of pd to actually release 4 dlc packs like in GT5, but monthly DLC? Are you people insane?

  10. DCybertron

I like. A lot. Could be more winding like a touge , but that’s just my opinion. I’m expecting this to be the new cruise track.

  11. blkpig

Sounds great hope it comes. But I really hope they get rid of the Stock-yard so WE can all drive our cars without having to load and choose I got 650 cars and I can’t buy more without having to load re-load pick and moth-ball cars worst feature in the series if you disagree manage more than 500 cars and see if you enjoy it. But like i said DAAAMMMN I can’t wait for next week see you on the road. Oh! I hope they fix the pivoting car sickness so we can park on the side of the road. Peace!

  12. apexpredator100

Has anyone tried the community and quick match features in v 1.00, or was that a pre release version of the game?

    1. gtfanforlife

So basically it has been on the game since day one… I’ll probably use it once to see if it’s good, then never use it again…

  13. Imari

Hey look, it’s the little boy who cried wolf!

Don’t piss around teasing us with this, PD. Just put it out. Quick Match too, has been a promised feature since GT5.

  14. TomBrady

Update 1.12 sounds amazing if that’s all true. I’ve been wanting Quick Match since they first announced plans for it. I’ve been wanting the Vision cars to have cockpits forever, and I’ve been wanting this track since i heard of it as well.

Some people may whine about video games being “incomplete” because they have features added after launch, but I like it usually. GT6 is a good example of it done right because the game itself was amazing at launch and it’s only getting better.

I just wish they’d do some legit DLC, and not just a car or track every month or so. I’d buy a lot more than that.

  15. justin credible

Nice very nice new tracks are always good I love the challenge of mastering a new track with the car of my choice.
Will Oulton Park in Cheshire England ever be on GT it deserves a place, I know that track very well and would love the chance to test it out on GT. Pleeeaassse.
Does it come with a difficulty slider download as well??? HINT HINT.

    1. TomBrady

That would be cool. I wish GT6 had a difficulty slider like WRC 4. 10 levels of AI difficulty, they could provide the right challenge for everone with something like that.

It would also be cool if the game would dynamically change that difficulty setting as you progress through the racing career, with the option to adjust it manually of course.

I don’t think the AI in GT6 is that bad, it’s just too slow.

The other issue is the retarded reliance on rolling starts. I’m so sick of rolling starts. GT PSP had standing starts and it worked great. The AI was fast too

    2. Progress823

I miss the qualifying days of GT1 and GT2. At least you had a chance to get your position on the grid without having to chase the rabbit as we do now.

  16. NART512

Man I was hoping they wouldn’t put any Armco barriers. I would of rather them put invisible barriers. Would of made for a lot better photo opportunities and would have given it a more Mille Miglia feel.

    1. TomBrady

I would rather them have it like it is on Willow Springs, or Ascari. No invisible barriers but if you go too far off track or try to shortcut a corner completely it’ll teleport you back to the track.

Anything is better than invisible barriers IMO

    2. Amac500

I’m with the anything buy invisible barrier party. I think if they didn’t put up walls it would probably be a bit too much for PD because they would have had to put so much detail into all those open fields and hills and such when the track is already longer than the Nurburgring. So I’m okay with it for that reason, and some of the spots its stone blocks instead of Armco and sometimes thered natural environment surrounding instead. I do see a couple spots where there are gaps at the end of one barrier before the start of a new one, unfortunately there may be invisible barriers there.

  17. apexpredator100

At least community features are coming next week. One of the most anticipated features along with Course Creator and B-Spec

    1. Amac500

Why wouldn’t we be able too? Don’t worry, that’s a concern nobody has, you will be able to race it online lol :D

  18. chengman

Just in time to keep people from buy Forza Horizon 2… That’s a bold move, Kazton. Let’s see if it pays off.

    1. yudge2k

As usual, the track will come with plenty of offline races to do on this one, like all the other tracks that were added in GT5 and GT6… At least they are free in GT6… Please PD if you are gonna give us new tracks please think outside the bush for a minute and give us offline races to go with that track. We already have 3 new tracks with nothing to do (Well the Red Bull tracks is one) the 2 80’s variations at least we can race them offline with the Ayrton Senna stuff (Only 4 races but they are there). So for this one add some races add something that will make this track enjoyable. Not just another track on the list. In GT5 i bought all the DLC tracks and i got screwed because i don’t play online.

