@ icelt

The G36C is a pretty spray friendly gun. For example if I know somebody's around the corner on Wet Work I can start shooting just before I turn the corner.

Random observed odd behavior question - so playing Dom matches today on one game at Backlot this one guy would just stand there and fire up into the air while turning circles. I know for certain he did it just as the match started and then one other time when he spawned next to me. Initially I was just thinking "what a crazy git" (I mean it wasn't a HC mode so it's not like he could TK), but now I'm wondering if that wasn't a planned technique to let his/her friends on the other team know where out team members were.

Just kinda popped into my head so I though I'd check and see if anyone else had any insight.

I've seen that a couple of times. They tend to just spin around on the spot without moving around at all. Looks like they set the sensitivity to max as well...

It's possible you're right, but usually our teams have moved away from someone like that so our position isn't given away. I sometimes friendly knife them several times, then they stop spinning, say something in another language at me and starts spinning again.

I usually friendly knife people who are giving away our teams position, ie shooting the watermelons in Crossfire with an RPD. :dunce:

I used my headphones like you were talking about GT. I have a decent surround sound system but since my kids were trying to sleep i couldn't crank it up so i decided i would put my headphones on. They aren't too fancy but they do have noise reduction type stuff in them. I had it cranked up and the problem i was having was everything was too sensitive. Like if i would toss a grenade i could hear the thing pinging around and it would freak me out even though i just threw it. Everything sounded like it was right there on me. And if i was in a building just waiting for that guy that had chased me in there to round the corner...well i would think he was right there but i would be hearing him a floor or 2 under me! I prefer to just use my surround sound because of these reasons, also helps cause less paranoia! LoL

Having the surround sound while playing COD4 really helped me, and as breakpoint said, I got a little less paranoid as I was more confident of the whereabouts of the enemies.

As amar said (and has already a while ago), it's like a 4th perk. 👍

I do not play HC often, but here are few tips I got from a friend who only plays HC:

- silencer, Stopping Power and Dead Silence as a must, no questions there
- move slowly... ...no, that's not slow enough. Slower.
- never use frags without knowing your teammates position. Stuns are your best friends.
- be aware of sniping posiitions. If you're caught by sniper ANYWHERE do not go by that path never again, at least untill you've seen somebody killed that guy on info screen
- 90% of people on HC are using Last Stand or Martyrdom. Never forget that.
- have best surround system your money can buy :)

couldnt agree more about surround sound some great advice there aslo the surround so good for S&D you can hear them defusing the bomb

I would use headphones but I can't use the headset with them on. No headset = no complaining = no fun.

I managed my first ever 3 in 1 kill without use of grenades today :sly: G3+RDS+accidental deep impact i forgot to change... in a hardcore TDM my bullet got one guy in the head, other 2 in the chest. Yay me :sly:

Anyway, hardcore set ups should include either a UAV jammer OR overkill, as your bullets will be one shot kill i go for an SMG+Silencer for up close and an assault+rds/sniper rifle.
HTDM is home of the camper, so check your corners and make sure the way is clear before advancing on any position, never be fooled into sprinting towards an enemy for example in a building, someone will probably pop you as you run. The most important thing is situation assessment, respawn delays mean you can sometimes get a clear run on an otherwise impossible path. Otherwise you must keep yourself as concealed as possible whenever possible, snipers can be lethal in hardcore as no killcam hides there position.

The element of surprise however may be your biggest weapon of all, even with an unsilenced weapon you can flank round behind the enemy on certain maps, know your way round and utilise the sides with least fire on when making these moves. This can often be the key to victory as i just proved in a 17 kills 0 deaths round on Overgrown, the door was always left open round the rear thanks to the river bed. A quick one-man flanking move can quickly undo an entire team.

Remember, whoever see's first often shoots first and with hardcore, usually gets the kill.

I haven't played a lot of hardcore, but my favorite setup for HTDM with overkill was an M40 and a silenced M14. The silenced M14 kills in one hit almost every time, something I couldn't get other guns to do. It also works at longer range if you don't want to be heard. Other times I'd take a silenced M14 and UAV jammer.

Well I've joined a dedicated clan on the X360 - Chilled Gaming.

Not sure what to think really. I'm with a really good set of guys, but they want to do Gamebattle.com battles with other clans as well, which is pretty time consuming and takes away a lot of time to do normal ranked matches.

http://gamebattles.com/xbox360/call-of-duty-4/team/chilled-gaming

You meet some very good players this way... very organised. We're only going to do Team Deathmatches since Search and Destroy (the much more popular type) isn't our best mode and people beat us pretty easily.

