C'mon man give him a break, when he was a kid he was bullied by ballons, his parents would never buy one for him, they were forever out of reach. On his 8th birthday he got a ballon from his grandparents but before he ever got to hold it the ballon floated away, mocking him. The years have gone by but the PTSD remains, he still sees the ballons mocking him and your mods are doing the same you monster.

You knew what you were doing, its in the ini file.

BTW, in my version, with the folder only listed as "sonoma," and it has the green grass as default with a "burnt" skin option, on the Indycar layout, there aren't any cones for the first turn, before the last hairpin turn of the official Indycar version, to take you back to the start/finish straight. The way this first turn is set up, someone can easily use it as a shortcut and get a better lap time without being penalized. I thought I saw a version with cones, but they seemed to have disappeared (or I screwed something up).

Because of this, the fastest recorded lap times are wrong--and yes, I eventually took the shortcut too, and discovered why I couldn't get anywhere near the best times, unless I took the shortcut (I'm usually in the top three on most tracks--as long as no one has "cheated").

Here is a quick and dirty fix for indy layout.
1 - add missing cones
2 - create a small zone where penalty occurs (because you can drive through that cones)
3 - declare all part of track named TRACKOUT as non valid part (drawback is that if you go wide on the last hairpin, time will be invalidated)

Put files in your sonoma folder (it will only modify indy layout)

edit : never forget that it could make the track invalid for online play. I don't really know what is part of checked files for accessing server online.
So make backup to be able to revert.
No original kn5 are replaced, only models.ini (models_indy.ini BTW) and surfaces.ini needs to be edited to go back to previous version.

Note: installation is different to last time, as noted.
I'm only doing this to draw attention to myself and will spam it everywhere I can because, as has been proved, I'm an attention-seeking spammer and have no real interest in providing optional content that people might enjoy, I just use it as a vehicle to promote myself. Thank you for your concern.

A long while ago @slider666 here has completely reworked it to a point where it is a very nice track.

I have not checked if the version you linked is the same, but if it is, I wonder what's wrong with the FFB. Sliders' version feels fine on my OSW Simucube wheel.

Ah, I noticed the rougher road surface on the reverse layout but didn't realise it affected the forward route too - I thought it was just the way the mesh was constructed, maybe slightly sawtooth so smooth in one direction and rough in reverse.
It'd be a shame to lose the reverse layout - have you raised it with the author?
Or can we just copy the physical mesh from v1 and apply it to v2, and still be able to use the reverse route?

I could look at your balloon models and come up with some various candidates for North America (of course Deep Forest, is a fictional Japanese track--this won't apply there). I could start first with more popular tire and parts makers for the region, some specific track, tourism, and state logos, then maybe some beer, soft drink, beer, and fast food logos (you now, cause 'merica.). I was also thinking of creating a "Brawndo" version as a tongue-in-cheek poke. Look up the movie "Idiocracy" if you're not familiar with it.

On the subject of someone complaining about balloons being out during rainstorms, and that not being realistic, I wonder if it's possible to have the weather settings control the appearance of the balloons, so if rain or varying conditions are selected, they won't be out (or load) for the session. This would be similar to crowds and spectators being affected by the type of session.

Maybe you've thought about it, maybe you've discussed it elsewhere (and I missed it), or are already working on something. Maybe it's not worth the time, and swapping out models.ini files to "turn them on and off" is enough.

I tried, but on the reverse route you end up starting in the forward grid position, which while amusing watching the ai all try to do 3 point turns, isn't ideal.
