Polyphony Digital recently unveiled Gran Turismo Sophy, a new artificial intelligence driving system which will appear in Gran Turismo 7. The technology was developed in collaboration with a 25-person team at Sony AI, utilizing the latest advancements in machine learning. The team’s research was published in Nature and GT Sophy was tested against (and defeated!) some of the best Gran Turismo drivers in the world at a live event in Tokyo last year.

With the long-awaited Gen 9 update to Assetto Corsa Competizione launching digitally today, GTPlanet has had the opportunity to once again sit down with Kunos Simulazioni’s co-founder Marco Massarutto for an exclusive chat about the new title and everything coming up over the months ahead.

Gran Turismo 7 is just over a month from releasing on March 4, and Sony kicked off the game’s marketing blitz today with a half-hour “State of Play” video dedicated to the title. Before the big show, we also had the chance to participate in a virtual media event and round-table interview with GT series creator Kazunori Yamauchi.

Gran Turismo 7 pre-orders officially opened on Tuesday, and if you reserve your copy early, you’ll be rewarded with 100,000 in-game credits and a “3 Car Pack” of bonus content including the Toyota Supra GT500 ’97 (Castrol Tom’s), Porsche 917 Living Legend, and Mazda RX-Vision GT3 Concept Stealth Model.
