Carl Edwards becoming a Penske driver is probably the best for him and Ford. Surely Ford would pay once again to prevent Edwards from jumping to JGR or... well.. that's about the only place he could probably go.

I don't see it though unless JGR want a fourth car in their camp. They have good line up and luck seems to be the issue at the moment for all three, but even still they are putting in the results with bad luck that seem to escape the other great team SHR.

That's why Penske is his best bet. Three car team seems to be the sweet spot in NASCAR.

Yeah you have a point, the only good four car team is HMS, SHR could be good but they seem to be hit in miss with more than one driver every weekend while one or two are amazing.

Gibbs wouldn't turn him away if he could bring full sponsorship. For enough (sponsor) money, The Coach can make room for a fourth team.

Jeff Gordon says he's been having back spasms. Regan Smith will be on standby for the next two days.

I don't disagree with that, but Gibbs hasn't been interested in a fourth car prior. Then again neither was SHR and they made room so either or I guess.

Knowing Roush, this probably means that Carl Edwards is leaving at the end of the year. Ricky Stenhouse and Trevor Bayne are great prospects, but I would rather have Matt Kenseth and Carl Edwards.

I get the feeling that Edwards will leave. I have no idea what Jack is doing over there, but its driven Kenseth away and now very likely Edwards. What I fail to understand is how Biffle isn't even near th efront most of the time and he STILL is over there.

As for replacing Edwards and Kenseth, I think you guys are making too big an issue on "filling shoes". I never expected Ricky Stenhouse Jr to fill in the 17 and be anywhere near the pace Kenseth was and I'm not expecting the same with Trevor. What I do expect is for Trevor to be a far better driver then Ricky since unlike him, he's spent far more time in Nationwide and maturing whereas Stenhouse even in a the new car still isn't improving.

Well in fairness, Gene Haas made room for Kurt (I still find the way he did it to be abit dirty).

Same reason Burton wasn't near the front at RCR and somehow kept his ride. But for Biffle I think it's because he's more marketable as a spokesperson based on personality over looks.

As for the Haas thing my point still stands that if needed a fourth car can be made as Ryan correctly pointed out. I just don't see JGR really wanting to but doesn't mean that couldn't.

Abit odd because I remember it seemed Edwards was the most marketable of the whole team. He not only was in subway ads, but was doing stuff for Fastenal, Copart, and much of the Ford Promotional work. Interestingly though, I do notice that Brad Keseloski is now the one doing the promos for Ford and Apart from Subway, Carl does little to no promos anymore.

I say that because Tony himself wasn't sure about a 4th car but Gene Haas was clearly more then interested in a 4th car and didn't waste time in making it happen. I think perhaps JGR kinda does and kinda doesn't, just counts on the kind of driver and money that's being offered and Edwards might be a offer to consider.

Well Biffle had many of those roles too and the new NASCAR green commercial if I remember correctly. He's good at being a promo guy and I think that's why Roush keeps him. I mean Edwards is as well, and he still has Subway promos but let's remember that it would seem it's Edwards leaving Roush. So if they could pick who stays I'm sure it would be Edwards.

No, I remember him going around Tony and saying he'd fund the fourth car on his own, which seemed like a bad move considering they're partners.

Will be watching the race at work again. Stream will be at racefansonlytv.com again.

Busch judt arrived at the track. Not sure if he missed the driver meeting

He wasn't even close. He might have had a chance if the entire Indy 500 finished without a single caution flag.

Kurt must be wondering whether he'll have to endure a second super long green flag run today.
That's got to be mentally exhausting, not having the occasional caution to mentally gather yourself.
