Always amazes me how close the steering wheel is to the driver's head, especially in one of the Fords - I think it's the #2. Looks like a really uncomfortable position to drive in for 3 hours.

Kevin Harvick is just unstoppable at Phoenix.

Jeff Gordon has not had back-to-back top 5 finishes in the first two races since 1997, believe it or not.

Also, it must be killing Fox to air a race sponsored by NBC.:lol:

They're now just rubbing 2015 in Fox's face. Just waiting for a car sponsored by NBC Universal to show up any day now.

I think its more comfortable in the long run. It helps the driver use the bigger muscles in his arms. Thats really important in NASCAR where you're turning for 50% of the lap for 3 hours.

I'd say it's more to limit muscle use than anything else. If the wheel was far from the body, you're basically asking the driver to hold his arms out straight for hours on end. Anyone that remembers doing arm exercises in PE knows that's no picnic.

Just realized this is the 2nd season without a #6 in the field. I hope to see it and the #28 return some day

Danica claims she was having a good day with a good car when Lil'Gator rubbed her.
She was 25th, one lap down when it happened.

Kurt will run the Indy 500.

I really can't see him doing well though as he won't have much time in the car prior to the race.

Considering last year she finished in the 30's quite a bit, I would say 25th is doing very good.:lol:

Just getting started! Here's the remaining March schedule:

March 2014: Trucks
* Mar. 29 - Martinsville

March 2014: Nationwide
* Mar. 8 - Las Vegas
* Mar. 15 - Bristol
* Mar. 22 - California/Auto Club Speedway

March 2014: Cup
* Mar. 9 - Las Vegas
* Mar. 16 - Bristol
* Mar. 23 - California/Auto Club Speedway
* Mar. 30 - Martinsville

So this coming weekend is all about Las Vegas. Or should I say, home-field advantage for the Busch brothers. I do think it is a bit of a strain to go from Las Vegas, to then head east to Bristol, back out west for California, and back east again to go to Martinsville. On the other hand, you alternate from large oval to short oval with this schedule.

Anyhow, good luck to all drivers and teams moving forward.

Kurt Busch wants to do the Indy-Charlotte double this year. Yep- Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600. Any thoughts on how you this he'll do this year on this double?

Hard to say, that's a long haul! Those that saw him test say they are impressed given what little seat time he has. He has raced all sorts of cars. I don't think he can match his bosses (Smoke) best, 6th at Indy = 3rd in Nascar I think, but I don't think a top 10 in each is out of the question.

He'll be decent at both, a bit raw for Indy and then probably worn out for the 600, but something is stuck in my mind.

We know what 'double duty' is, but the 500 and 600 aren't the only races going on that day. Gene Haas is looking at F1. Is it possible, as ridiculous as it may seem, that in the near future we see someone try to race at Monaco, Indy, AND Charlotte, and be competitive?

It wouldn't even be possible to do Monaco and Charlotte, nevermind doing all 3 races.

Until something like Elon Musk's theorized Hyperloop comes to be, it will never be possible.

I don't think we will ever see one single car owner win all three Memorial Day races.

The only two with a shred of a chance would be Roger Penske or Chip Ganassi, and that would require them to create and field a winning F1 team from nothing.

From the other side, we saw how successful Red Bull Racing was in NASCAR, so the likelihood of an already-established, race-winning F1 team taking over NASCAR or IndyCar also seems next to zero.

Actually Gene Haas has mentioned the possibility of an IndyCar team (He wants to double Haas sales eventually, and he feels team owning is the way to it), so it's unlikely but possible.
