Hey guys, i just got lvl 34 and thought, YAY R700, but it seems so useless in comparison to the M40A1 i was using previously, is it just me having an off day or is it just generally much less accurate? Im still doing ok with it, roughly 1.5 k/d ratio per game but my AVERAGE is 1.63 or something. Just wondering if the R700 is as awkward as it seems to be, or is it just me?

I find the R700 awkward as well, and prefer the M40. I can't quite put a finger to why though.

Yeah I much peferr hard core as well... Although I'm level 51 and I'm just trying to get as many challanges done as possible so I can prestige... I dident realize how long it takes to level when you get up past 45... I can't wait till I turn 54, It'd take me 3 days to get my next rank!

Famine, what games do you usually play? HQ and HTDM? I did get some of your invites before but the server was full each time. If you're (or anyone else) on later I'll try and invite you into a few if you want. 👍

It sounds like I'm missing out by not playing HQ. Heck I think I've maybe played a total of 5 matches since I bought the game in Nov. One problem I have with it, for whatever reason, is I still can't see what is the/a good strategy for HQ (as opposed to Dom where I can clearly picture what I and the team are trying to accomplish)? I end up just running straight towards the HQ and I seem to usually pay for it. So it'd be nice if you guys could give me some pointers here.

Seeing as Famine mentioned the G36 there, I remember a couple of weeks back someone mentioning it would give it a try on Hardcore matches.
But I can't remember who it was...

Anyway, what's everyone's take on it? G36C on Hardcore matches, I mean.
I find it incredibly useful, so much better than an M4.
Outside Hardcore mode, the G36C is utterly useless, in my opinion.

Yep beerz that was me. And I've been using it on HC ever since. The other kit right now that I have for HC CQC maps is the MP5 and the M16 if I feel like trying to snipe on crossfire or countdown. Both are UAV Jammer & Steady Aim builds, with SA changed out for Deep Impact on certain maps.

Anyway, yeah I do like the G36 for HC. It seems that when fired in very short bursts the accuracy is decent enough, even at long-medium range, and of course it is plenty mobile for tighter situations. The clip capacity is relatively excellent and I generally feel pretty comfortable with the weapon. Thanks for suggesting it beerz.

My main problem, as with all the guns, is my natural tendency to try and make my right thumb mimic my eyes. That is to say I try to dart my aiming around the screen like my eyes dart around. And save for the 1 out of 100 lucky shot, this is a bad, make that a very very bad habit. I know I'll never be much more than a 1.0 (+ or -) K/D guy unless I can get improve on this.

Probably the best one to grab out an SMG. 👍


EDIT: Whatever it costs in USD, it will be probably the same here in €, which means we get it 50% more expensive than you guys.
Anyway, my feeeling is that, due to all the problems the players have had (and still having) with the online mode - being the lack of dedicated servers the main one -, they should be giving these maps for free, as a compensation...

Yeah, I'm thinking it'll be a much larger version of Shipment. Basically 1 continuous outer circle, with some interesting bits crossing through the middle.

Damn straight they should... ain't gonna happen though Obviously with the insane sales they've seen, currently about 7.5 million WW on both platforms will little signs of slowing, coupled with beating H3 on the 360 most played game online rankings the past several weeks they are feeling rather proud of themselves. And in business that almost always equates to "give'em more of what they want 'cause they'll pay for it."

Random aside here, last week I hopped on with my Japanese account login just to see how big the ps3 CoD4 leaderboard was and I can report back there is now more than 1,600,000 online usernames registered. Although that does equal the exact number of unique players, it's still a damn big and damn impressive number!

Yeah I was just trying to see what you wanted to do, stay private or ranked. Cool that me hosting was working pretty well, although I've only got a 3Mb connection.

Me Picc and Ceiling were trying to get into each other's parties and games last night but it seemed like the servers were totally full, non of the invites connected. Even when searching for matches by myself I couldn't get into any type of match, I tried em all.

For HQ what I like to do is once the HQ has been assigned, I try to find a place where I can watch for the enemy team running to capture it and don't necessarily go for the HQ right away. Many people just run straight for the HQ and are pretty easy pickens.

Also I started using the G36 for HC matches and it does the job surprisingly well, in regular matches I find it almost useless but in HC if you can put 2-3 shots in mid-chest the enemy is usually downed and the bigger clip size means you don't have to reload all the time. Pretty reliable weapon, but I think it should be in the SMG category.

@Champ - I soooo understand how you feel right now. I didn't tread into the online waters until Jan, took me a little while to finish the offline, and boy I was so unprepared. Like you I hadn't played a FPS in a very long time. For me the last one I spent any real time with, I almost shudder to admit this, was Doom II. I know, I know... geezer

Although it's gonna sound too obvious, just stick with it and keep playing. Probably just as important, don't be completely passive either. Choose your spots naturally, but still the more you mix it up the faster you will improve. And as has been recommended by many here, take time to learn the maps. Either by sheer blunt force of playing in ranked matches over and over (although effective, this method will hurt the k/d), by playing around by yourself in a private match or getting with a few of us again in a private match. Do you have a headset? If so, I would be more than happy to walk around some of the levels with you sometime. I'm sure others here are also willing. Maybe even get a small group together, then you can practice certain shots and see just how effective certain cover techniques can be, or not be depending.

One important thing I just thought of, try to think of the edges of the screen as approx equaling the width of your avatars shoulders. So basically if you're standing behind a wall and you think you are hidden because you can't see past the corner, that might not actually be the case. If any part of the screen, right or left, is displaying a view past the wall then another player can see that much of your body. And in this game, if any part of your body can be seen it can also be shot. We've all died from shots to the feet, etc

Also GT, man the chatter was annoying in those last 2 dominations matches we were in. I'm guessing that is partially, if not mostly, why you took off. Anyway right after you left one of the SA's on the other team commented, "looks like he was afraid blah, blah". What part of "video game" do these 🤬 not comprehend? Amazing, and this was a clan of what, 4 prestigers if I remember correctly, that you had just handed their butts to. Sad and funny.

Got my highest match bonus ever today, in a Sabotage match at Downpour. I had 49 kills and we won with less than a minute left. The bonus was 602. How exactly is match bonus determined?

I mainly left because I had to go, but I wasn't particularly playing well anyway. 80% of the time I always get the best score on bog, and I only got half the score of the Max Prestiger and 2nd Prestige "IRISHMAN" we were with. If I knew they said that afterwards I really would have tried to get their asses kicked.

Oh my god... I can do some crazy shots with the RPD on the PS3. The draw distance may not be as good as the 360 but it's certainly clearer in the distance. An example is an across the map shot on the map Overgrown where it's difficult even for a sniper to do an easy shot.
