From experience, when we try to organize something like this, there will be some no-shows. Damn near certainty.
This is definetly likely (oxymoron
) we have 20 people so far, if we get 60% attendance I would be very happy.

It will be almost certainly a private match with the numbers we have, also private matches gives us a bit more freedom to organise during the event i.e by those with mics, because there isn't a timer in between games. It shouldn't be a problem, who really wants to up their prestige these days

I just realised, if we do ground war we can have 18 people can't we?
If we have > 12 then ground war is certainly an option, it depends on how stable our connection is as a big group. From my experince ground war has the most lag (funnily enough
) so if we encountering lag issues we will most likely split the party in two, perhaps for those with and without map packs, or whatever we need to find out who has map packs first
Proposed rules
Private match: as stated preveously its almost certain we will be playing a private match. This willl help us choose our rules. I would like to hear what game modes people like, but I assume the most played game mode will be Team deatmatch. We used to play these very succesfully, the host would pick different maps and game types according to numbers, and then within the game options the host can make the rules, we normally went for 10 minute games hardcore mode but with killcam turned back on (because many people enjoy watching how they get shot
)
This worked well so unless people have big issues with this, this is probably how we will play.
We may as stated before have to split into two groups if everyone does indeed turn up, if this is the case, if people who have the map pack feel the need to break away into another group that might be an idea, it depends on how close to a 50:50 split we have, ideally we want both seperate matches to be similar in size, just for the sake of fun really
The issue of who's hosting is one which perhaps needs sorting out, I am a bit behind times when it comes to knowing who carries a stable connection. If anyone who has played lots of COD4 GTP'ers (I'm looking at you cf
) knows who carries the best hosting connection for various positions on the globe (quite an ask) please offer a few suggestions. From memory, my connection is %#&*
So everyone is wondering about time and date. This is the hardest bit, I am looking for the sooner the better for the sake of maintaining interest. Tonight obviosuly isn't the night as I am sure many likeminded fellows will be consuming copiuos amounts of alcahol whilst celebrating the new year, for those of you in Oz, you've probably already started partying 👍
For cf sorry but I wouldn't recommend starting your partying just yet
I digress, point is I think GMT 18:00-22:00 will serve everyone best globally, coincidence has it its also the most suitable time for me
and january 1st seems as good of night as any (morning after a big night out for the Americans though

). Please let me know if there are any issues with the proposed times. Please note that there won't be one single time that can please everyone, we will have to play this one by ear.
If there is something that you feel I haven't adressed, or there are problems with my plan, or perhaps you just plain disagree please post about it, remember to bare in mind its going to be nigh on impossible to please all 20 people (20+ potentially) so its not going to be perfect for everyone. 👍
