Just curious, am I the only one who can't use the new RSS 296 in an actual race?

It's amazing to me how much my GPU memory usage jumps up when I try to use this car. If I included it in a race with all the other RSS GT3 cars, my GPU memory usage gets to around 8.2-8.4gb (my card only has 8gb). If I use the exact same field, but replace the 296 with either Chem version or the URD version, I drop all the way down to around 6.0-6.2gb of GPU memory usage.

I've already gone through the skin folders and re-sized and re-saved all the files, but it's still not useable. Is the model that detailed that it eats up that much extra GPU memory?

I haven't driven it yet in a race but I've ran a couple of races with it in the AI field and I haven't had any problems.

Don't have the issue myself, but someone I race with mentioned it the other day that they had performance issues with the 296 and no other RSS GT3 cars. Someone else in that group said they saw a few posts on the RSS discord about it I think? So I'm feeling like it's not just a you problem. No fix though unfortunately.
 
anyone else experiences occasionally (approx 1 in 10 sessions) the picture is overall too dark (like you're wearing dark sunglasses)
Simply exiting and starting another session will "fix" the issue. (as a workaround)

Wondering if anyone else had this and knows how to get rid of it.

At the moment I am working on skinning some australian Carrera Cup 992 cars. I am using the Guerilla mod, but I also have the URD one. What do you guys think is the better or more widely used of the two mods? I can't decide, like em both, but they both have their mapping problems. As I am only starting the skins, now might be the best time to decide. Any input appreciated.

Love the URD Cup car, have thousands of miles on it. It's the best one, IMO.

The Guerrila one is pretty good too - some of their stuff can vary, but I like it. I just don't drive it much because of the URD one.

And of course, the Kunos 2017 one is solid as well, as long as you replace the s***ty stock sound. I drive this one the most in recent months, because it's stock Kunos content and non-paymods are easier for my league to run.

Balance is probably the most important thing in a championship, much more than realism . if a car runs 0.5 seconds faster than the others we end up with a championship mono cars .

this is the reason why she asks me on my packs, I made several at the request with new complete physics and 3d improvements ...

here is a list ...

DTM (ITC) 1996 , WSC 1971 , Superturismo Gr.A 1990 , Le Mans 2023 , Porsche 961LM and Audi 90GTO is most recently the F355 Challenge/Diablo SV-R/964 Carrera Cup/Alpine GTA V6 Europa Cup ...

Can anyone tell me what is the latest version for rt_suzuka?

I have 1.1 (downloaded from Breathe's list), CM tells me there is an update, but it can't download it.

Also, do you know if it's a free or paid mod? Where can I find the latest version (also for other rt mods)?

which sound do you use for the Kunos car?
 
What's the secret sauce to extend the engine rev limiter audio past the original parameters ? I know it's via ext_config and it was talked about here but can't find the page anymore.
 
playing around with the textures again to find the perfect match :D

Yeah, I have stutters driving the RSS 296 on any track/time of day. I found out if I use standard physics que car is fine, but if I use CSP Physics I get stutters, which renders the car impossible to drive. It happens also with the Porsche and the Mustang.
 
It'll be the URD then for the 2025 PCC Australia. The Kunos 991 with soundmod from overtake is a great car too - the mapping of the windows is not so great imo... at least from a skinning pov.

I've just installed all the Cars and make a few test with them.

First of all they are pretty well balanced, in Nurburgring GP there are 20 Cars in the same second!! In Hockemheim in 1,9 seconds... Well done!!

Unfortunately for my skills they are a little bit slower, I'll try to find a faster AI for those circuits.

One last issue IS a very strange one, the rims of all the Opel Calibra skins appears black in the circuito, when they are White even in the previews pics. I'll try with another CSP versión.

for me in preview they are also black ...

without CPS it gives white-ish rims indeed.
So redo the previews with CSP option on, then you have the correct same wheels in preview as in game. :lol:

Strange though why would they turn black with CSP? I don't have the answer to that ...

The rim´s color is coming most likely from the ext-config.ini inside the car´s folder, so when using csp previews it reads that extension folder. That´s why you have the black rims ingame and with previews.

that would be too easy ... as you see , that car does not have an extension folder nor a ext_config.ini !

That´s why I wrote most likely. So then, the file is somewhere stored in the extension folder of assettocorsa, like \extension\config\cars\loaded maybe.

hmmm ... nope, looked everywhere (and how would it get there if it was not in the installation archive ?)
 
Le Mans 1967...this track does weird things to the front end of cars.They get all floaty and waggle slowly back and forth.Feels likw a slack front end.Very distracting.
Any ideas why or a fix?Thank you.
