DiRT Rally Officially Launches on Steam; Coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on April 5th

Codemasters has released the most significant update for DiRT Rally yet, version 1.0, otherwise known as the ‘Winter Wonderland Pack’. The update ends the early access phase of DiRT rally, thus marking its official launch onto Steam.

The Winter Wonderland update includes a new rally set in the snow and ice of the Varmland region of Sweden. These new tracks introduce “soft edge” technology that simulates the density of snow, allowing you to lean on the snow banks when pushing the cars to their limits. That isn’t all the update brings with it as two new rally machines are included as well, the Hyundai Rally and the game’s poster child, the Volkswagen Polo Rally.

Also introduced is Steam Workshop support that will allow players to share car setup and force feedback settings, as well as improvements and refinements to global leaderboards and league support.

Everything shiny, new, and improved in the update is as follows:

  • You can now tune your immersion levels by customising your OSD options, choosing between On, Countdowns Only and Off.
  • The Logitech G29 wheel is now correctly listed in the controller preset menu.
  • Custom Championships now reward you with the correct number of credits.
  • There’s a new EULA to sign when you boot the game, which asks you to kindly behave yourself when you’re playing with others.
  • Your favourite pet mouse has learnt a new trick, and can now change the livery on your car.
  • If you own an Owner’s Club event, you will now correctly own the Owned achievement.
  • If you pledge a wedge to an online Wager Event and the event ends while you’re on stage, we’ll give you your CR back.
  • Your Oculus Rift can now be toggled to lock the horizontal orientation. Look for a flag in the hardware configuration file.
  • Sliders on the Advanced Racing Wheel Options screen now increment at the same rate as the Steering and Pedal calibration screen.
  • Your Service Crews are back from their training course and will now correctly setup your car for multi-location events.
  • Stopped one set of Rallycross results from appearing on a Rally leaderboard.
  • You no longer need to hold the headlight control to activate your lights. You can now just tap that.
  • Windows accounts with accented and non-latin characters will now correctly save game settings.
  • Fixed a weird bug where the camera would briefly flick back to the default position at the start of a stage after customising the seat position.
  • @Kick_Up will now politely and calmly inform you if your wheels fall off, and if you’re going the wrong way.

If you’ve yet to experience DiRT Rally it is currently available for 15% off on Steam, ending on December 14th. DiRT Rally will be coming to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC DVD on April 5th.

Does anybody know if that blue/white Computervision livery for the MG Metro in the video will be coming to the game? Same for the blue/white Ford livery on the RS200 in screenshots?

Found out about this game just yesterday. I bought it on steam for 15% off. I Just looking at gameplay videos it looks fun.

I was hesitant at first too, but I can assure you it has a lot more sim than the other Dirt series. From what I gather the team working on this title is different than the regular Dirt series team.
I’m loving the game so far.

I hope the console version lives up to the PC version. The game has ruined me for anything else, you guys have something to look forward to.

Next year seems like a very good year for the console sim racers out there. Im glad for them, the options for racers on the consoles has been massively thin for a while now.

Every other game just became irrelevant – to me. I don’t think I’ve ever been more envious of PC players than with DiRT Rally Early Access. I’m so happy to see this game hitting consoles.

2016 is looking good for console owners, Dirt Rally, Assetto Corsa, Sebastien Loeb Rally Evo, and more content for PCars. GT will have very tough competition on the PS4, PD will really need to improve the GT series, releasing another game with few options, no proper realistic racing, and poor AI isn’t going to impress players.

I couldnt agree more im really hoping that PD does improve Gran Turismo mean hell the Need For Speed 2015 is a hell alot better than Gran Turismo 6 an im way more of a Gran Turismo fan…..

I have watched plenty of gameplay videos and it looks pretty cool. I knew it would come to PS4 and I was waiting on a date. Sebastian Loeb Rally Evo is something I am really looking forward to and it will keep me busy until Dirt Rally in April.
