My Guide to "Prestigeing"
Well, I have no real reason to write this, but I wanted to share my "prestige Philosophy" in order to hear what some of you think about it. So, first a small intro.
From the X360 beta in September '07 I instantly fell in love in XP system of COD4, and when Prestige system was introduced prior to game release I knew I'll be heading to GC in the end. I started my playing on X360 in November, and moved to PS3 in January because of my mates - there are 30X more owners of PS3 in Croatia then on X360.
Since I don't have all the time in world to play COD4, at this point I'm on Red Star 43, and I hope I'll grab GC in the next week. From that point onward I will finally settle myself and start collecting both gun-camos and al Challenges.
So, back to the subject - what is my "Prestige Philosophy".
1) Team Tactical
95% of my COD4 multiplayer was done in TT. Many reasons for it. In TT game is very stable, more stable then in any other mode with 12P. Also, I play with my friends only, and there is always 3 of us in a party knowing exactly each other's style of play.
With playing TT you can get as many kills as in any other 12P mode, while fights are not so hectic and erratical. You can control the battlefield much better, and tactics can actually be implemented because the surprise-counter-effect is minimized by having only 3 opponents on the field. Of course, team communication is priceless.
Also, by playing TT you actually play a variety of all in-game modes, thereby providing completion of the Operation Challenges simply by playing the game. Only excerpt is the need to finish Free-For-All Challenge (10 wins) which I go to play after the Stealth (silencer kills) opens in Killer Challenges.
2) Play all guns as they come
There is enormous amount of points you can collect just by playing all guns. I only do not play snipers at this point, since I always Prestige before need to actually play them.
Playing all guns is a very quick way to open Killer Challenges (rank 30) as soon as you can, because from that point you can start collecting many points from various challenges just by playing smart. Also, I sustain from usage of LMG's until Killer-CH because of Headshot challenges that opens on Lv30. From there on I start to use LMG's and that challenge completes then almost for itself.
Completing every gun gets you 1600 points in bonus, which is very useful in early stages of ranking. So, the fastest way to gain points is to actually play one gun until it's "finished" (150 kills). I do not waste time with completing headshot challenges for each gun - I'll do that after I go to GC.
My personal path is like this: MP5 first - in order to get silencer ASAP because I need it for S&D matches, then M16, Mini-Uzi, M4... I always have shotgun in one class, waiting for Shipment matches where you can "finish" it very fast.
Another benefit from playing all guns is that you actually get very much experience for every gun-type and map to be used on. Also, you can very easy use any gun you find on ground and know it's good/bad sides.
3) Completing all challenges as they come
I always play in order to complete every challenge possible as it opens. Of course, some are finished just by playing (Marathon, Heli-Kills, bla..), while some asks for modifying your classes or play-style (Last Stand, Martyrdome, Stun, Flash, bla..). I always try to do as many challenges as I can, while I do not waste time on some that are not "cost effective" (like Ouch challenge for example, which can cost you many points in order to get it, and you loose more points for getting killed instead of being the one who kills).
Playing as described I have provided myself enormous amount of diversification in game-types I play, weapons and so on. I know I'd probably get faster Prestigeing if I'd only play S&D or HQ, but then I'll loose fun in playing all game types. Since statistics (K/D ratio, W/L ratio and so on) are not important to me (I always found statistics as something that actually kills the fun, because if you hunt statistics you become somehow addicted to keep it in your favor - and that can be frustrating sometimes), this way I actually enjoy game more.
Of course, I could be writing down many other details, but even this is more then enough. As I said, my only intention with this write-up is to share my own thoughts and to eventually hear some comments. So, any would be more then welcomed. Thanks in advance and see you on the battlefield.