Oh well... I'll have to see how it goes. It's time consuming because you have to do a connection test (to check if the players have minimal lag from the host), then have to setup the private lobby match properly with the appropiate rules on randomly selected maps, play the match which usually lasts the full 10 minutes since there's a lot of waiting and camping, and it's usually best out of 3 games, which are usually restarted several times since the rules aren't being follow correctly... Plus, you have to take pictures of the results incase the other team complains that you didn't win.

That doesn't sound chilled at all. :p

Hows this game work with the controller, Ive always found it hard to play these sort of games with one, They seem to go well with keyboard/mouse.

Having played the PC version... it works quite well on console.

On console it's more of a spray'n'pray type of combat at closer range, but it's just as easy to aim and kill someone short to mid-range. Longer range aiming it a lot easier on the PC because of its precision.

The lack of dedicated servers on console is the biggest problem IMO, so you get lag frequently if you join a host in a country far away from yours. It's likely this will happen to you severely since you live in Australia - not a lot of players play the game from there, as far as I know.

I used to use Gamebattles on Socom 2 PAL, quite successfully to, problem was i ended up dragging the clan i was with alot of the time, always the one who pulled it out at the key moments even if i played badly the rest of the entire game

I'm getting good at clutch game moments now COD4 especially, managed a 6 v myself win on Hardcore S&D to take the tiebreaker round yesterday :dopey: Rest of the game i managed 5 kills 3 deaths, nothing special. I use a MP5 silenced (red tiger :sly:) and an M16 + ACOG. In hardcore the ACOG is actually amazingly good in medium range combat like that often found on Backlot, or Crash. Why? because it gives a better view of the target and see first shoot first is the best tactic for Hardcore. Don't wanna be caught close range with it though, so pack your SMG with it to. Its not great long range to, but in that medium range situation its perfect, i mean perfect.

I find it more fun to use as well. Each kill feels that little more satisfying, also had some fun with an R700 + ACOG just for laughs

I found the change from Keyboard/Mouse to controller pretty easy. I was in a sponsored European Call Of Duty 1 clan though, so I was already used to the general feel of the game. Admittedly, sixaxis will take a while to get used to, but in next to no time you'll have the hang of it, just takes some practice :)

EDIT: My two favourite setups are:

Barrett .50 cal/Silenced MP5/Claymores/Overkill/Iron Lungs

and

R700 with ACOG Scope/USP/3 x Frag/Increased bullet damage and penetration

Set 1: Grrr i hate the Barrett, so easy to use i find.

Set 2: Makes up for that by being another R700+ACOG nutter like me :D M40+ACOG is good to, i managed to beat 3 guys on my own with one and stopping power on

It's easy to use, but I find the damage is really useful for Hardcore S&D, makes sure no one gets away from me :D

But its one shot kill with an M21 in hardcore, why not use the R700 again?

Well, I did leave that clan. Glad I did really, since the leader wanted to do only S&D matches from today, which is my least favourite mode...

I'm kinda in a clan, just go touring random rooms and its just my friend from school and guys he knows. I am the centre piece of the table though so it seems, often if i perform badly, we lose. I mean they're not bad players, but i usually have to be the main supply of covering fire. I'd like to find a proper clan, but i wouldn't know where to start with my dodgy mic.

I just got the game and I must ask...what is the EASIEST way to get XP to move up the ranks and unlock all the multiplayer unlockables :D

Well, you're in luck if what Wallrunner says is true - there's double XP this weekend. ;)

But to gain the most XP is to do the weapon challenges - 150 kills each gives you a big 1000XP boost, including the other XP bonuses for reaching 25 and 75 kills. Other challenges give you XP but the weapons will give you the most.

Doing Headquaters matches will generally give you a lot of points. Sabotage and S&D will probably give you more overall, but only if you're a good player. Headquaters will be much more reliable and you'll get many more kills for your weapons that way.

Go for headshots too. It's good practice anyway and you'll get XP bonuses from that too. 👍

According to UPS, it will be delivered June 9. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

 Double XP means nothing to me at all because i'm not going into prestige, ever.

any of you guys use the xfps thing for keyboard and mouse controls, im thinking of getting one ,all the years of cs1.6 with k&m
i just cant get it going on with the joypad
just wondered what you all think about them
