Reminds me of Yates. Granted they only ran 2 cars, but once Jarrett and Rudd left, it was downhill fast for the team and they never recovered.
Had them in my mind as well as the mind-blowing Chip Ganassi Racing combination of David Stremme, Reed Sorenson and Casey Mears. I'm sure a potential trio of Ricky Stenhouse, Trevor Bayne and Sam Hornish can be better than that... maybe.

At least Ganassi has recovered. Unless Roush changes its' policy it may not be easy to attract good clientele.

Ganassi almost won a championship with Sterling Marlin back in the early 2000s. Otherwise, they haven't been relevant at all for championship contention or even wins save for a brief blip in 2010 with McMurray. They might have something with Larson but some other team will probably steal him anyways.

At this rate, Roush will be going to no cars in 5-7 years. Edwards and Biffle keep them relevant but if they bolt (and they should), ship's gonna sink fast.

If only he had Grand kids <- see what I did there :sly::dopey:

Inb4 SHR does some trickery and creates a fifth car

Inb4 Hendrick snaps him up in a year or two to replace Kasey kahne

oh, and On Roush becoming irrelevant and eventually breaking up; yep, saw it coming, sdeeing as that team is already uncompetitive for the most part as it is

Let's not call Roush done just yet. Carl has won once this year. Trevor has shown in Nationwide that he can compete with the Cup guys. He also puts good runs together in the Wood Brothers team. I think they won't as good as they have been here soon, but they're not simply going away as long as Stenhouse, Bayne, and whoever else have the sponsorships

The Roush cars might not completely go away, but if Roush Fenway doesn't get their engineering/R&D departments finding more speed, they will lose their most credible drivers (Edwards/Biffle). If they lose both of their top drivers, they will eventually become backmarkers. Childress's team cars might also be joining him back there in a few years.

I totally agree about Childress. I don't see either Dillon ever being a consistent chaser. Menard is there because of sponsors, and Newman is in the same pile as the Dillons except he's proven that he can be good rather than having the right last name

I think Roush is going to be fine. Stenhouse and Bayne both have/had more experience and success than when Busch and Edwards got their Cup rides. And if Roush does get Hornish, we all know how good Hornish is secretly.

What?

Stenhouse has done great competing for 25th place.

Two time champion in Nationwide. Yes he is 26th in points currently. But that's because he just wrecked out at Dover. A third of the way through the season he was higher in points and had just as many top 5s and top 10s as last year.
Not everybody is going to come into Cup and dominate as soon as they take the green. In a couple of years I wouldn't be shocked to see him compete for championships.

Carl Edwards rookie year was 2004 when he ran from Michigan on. He won the 2005 Busch Series rookie of the year ironically enough

So easy to point at someone and say that they are only their because of there last name. Explain Jeffery Earnhardt then.

Edwards sits 3rd in points as of now.

That doesn't change the fact that just because one car get the bulk of an ability to run in the chase the team is okay. If you compare to other teams that have 3 or 4 drivers on the same tier as Roush it becomes apparent he's out of his depth in the current era.

Every team save for Hendrick has a skid of a few years where they can do almost nothing right and struggles to keep up with the field, like RCR in 2004-2006 and Penske in 2007-2009.

Thing is, Penske was with a Manufacterer that was essentially getting worse and worse and worse (why else do you think they went with Ford?). RCR was just being flatout beat by Hendrick as THE Chevy team (as they are now, only slightly less badly).

Brad Keselowski and 2012 beg to differ.

Yeah, one team out of what, three? That was all Brad and Paul Wolfe, not Dodge. If all of them were up there was regularly as Brad was, then you'd have a point.

Kurt Busch looked really good in the #22 Dodge in 2010-2011, but that was still inside Team Penske. He won 4 points races (plus the 2010 All-Star race, 2011 Bud Shootout, and 2011 Gatorade Duel #1), had 17 Top-5s, 33 Top-10s, and won 5 poles, including 3 in a row in 2011 at Kansas, Pocono, and Michigan.

It seems more likely that Penske had their act together than Dodge. If Dodge's contributions were so vital, why did Penske abandon them to go to Ford?

Plus that Dodge engine was tuned for better fuel mileage, even with Brad doing everything he could to squeeze out every drop of fuel in that car that year.

Penske abandoned them because Dodge was leaving the sport. They had no choice but to switch to another manufacturer, and Roger saw that switching to Ford would be exactly what he wanted for his team. The chance to be the top team under that badge.

Dodge wasn't leaving the sport. They fully developed their own Gen-6 car. They had every intention of staying, but Penske abandoned them and Robby Gordon stopped running in NASCAR. They tried luring Furniture Row, RPM, JTG, and Ganassi, but none of them would change over to Dodge.
