Drifting in Project Cars 2 Looks Like a Lot of Fun

The marketing push for Project CARS 2 has shown off the vast array of motorsports represented in-game, however, one hasn’t been explored very much at all.

The art of drifting is one which many motorsport fans adore. Organized events like Formula Drift attract huge audiences and deserve a place in Slightly Mad Studios’ latest. The good news is that drifting is very much possible in PCARS2 and — most importantly — it looks fun.

Drifter’s Paradise

Two videos perfectly showcase what PCARS2 is capable of. The first of these clips uses an Xbox One controller with default car and pad settings. YouTuber Sofian Senac masterfully guides the 1200hp Mazda MX-5 around turns with ease, showcasing his drift abilities in the process.

Given the well documented issues with the first game’s default settings, this is especially impressive. Not only does it show us some very neat driving, but we also get to see just how far PCARS2 appears to have come from the first game.

The next video shows an unexpected combo: a big burly muscle car on a karting track. Driving a Mustang on Kartdome, hobbnob1 gets sideways at slower speeds to show improvements to the PCARS 2 physics engine.

The Fastback should have no right to be on this circuit but our driver throws caution to the wind and puts on a hell of a show. It’s a short but sweet showcase that further proves hoons may find what they’re after in PCARS2.

With release fast approaching, we’ll be showing off some of the best footage and information about Project CARS 2 in the coming weeks. The above videos are just a small look at what SMS has put together for players this month. Our own preview of the game will also go live very soon, so keep an eye out.
