The PS3 had really weird processing and architecture that made it a nightmare to develop for compared to PC or the Xbox 360. More recent Sony consoles have been based on more typical PC architecture though. That might have something to do with it.
Not really, we are talking about unpacking game files and reverse engineering Polyphony proprietary file format, not the game executable which is what you're talking about.

EDIT : Theres actually a tool to unpack gran Turismo 5 data files the same one used for GT7.

But no one did a model extractor like in gt7

How come people rip cars from GT7 but cannot for GT5?
The GT5 cars can be ripped without any issues. You just need to ask in the ACMP or AutoWork Discords for someone to do it, or grab the ripper yourself and do it. People are mainly ripping GT7 models because of their higher quality.

I want to rip the F2007 from GT5
If possible i want to learn myself how to rip. You know, the old tale of giving a fish vs making the dude learn how to fish. Do you know where I can find that ripper?

No idea, People point to an website that i have absolutely no clue how it works might be just better to ask in here or here. Their discord's are mainly focused on ripping game content.

Doesn’t VRC already have a really good free F2007?

Thanks, will reach up to them

Yess, although their latest on is encrypted and can't do anything in it, it lacks the great glossy red paint the F2007 had, And the tyres doesn't look to great but since it's encrypted I can't change them.

No if i want to rip the F2007 from gran Turismo 5 its because I grew up with that car. From GT PSP to GT5 prologue - GT5 i drove an absurd amount of time with that car and fell in love with it's look which is a little different from VRC F2007, so I just want to drive my childhood car.

And generally speaking I've been collecting them all. The F2007 from test drive, the F2007 from rfactor, the F2007 from codemaster. I miss the F2007 from GT5 and my glove is full

In other words, Could i direct people to this creator Niney who's been converting a couple of GT7 models in excellent quality all for free and unencrypted!

With a Kunos car or quality mods , I get 90 FPS with 30 cars on the track.

With those mods, I get 40 FPS with only one car on the track.

The modeling is very nice, but Battlefield 6 is less demanding.

Does anyone know how to change the material of mirrors? Car in question is the IER Oreca FLM09.

They are just absolutely ****, like they're made of frosted glass or something. Unusable - basically look grey or blobby 100% of the time.

Tried disabling/enabling Smart Mirror and Real Mirror extension, no change. Tried changing the resolution up and down (was already 2nd from highest), no change.

A guy in my league (link in sig) drives in VR and he was very vocal about how awful they were, basically useless. Is there any way to replace the reflective material here?

Cheers to anyone who may know.

did anyone get this mod?

(asking for a friend)
I have it. It's not bad at all. Models are fine, AI is good. Cockpit positions are a bit close to the wheel and some have wrong autoshift (should fix that maybe). All in all a nice exotic experience.

Hi, I have this problem, and I hope you can help. After installing all the car mods from a backup disk (1008 in total) and perhaps an 8GB update on AC Steam, CM doesn't allow any offline races. It starts, but after a few seconds, it says race cancelled and the original AC launcher starts, crashing due to the number of cars present. I tried starting a race with just one car in the AC cars folder, without CSP, and with a new CM without customizations, but to no avail. Basically, CM is unusable.

I hope someone has some suggestions on how to fix it.

Thanks

I think for the first launch, you must start AC.exe without CM. After that, CM should run fine.

Mirrors look fine to me using Real Mirrors in VR.

Have you tried redownloading from source?

The quality of the models is beyond question, but the rest is not quite as good.
Yeah, shaders aren't great compared to a lot of other GT7 ports from other modders, but it's nice of him to offer these unencrypted for free.
Poly count, although high by pipeline standards, shows evidence of at least some decimation, but in oddly-chosen locations. We have baby bum-smooth surfaces that aren't ever seen in the Merc, yet the circular wing mirror (something we'll look at a lot) is noticeably polygonal.
Still, good to see some effort put in. AC Mods do some unoptimised GT7 ports with 2.8+ million polys, which for a lot of people will just be good for photoshoots.
By the way, if anyone struggles with poor frame rates while hotlapping mod cars, it might not be the model detail at fault. Try renaming the car's extension folder and you might find things go butter-smooth with barely any change in how the cockpit looks. I'm convinced there's something in extensions (probably lighting-related) that is a major resource hog, especially with the current trend of ridiculously-OTT 'War and Peace'-length configs. Renaming the extension folder might break the lights, but if you're hotlapping during the day it's not a critical loss. Modders really need to show some restraint with configs though, there's a LOT of unnecessary bloat in there that can cause performance issues for marginal aesthetic gain that nobody will probably ever notice anyway.