  19. TeamCZRRacing

Side note: I’d be more excited about the course creator, but chances are people will find something to complain about with it instead of marveling at the revolutionary piece of technology it is.

    1. TomBrady

I know right? I even loved GT5’s course maker. It’s a great idea. You basically never run out of new tracks to race even though the environments did get boring.

Plus, what other sim has anything like it? It’s a brilliant idea.

  20. GTracer98

Certainly looks interesting, especially for holding classic road races Targa Florio style. I suppose it’s not yet known whether this track will have time and weather changeability?

    1. Amac500

In the original trailer we saw some time change. Most of the video was day but there were a couple of shots at dusk with the headlights on if I remember correct. If we really pay attention we can probably see the sun at different parts of the sky.

  21. FS7

I want to know when if ever PD will make all options available in all game modes. Things such as standing starts, mechanical damage, & fuel/tire wear being available online only makes no sense. Players should be able to set up proper races offline.

    1. HuskyGT

      +1

It’s like they say “We give you this great feature in this game” “Now we take it away since you’re having too much fun.. lol”

    2. toms318bmw

I know right, and picking proper cars to race against, im in a fully done up ae86 vs stock pos cars,….. I dont get it

    3. ToyGTone

+1 If we can do it in online then why not single player? And programming selecting cars is not that hard compare to something like Course maker or That thing for GT86 and Nismo GT-R.

    4. HuskyGT

Something tells me that it’s because PD wants to force us to play online. Personally, not having these features is not going to make me go online; it will make me stop playing the game all together. And I’m sure that if these features were added back to Arcade, that won’t stop online players from going online.

    1. alienracing

I agree but no matter how hard you try someone is always gonna complain about something regardless of how good it is

    2. hairystig

I doubt we are going to get this track for free but hopefully I’m wrong.
Either way though haters gonna hate.

  22. MonGnoM

Man, this is really frustrating. NOT PD’S ENGAGEMENT, but the people complaining.
What ever is new, people complain.
BE HAPPY WITH WHAT WE GOT!
    I AM!

    1. HuskyGT

Nope. GT6 needs a full overhaul. To this point, even this track seems “meh…” With all the negative stuff, personally, I can’t really see myself enjoying this to its full.

I’ll just wait for GT7 on the PS4. I never lose faith that the next GT will be the one to hit the jackpot.

    2. HuskyGT

Yeah, when you get older you get really whiny. I’ll probably complain a lot with GT7, unless PD decides to do something about it.

    3. Isho

Its their standards of implementing features that are low which gives alot of people a reason to complain. All of this shouldve been released a few months ago. While we wont know what this update might bring, majority of the people are annoyed at the fact that theres still not a single date of release of the big anticipated course creator. If these types of reasonable complaints frustrates you then theres something wrong.

  23. ToyGTone

Sadly at the time of the release of this update, i will be busy with many stuff so i couldn’t play until…… maybe forever.
    but still HYPE TRAIN!!!!

  24. R34EVO9

Did anyone notice the drift sector markers on track hut everyone racing?? Looks like we might be able to section off parts off the track to do some point to point

  25. VelocityX

It’s gonna take a while to drive around that track. Nice with a new track, even though it’s not really a race track.

  26. Kurei

Oh come on PD, this isn’t like you…

You’re supposed to give us an actual date, so you can miss that, and then never acknowledge it happening. What’s got into you ? :P

Either way, I’ll probably be busy moving into new house then, so big-whoop.

  27. hairystig

That racing seat! lol seriously though anyone who cares to actually read the forums knows this track was added to GT6 in Julys 1.10 update but its still good that PD is acknowledging the tracks existence again.

    1. ScotteDawg

I’m quite excited about this! A track this big can host some huge events, particularly in the online lobbies, but I’m sure PD will come up with some excellent seasonals too!!

As for lobby events, did I hear someone say “Mille Miglia”? OK, maybe not originally held in Spain but this Sierra track is open AND tight enough (and long enough) for an equivalent race…

    1. wvmgmidget

Most likely. All the others have been and it’s seeming to be just a track, maybe a couple of cars and some extra features
