There are always too many commercials, but Fox seems to take it to a whole new level. It wasn't surprising, given the NASCAR connection that they went with Fox and you would think that might be a good thing given NASCARs popularity, but I'm not so sure about it. I would prefer if these smaller series just dumped tv coverage outright, beefed up there servers and ran it flag to flag online.I agree. Great race but too many commercials
It helped that all the other GT cars were caught behind the ESM #2 at the beginning which gave the 3 about a 13 second lead. Regardless, those vettes were tough#3 C7.R was sooo fast. I'm happy with the podium for the two Vettes.
Why cant they do picture in picture and still show the race during commercials, they do it with NASCAR on FOX.
I think the LMP2 teams need to work harder. The DP pole time this year was about 0.7s quicker than last year's LMP2 pole time. The highest qualifying LMP2 car, Oak, was 0.4 seconds quicker than last year's pole time. Oak has never raced Long Beach before. It's only their 3rd race on Continental tires, and they still managed 0.4 quicker than last year. That's a lack of skill by ESM if you ask me.DPs need to lose about 20-25 HP and I think it will be perfect
I was at both 24hr of Daytona and Sebring and the position indicator lights rarely showed the correct position or were glitched to "--" symbols. It would be nice if they were more accurate. That was from those 2 races I was at at least.Standing right by the back straight sounds insane in person. Man, the LED position displays are massively helpful. Why weren't those implemented earlier?

Or give the LMP2 cars more power and take some downforce away. The DPs have already about doubled the downforce they have. Let the LMP2 guys eat the cost of some adjustments this time.I'll agree thats true. ESM was awful. But the power difference is too large in order for the P2s to have a fair fight with the DPs. Its too hard for them to pass. So I say find a way to slow the straightline speed of a DP while giving it back any time lost in cornering or braking.

I'm still going to do it and I highly doubt so anyways. There is already a couple of guys on Youtube who do upload all the ALMS/Rolex races at-least all the years prior to this 1. I just need to create a stand via items from Lowes,. May take a week since my boss is Jewish and is gone for Passover this week so no pay check for me until next Tuesday. Why bother? You'll probably have it taken down because of copyright infringement, and the streaming is available for all.
There are some people who will claim this race(and every other one before and after) sucks regardless. They'll be eternally PO'd that the DP is winning. They'll make up reasons why the DPs are faster. They'll blame NASCAR for the former ALMS race control screwing everything up.Edit you guys are trippin who think the race wasn't good for Long Beach standards wise. I've been going and watching The Long Beach Race for a while now and I regret not going down there and getting my seat at Island burger and watching this race live at the best corner here at this track. I'm planning on re watching the race again tonight just because I enjoyed so much!!!
If the DP's beat up on the Le Mans chassis then separate the classes next year, but 5 class will be a whole lot again too. If 5 classes is too much then go to the ECU, Hp/kg route to find the Bop. Pretty much the DP's are newly revised Group C Prototypes and I prefer them over the Le Mans open cockpit fighters so maybe the losing chassis will ditch them next yeAr, but that's wishful thinking here! There are some people who will claim this race(and every other one before and after) sucks regardless. In the end, you gotta pick and choose your battles. I'm a race fan. That was a good race! Quite a bit too many commercials, but I still enjoyed the race 👍

I didn't watch all the ALMS over Rolex because of their Prototype chassis, but on the reverse side I didn't want to watch the cheap looking GT4 chassis from the Rolex Series with their 5 lug wheel changes, but enjoyed the GTLM cars from ALMS. Now GT4 is GTD (awesome), an GTLM i get see with DP's
Look like it too me!DP is nothing like Group C..... Not even visually.
They're the IMSA GTP"s child which was a modified version of Group C intended for privateer teams rather than the full on works factory teams to keep cost down. That's a lot like what the DP was. Now the DP is at least as much to operate as the LMP2. With the DP chassis already being about as much as if not more than the LMP2 chassis, effectively there is no more DP even though the upgraded models are on the gridDP is nothing like Group C..... Ummmm, that's what I've argued against I'm pretty sure. And even if they are, what's wrong with that.
Just watched the race (had it DVR'd as I was gone) and great race. Somehow it doesn't surprise me that the amount of cautions were far less without GTD and LMPC. Race control finally didn't do anything to screw up the race and it actually played out well. I know its just this one race so far, but the impromptu sunday meeting Scott Atherton had with race control is producing results 👍
Overall (Aside from Fox's usual Pathetic race coverage for ANY race including NASCAR), Great race and I have absolutely no complaints. If this is what to expect for the rest of the season, then my faith in this series is much stronger.
Hmmmm, no. Not really.
Uhhhh.....

What exactly are you huffing anyway?
Could've sworn as you said before, the DPs are essentially Trans-Am cars.
Ummm, that's the Coyote chassis that SoD has been running since about 2008 with Corvette bodywork that's been here since the Gen 3 update and a dual element rear wing that's new for 2014.Found this online - this the Coyote chassis at last?
