First F1 2016 Direct-Capture Gameplay Footage From E3 2016

As you may have expected, the first gameplay footage of F1 2016 has surfaced from E3, courtesy of Xboxygen.

A three-part video series features the all-new Haas VF-16 breaking in the tarmac at a selection of tracks: Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, the home of last weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix; a wet Autódromo José Carlos Pace; and Circuit of the Americas. Interestingly enough, the Baku City Circuit which is to host this weekend’s European Grand Prix isn’t shown.

While those that participated in the closed beta are already familiar with the aesthetics of this year’s title, for those that haven’t, the UI is just as clean and straight-forward as it was in last year’s release. The only readily-apparent change is the speedometer.

In addition to bringing all of the cars, tracks and drivers of the current season to the virtual world, this year’s entry returns the focus to the game’s career mode, spanning over 10 seasons and will go the full length to recreate the exciting motorsport, both on and off the track.

The expansive career mode will introduce a new car upgrade system that’s fully integrated into the game’s practice development programme, simulating the real-world development aspect of the sport. Through the upgrade system, players will be able to make any of this season’s available talent a title competitor.

This year’s title will also feature the return of the Safety Car, and will formally introduce the Virtual Safety Car. Additionally, the game is set to feature a time of day editor which will hopefully allow for some interesting combinations of ‘new’ experiences, such as racing the Marina Bay circuit in Singapore at day, or Monaco at night.

F1 2016 is due later this summer for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platforms.

I don’t believe peripheral support has been announced yet, but you can practically depend on the G29 being supported where able.
