On that basis though Forza Horizon is the best sim out there, which is demonstrably untrue.
Proper sims, like the ones F1 teams use, look pretty bare bones.
Having said that I like all the nice looking candy. But it was never 'better graphics' = sim. Not all that long ago it was the reverse in fact.
I've never heard anyone before say that part of what makes something a racing sim is the trees or grass texture.
But maybe that has indeed changed with the whole shift in the way sim racing has gone.
People more than ever, me included, like the nice graphics.
Ok sure, making it look more like you are there isn't immetsive, and we may as well have stuck with spectrum zx81 graphics.
Don't know about you, but I use objects and parts of scenery as indicators for braking points and reference, the same as I do in the real world when on track. The better the graphics, the more ommersive, end of story.
Sure F1 sims are bare bones, so the computing power can run their fanct simulations better, but they'll still be graphically as close to accurate for objects etc.
Forza? Never played it or seen it in action, so I'll skip that part of your narrative.
I'd love to know who said better graphics=better sim though. better graphics, better sound, better physics, whatever is available to improve the info to the senses makes for a better sim..
