I think my best streak is 10, but then I'm not too good on CoD4.
My bro' has decided to play the game on Veteran and is now on the final stage (getting into the silo etc). Thing is it's ridiculously hard and utterly unfair gameplay on Veteran. Don't play it if you have a tendancy to break things. Luckily my bro' just swears a lot.

My nephew was getting his arse handed to him so I took the controller and avenged his death, knifed the sniper that knifed him a few deaths ago, took a couple other dudes out for a wopping 3 streak kill. He did quite a bit better once I showed him how to run. :)

Being bereft of internetz and loathed to buy another SIXAXIS (I'm waiting on the Dual Shock 3), does this game still offer enough as a single-player experience? The most fun I've had playing a game like this, though, was a two-player game when you had to hunt each other down and I scored about 6 kills - unfortunately most of them were accidental suicide bombings

BTW I'm rubbish at multiplayer games anyway, and would get my arse handed to me plenty online...

I thought the single player mode offered plenty of fun gameplay. You also get an arcade mode unlocked after you beat the game.

$60 USD worth of entertainment? Yeah, not sure about that.... But it was fun and I'm glad I got to experience the game. Haven't really had time to get into the online gameplay so much.

I would say it's kinda like you come for the single-player, stay for the multi-player or atleast thats what it was for me. I had a ton of fun playing the single-player its just a bit short. I now love the multi-player and lose hours to it, it is so much faster than the single player. Ccurrently at lvl 34 Major.

edit: after last night my new streak is 20, I was sniping the whole time, didnt die once so my record was 20 kills and 0 deaths.

This game is the part! single player is intense, and a little short. Still, multi-player mode more than makes up for it. I can't get enough of the online mode - what a blinder!

The only complaint I do have is that the servers are STILL not working 100%. A couple of my buddies struggled like fook too get online last night. They were dancing around online and offline trying to connect, it was ridiculous! Still when your on, nothing beats a good ground war or sabotage.

I also heard that they might increase the number of players per match some time in the future. It would be excellent if there were matches with 24, 32 or even 40 ala R:FOM (R.I.P.). Hope they manage to pull it off in a future update!

IGN's Guide is now up. Doesn't seem to have too much to say about multiplayer but it does have plenty of good tips for single player and a mission by mission walk through as well.

Call Of Duty 4 is so sick. Especially with the level up type system they have for online, i love it. I play with my buddy and we just attack those headshots and kills for the level ups. I think were at like level 33 or so but the graphics are stunning too. I cant talk enough about the game.

wow, i got brave the other night and tried to snipe, I failed miserably. But seriously, I could use a game like that to bring up my k/d ratio, its currently like .94, which isnt bad, its just average, and I want to get it back up to over 1.00.

Got this game yesterday, can't get enough of it!

Already did a few online matches and loved it. It's so realistic, so immersive... 👍

I still mix the controls a bit on some situations (blame R:FOM), but no biggie. And I have to know my weapons better too.

And I have a question: isn't there a faster way to throw back the grenades? It seems so slow doing that. Everytime I see the icon and press R2, I think it's going to blow in my hand... (can we kick them away?)

Nope just press R2 as soon as you see it, if they held it for a couple seconds than the fuse will be shorter and have you blow your arms off. Either throw it away or get the heck out of there.

I think I am a lieutenant Colonel lvl 39 right now and i think my k/d ratio is at 1.42.

I succumbed to temptation and got this game at the weekend... as someone who is rubbish at these types of game, I have to say it gives even the novice a great experience and it's easy to learn. I hope to be able to work myself up to a level where I will be able to survive for longer than a microsecond when I eventually get back online with my PS3. I did laugh out loud at my incompetence on more than one occasion on Saturday, though... creeping up on some dodgy Russians and taking our positions, I thought I'd be smart and aim nice and early so that I'd be ready for when the shooting started. Unfortunately I hit the fire button instead of the aim button and all hell broke loose...

The graphics are stunning, and I'm glad I bought the game already 👍

 It is a great game. Much better than I thought it was going to be. :)

I picked COD4 up when it came out and have loved every bit of it, played through the single player twice already (with the Gillie suit mission about a dozen times and the nice quick little 'extra' mission as a stress buster after work).

On-line is blinding fun, its everything that I had hoped R6:V and GRAW2 would be (but weren't), a great balance on multi-level maps with lots to find. I also love the very well thought out progression, with the unlocks and customisation. Work has been hectic, so I've not spent as long on it as I would like, but its managed to replace Warhawk as my on-line game of the moment (with Assassin's Creed for the off-line moments).

Hope to see you on-line sometime TM, then we can stumble around together.

Anyone played it on Ps3 compared to PC? My uncle just got the PC version and it's pretty insane.

Anyone here interested in having 'GTP-members' matches? I just did one with "CrazyJoeDavola" and "magburner" on a small map and it was great.
Good enough to see how much I still suck on this.

Anyway, I think it would be really cool to have matches against people we can relate to, so whoever's interested drop your PSN-ID.
I'll try to get a mic within the next few days, it makes things even better. CJD (who kicked my ass bigtime, btw) had one and it's frustrating not to be able to respond and comment on the stuff that's happening.

Hope to see positive feedback on this. 👍

Sounds good to me, my PSN is in the usual place so anyone who hasn't already feel free to add me.

I've got my headset already, so I can bitch and moan every time I get shot in the face.

Great!
I already had you on my buddy list, will be on the lookout for you too.

I try not to get shot in the face (I'm too good-looking to afford that  ), which explains why I'm shot or stabbed from the back half the times...

I'd be up for it. Although truth be told I'm a big fat noob to FPS's like this. I never really got into them before, well other than the original Return to CW but that dudn't count anymore, so although I'm doing ok on recruit I feel confident I'm just gonna get my arse handed to me ;) I'll take like a man though and not a whiny 🤬.

Any recommendations on BT headsets... ideally cheap yet quality if possible?

I can't wait to try this out online. Alas my place has no phone-line and I'm only staying there until the end of January, so it will be a while until my PS3 is back online. I actually had to bring it in to my office at the weekend two weeks ago to download the GT5: Prologue demo

I am ashamed to say that I finished the game last night in only my second sitting :guilty: But I was on Recruit and you're fairly invincible, really. I'm going to play it again on higher levels until I can hone my skills a bit. I'm seriously tempted to get another controller too, so I can play it multiplayer with my mate who's staying at my place all of next week, but it seems such a waste given that the SIXAXIS is almost obsolete already.

Are the game modes for 2 player games more than just one-against-one, like do you each have a team of guys etc.?

Ack!

Rumor: PS3 Patch Breaks Call of Duty 4
Shortly after the PS3 firmware update rolled out, the message boards at the Call of Duty 4 forum began to light up with reports of error messages. Some players reported that they received an error message immediately, while others said they played for as much as two hours before they saw it.

The PS3 version of CoD4 has already had issues with the multiplayer game, including lengthy wait times and connection issues as a result of overwhelmed servers.

Infinity Ward is looking into the complaints, but is "skeptical" that the firmware update is the issue.

Error After 2.01 [Charlie Oscar Delta]

I suppose it'll take some time to resolve who's more at fault here, but for pete's sake Sony finally has a 3rd party smash hit on their hands and yet it keeps having online playability issues. You'd think they'd have a special motivation to help IW make sure this game plays buttery smooth online under all foreseeable circumstances. And I think extensive testing of an OS patch falls into the category of a foreseeable problem. :grumpy:

Great! One more for the fun.
I don't know about the headsets, but I'm trying to find the charger to my cellphone's bluetooth thingy (it's out of juice), hoping it will work.

Touring Mars - as soon as you're good to go, let us know. Looking forward to shoot at you.

Looks like we are finally getting some people, Ill add Scaff and Icelt as soon as I get online tonight and whoever else wants to play. A GTP clan would be awesome. Can't wait to own you guys  see you out there!
