Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare

My interest was beginning to wane a little too recently. I was stuck in the high 30's to high 40's levels, where you've gained all the useful challenge XP and you're just slogging your way though games getting very little reward for your effort. In the end i got to the next prestige level, with all the weapons and challenges to do again, and now i've become more interested in it once more. 👍
 
I've started doing regularish Saturday evening games with a bunch of us from another site - we tend to get 6 or seven of us and either slope off into HCTDM matches online or, fnarr, play with ourselves to similar rules.

I use my non GTP_ account and we start at about 2000GMT (9pm UK time - after Casualty finishes and all our spouses no longer require the TV). Feel free to come join us :D

COD4 is officially getting dull.
 
And to think all the good memories we had playing this game. :(

Hopefully we can all get MW2 when it comes out and we can enjoy the game together, like we did in the early months of CoD4. :)
 
I noticed something the other day, it's probably something thats already been pointed out too. You know when you complete the storyline, it comes up with a post card with a picture of the SAS guys on. It says the postcard is from "Semper Fi", the first mission of Call Of Duty 5 is also called "Semper Fi". Coincidence? Or the only link between the two :lol:

Given that the US Marine Corps have had "Semper fi" as their motto since at least the beginning of last century, I would opine you're reading too much into this.

Probably....I just saw it and thought it was a coincidence.
 
I can't play COD online at the moment because every time I try the update it takes ages to hit 1%, then I get frustrated and turn it off.

Has anybody actually read and bothered doing as the PEGI rating says?
And anyhoo it's just somebody's opinion of how appropriate the game is AND it's just a recommendation.
P.S. to Scaff I'm always playing Saint's blimmin' Row 2 so your opinion won't change anything, especially since I ignored it.

Yes - people who are good parents take it as advice on what constitutes a suitable game for their child.
 
I had GTA3 when I was about 11. Admittedly my parents didn't know I had it.

Exactly, and I think the keyword is advice here, ultimately it's a parents decision and the rating is a guideline for what to expect. My parents have always been fine with buying me games like GTA since I was about 11-12 because I was matture enough to take it in stride and not attempt to try and imitate things I see (but they'd often investigate further themselves, particularly when I bought Manhunt). They never ignored it, they just stopped enforcing it once they knew I had grown to a stage where it wouldn't be a problem. Clearly not every child hits this stage at the same time and some will kids will imitate games and so on right up until the 16-18 rating of a game.

No parent should just ignore them if they have the slightest care for what their child is exposed to.

This is the wrong thread for all this though, and the entire topic has been discussed over and over in the general forums.

Seeing as I have three kids, two of whom are older than you are, yes I have read PEGI rating and used them as a guide as to what I feel is suitable.

However its not just from a content/age perspective I'm approaching this, but my intense dislike of little kids streaking down the mic in COD4 about what they are going to 'own' everyone.

Oh and 911_Lad, keep going, your attitude and posting manner at present simply means it very doubtful that you will stay here that long. Famine and I (and others) have tried to offer advice and help in regard to how members are expected to behave here. You are the one ignoring that advice.

You are correct in that PEGI ratings are advisory only. However, COD4 has been given a 15 rating by the BBFC, and a BBFC rating is enforcable by law. So not only do your parents not seem to care about your upbringing, but they are also breaking the law.
 
Ill watch it later, I started and my god it was laggy as hell! It might be my end but I need someone else to check it was unwatchable....

I would like to formally announce that Infinity Ward are dumbasses for making hardly any DLC for CoD4. I mean, come on! Look how many people bought the map pack! It's a shame that the biggest selling game of 2007 (right?) got hardly any support from the developer 👎
 
I know what you mean! This game had to have much more DLC. More maps, guns, or challenges..
 
So many people would've bought it... I don't understand.
 
Im watching it again and it isnt lagging, in the intro how do you get the out of the map pans? Good stuff, nice to watch.
