Hi
I'm exploring about various how to make track lately.
If you have time, would you like to try driving test track
(but maybe it is not interesting because there are not building etc..)

test data
circuit that exist in america (road only)
Road and around the road is from high resolution lidar data.
Distant background is low resolution.

I ain't no track builder, but I'd be glad to do testing and give feedback. I drove a quick lap there and seemed like a decent starting point for a track. Is there anything in particular that you need feedback about?

EDIT. I just figured it out... That's Utah Motorsports Campus, right?

I really like this track and it really deserves a little more attention...
Foremost, thought of placing all in a neat package - now we can move forward to further enhance this beauty.

Package now includes (Updated):
- 3 initial cams by @DaBaeda
- Grass config by @slider666
- 3 additional cams
- NEW*** AI line (track & pits + ideal_line)
- VAO patch-file
- NEW*** UI maps (outline and cropped)
- Screen background image (+2 more)
- NEW*** removed cones to the pit-entry area with extension/config-file

sincere apologies to all... the previous AI was borked and was not operating as intended... must have gathered the incorrect file with the 1st upload... all updates have been tested and ALL is functioning very well...

Thanks Recalot. I read that post, but that was as far as I could get because I can't log in to Facebook. I'm hoping someone might know where this 'private mod' originates from.

They also just released the 2003 F1 season... wouldn’t mind that one either

So, with these F1 seasons they keep releasing, where do we think they’re getting them from? My guess is that F1 challenge 99-02 mod with every single F1 season.

See, I personally don't get this. This is IMO a loss of time and waste of artists talent. Sure it looks cool, but I don't see anybody spending more than a single stint on this. Maybe two. It has no long-term value whatsoever. But it took time to build, a lot of time. Time that could be spent doing other more "long-life" projects, like finishing Diepholz or London Street circuit, or a totally new project we don't have yet. This goes in the same bag as driving sofas, cars with gigantic wheels,... Who is still driving these?

I might be alone on this boat, and of course everyone can do what they want, but I believe there are far better projects unfinished or not yet attempted, that would bring a lot more enjoyment to us simracers. Just my 2c. Maybe I'm just too old and getting too stuck up to apriciate stuff like this. :lol:

Shucks, I see what you mean Fanapryde. The night lighting for Area 51 track was incorporated within the original KN5 which I just tried. My edits must of disabled or turned them off. Thanks for the info. It would be better to do the lighting in the Config file. I am not too good at night lighting right now, but I can start learning on this track. Thanks for pointing this out.

Believe it or not, those massive rocks that you saw at the end of the pits was part of an enlarged pit crew sticking up that looked like rocks. The track pit stalls were flipped 90 degrees on its side showing what looked like rocks. There was nothing else there but the pit stall box.

Note: I have my developer mode turned on, so I can follow the blue fast lane at night and see all the red side lines. hehe

Just out of interest, did you take a spin around that Curvelo/Cristais track mod? I'm still hoping you'll complete your fantastic Brazilian track updates with that at some point, then I'll be able to say I've had the 'Full Brazilian'. :eek:

I saw some talk of this a while back but was it ever fixed or is there even a possible fix? The glowing parts on several cars.

Like @P1ButtPlug wrote it is as intended. A while back this orange heated parts were already glowing when starting a session. That was fixed. Not sure but I also think it now pops in more linear related to more heat generation. It was a kind of on/off orange.
Some cars with more visible engine parts (e.g. Corvette C7R) have that 'overglowing' effect which can be looking 'strange'.
I've asked if that could be fixed in an upcoming update. Not the highest priority but just that little detail of further improvement.

They're supposed to glow, its brakes and exhaust :D The exhaust glow grows and dissipates based on RPM.

Is that the Sim Traxx Portland track? I hear it's about to be released and will be the definitive version.
There was another one in development but I assume it's been cancelled.

Hi Masscot, Curious question. I am pretty sure ACF version of the London track is better, but is the London Shift track
the same as what Gilles75 converted? I have Gilles track but does not have the night lighting that ACF does.

To Teddie, I have that original F1 world track 2013 somewhere in my track archives. Glad to see ACF is improving it. Subscribed to his channel.

Yeah, the Gilles track has been circulating for ages and has received a couple of updates to configs and kn5s.
I'm hoping ACF does release his version because it looks a lot better.
He was into FR testing/optimisation when he disappeared so the track looked almost complete.
If everyone asks him in the YouTube comments then maybe we can persuade him to release it.

I am undecided between Taruma, Campo Grande, Curvelo. Any preferences? I'm waiting for the AI lines for another Brazilian track ... someone already knows.

From the three you listed, Taruma would be the best drive I think, and Curvelo looks the best, but it would be best for you (and by you I mean us) to do all three. :lol::lol:

Ha ha. That's a tasty smorgasbord to pick from! I'd love to see Curvelo being next off the rank, but obviously the choice is all yours.

No, its a 4 lane drag strip in Bangkok. Nothing I can do on Portland, I cant make him reply.

But since all your tracks are great (*) and assuming you will provide them all anyway, any one of them would be welcomed.

The choice:

Taruma and Curvelo seem to be the best to me. We already have erl_cristais (Curvelo) version and while the track is fun, this version is looking really bad in the tree department (which is why I don't have it installed) :indiff:
