It's a pre-season party, doesn't really have any international significance in world sportscars.

You're crazy, in what world is it not, when it gathers drivers from all walks of international motorsports. As well as being considered a crown jewel in all of Auto Racing...

Because one drove and Audi, and the other drove a Ferrari.

So Ferrari will rush forward their LMP1 project and give it to an amateur team for Le Mans to just annoy a totally different Audi team?

for the record...as an American...

- if you go to a Nissan dealer...or talk to a Nissan North America employee, or a commercial paid for by Nissan North America...that is how THEY pronounce the company's name..

- today was the first time ive ever heard Audi pronounced that way...

- did someone actually pronounce Mazda with an R??

- in America that is how we pronounce the letter Z...and it actually dates back to Old English IIRC

Sorry dude, didn't mean to insult your nationality, hence the :D 's

In terms of International Sports Car racing, it's pretty much 2nd to 24 Hours of Le Mans.

But it's just an insignificant race that means nothing....

Wow you really know how to twist words and come up with inane rhetoric.

I don't see how else Ferrari vs Audi at Le Mans could happen like the ridiculous original post suggested...

Exactly, but you're right this race has no bearing in the world I don't understand why the millions are waste in Florida.

But there isn't enough room to go side by side unless you are literally going 5mph. Going round the outside around any sweeper is dangerous, let alone when you think that going banzai will make the car on the inside disappear and your car moving onto the racing line.
The only reason why Winkelhock made the move, was because the Ferrari couldn't get its power down, he out accelerated him. Like you said, it's racing, should Winkelhock stayed behind him? You're using double standards here.

If there is room to enter a corner with two cars than there MUST be enough room to exit a corner. And that's not by giving more power!
What?
Lol! Now that makes so much sense...
Sorry but this is racing Carlos, there's no room for the weak. You go in that corner like a man, you go out like a man regardless of where you end up. You lift and you loose, that's racing, that's the way it is and that's the way it will always be.

Okay and instead of walking away you come up with trite, bravo. Just like your trite calling this race a nobody race, even though it is one of the most historic race of the year...yeah you're really firing on all cylinders.

Now don't pull that stupid nationality card please.
Again, I'm not saying the penalty itself was right, but I can understand the decision and anyway, the Ferrari rammed Winkelhock before, so I'd call that justified.

Get off your high horse.
Yeah ok :boggled:

I said none of that, I said there is literally not enough room for 2 cars. The car on the racing line has priority. Any driver who thinks he can just drive round the outside of any corner will end up having some serious accidents.

nope, nope, nope...the more i think about it the more i dislike that penalty...frankly i wish they had banged together...would have been even better...and i STILL wouldn't have wanted a penalty...

Jav

Racing is more than bumping each other off track just to show you got big balls. Racing is letting each other live and STILL WIN. Those people to me are real men.

It is a minor sportscar race for Team Joest and the Ferrari teams (I presume whoever said the original post meant AF Corse as they are the closest to a works Ferrari team at the moment), and that is a fact else they would both have cars on the grid.

Still waiting for a final update on Matteo to be able to give you. He's smiling and happy to see his visitors though.

So, anyone ready to start that NBC Sports petition? And please, don't give me the "Not everyone gets NBC Sports" argument because the exact same can be said about Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports 2. This is about getting a network that gives a damn about the sports it covers.

Nevermind the ridiculous amount of international drivers it gets and now the reintroduction of the ACO spec classes

Missing the point - no contact was made. And real men will act with their brain engaged and not try and thunder round corners like angry 4 year olds.

You're asking for a watered down version and calling it racing. The fact remains that the driver in the racing line has priority over the driver off the line. If the driver can make it stick and pass on the outside more power to them, but if they cant and wreck or have to drive off because their opposing is faster on the race line then they don't get to cry foul because their ego is hurt.

Next year, the only major American racing series they won't have will be USCR. Just a shame FOX has that contract.

When the car on the racing line is so slow, that you have to pass him to avoid contact, you should and every "priority" is gone. Also, there was two wide racing in exactly the same corner, so it is possible.

But again, since the Ferrari should've got a penalty in the scene before, everything's fine to me (by the way, I was rooting for the car, because Audi bores me to hell as much as I like the "Lizard People").

Exactly! That's why there was no contact in this incident, I couldn't have said it better myself.
Thank you for seeing the light!

wait....so because Joest (which doesnt field a car that is even eligible for any of the classes at Daytona) doesnt race there...it automatically makes it a "minor" sports car race??

Oh I see, so races like Shanghai and Bahrain are vastly bigger than this race because Audi P1 team races in it. Oh dear me, how could I ever forget about that. Once again considering the amount of people that come from other racing walks of life such as GT3, Indy, NASCAR, DTM and so on to do this race shows why it is second to Le Mans which is the biggest race of the year.

Cannot like enough. It was akin to a little kid getting into a rage and trying to stick it to another driver.

You are arguing like you think the Audi was a car length in front - it was literally centimeters. And nope, whatever happens, if you're making a move off the racing line then you're taking a huge risk.
