The G3 is a great long distance weapon, I have moved on to the G36 because I prefare mid-range fighting, or even getting the p90 and fighting with that at a closer distance.

No connection here in the last 20 minutes :( ... what a joke, I just want to play damn it! ... boohoo :p

Seriously though this is annoying

Man, I've been playing like crap since my last post; I feel like I'm always on the wrong place at the wrong time...

Mr. Claymore - welcome to the club! I too love the G3, use it to snipe frequently. If it had a full auto fire (like it has on the single player mode), I'd need nor use any other weapon. You should try the M14 (with RDS, because it feels like crap without it). Now, that's pure power! And as accurate as the G3.
The M4 is an excellent weapon, despite it's low power, but sometimes ticks me off with it is that you can't hold it still for shooting decently farther than 50 meters. Even with the iron sight, it's constantly moving around...
The G3, M14 and M16 feel like they're mounted on a stand; they don't budge a milimeter. 👍

Reached level 55 the other day. Nothing left to do but finish all the challenges.

I always thought that I would never want to have to do everything over again, but now, at level 53, I have nothing to unlock, and frankly, its not as fun. I cant wait to start over again.

With the Prestige mode, I just don't think it is worth it at the moment, trade in all my stuff for a silly little logo for while I am in the lobby or in game for a split-second. What is the point of saying:

"I am at 6th level Prestige!",
"Ok so what else have you done?",
"Nothing but look at my symbol!"

To me its just like you keep on doing it over and over again, the same results doesnt seem like a good use of my time, I would much rather stay at 55 and get to know all of the weapons and have fun with the big guns. And those of you who have been posting here for a while, know that I have been at 55 for a real long time and could very well be into 4-5th lvl Prestige if I wanted to.

I'm at the first Prestige Level 53 and I wont be moving on to the next too soon either, I want to see how many of the crazy challenges I can complete :) The various Prestige emblums means less to me than all my guns and perks 👍

I just had a game on Countdown where I was doing really well sending in 2 airstrikes and 2 helicopters and my total was 33/7 which aint too bad ..
I thought I should have won! but no way! some guy only level 38 'without even being prestige' was on a rampage and had a win with 48/5 ... he was pretty damn good and won 2 matches I was in with him by a mile to be honest, I suppose you've either got it or you've not! and that dude obviously does

... the jammy git :p

Thats what Prestige mode is there for.

Yes, but I don't want to do Prestige mode. I like having two primary weapons instead of a crappy pistol. I like having 3 nades instead of 1.

Prestige mode? No thanks.

Then I would argue it's easy to get up to the levels you unlock the weapons again. IMO leveling only starts to become a little hard again past lvl 40 - by then you've unlocked almost everything decent except the .50 cal.

The Desert Eagle is not crappy. When I get into very close quarters situations I pull that bastard out instead of my M14. Works like a charm... But anyways:

What's your custom slots like? I think this is the best part of the game I'm always changing around my slots trying to adjust them to work with a particular map or gametype. Here are mine:

For maps like Crossfire, Custom Slot 1:
M4 Carbine(ACOG Scope)
Desert Eagle
Perk 1: Frag x3
Perk 2: Stopping Power
Perk 3: Martyrdom
Spec. Grenade: Stun

For sniping, Custom Slot 2:
M21(currently leveling)
M1014
Perk 1: Weapon attachment: Grip
Perk 2: Overkill
Perk 3: Iron Lungs
Spec. Grenade: Stun

For an all purpose use assault kit, Custom Slot 3:
G36C(M203 attachment)
Desert Eagle
Perk 2: Sonic Boom
Perk 3: Martyrdom
Spec. Grenade: Stun

All purpose semi auto kit, Custom Slot 4:
M14(Red Dot Sight)
Desert Eagle
Perk 1: Frag x3
Perk 2: Stopping Power
Perk 3: Deep Impact
Spec. Grenade: Stun

I call it the Ghost kit...Custom Slot 5:
M14(Silenced)
M9(Silenced)
Perk 1: C4 x2
Perk 2: UAV Jammer
Perk 3: Dead Silence
Spec. Grenade: Flash

I'm trying to level the M14 till I can get the silencer for it and see how that works with the "Ghost" kit since the MP5's range is horrifically cut down to next to nothing with the silencer. I made it specifically for Search & Destroy gametypes but with the range of the silenced MP5 it's useless on more long range maps. So I'm usually resorted to using it only when i'm defending or not use it at all.

Holy poop Eric. I'll have to type out my specs when I'm not intoxicated and don't have myself sitting in a game lobby. I'm going to try out your ghost kit for sure. 👍

Prestige IS fun, without it game would be dull IMHO.

First time you need an eternity to do something, but second time it's faster. Third is a breeze, etc. You need like 10 minutes to get to Rank 5 to open Custom Slots, and then the fun starts. I've done Prestige on my Xbox game twice, while I'm playing it for the 1st time on PS3. I needed 9 hours of the game to get to Rank 30, and now when the Killer challenges are finaly opened, the fun can start for real.

Prestige is great, it has nothing to do with the symbols beside your ID, it's pure F.U.N. It also makes you learn to use all the goddamn weapons in the game - in order to do your rankings faster - which is also very good. Prestige actually makes you a better player, since you're no strained with idea you have to use only your preferred weapon/slotting. Not to mention that you actually have a walk in the park with some challenges in Prestige, because you actually have an idea what you need to do, and you actually know how to do it.

BTW Beerz, what happpend yesterday? I tried to hail you twice in my Croatian party, you didn't showed up :)

I had a pretty good go on Headquarters today. On average I think I managed a 1.0 KD ratio. Also, I got to play on Shipment for the first time. It was pretty crazy and I ended up with 72 kills to 58 deaths.

I used the M4 with the n00btube attachment, Juggernaut and Martyrdom.

Sweet, but I got the silencer for the M14 and it's better for the kit so use that. But I guess it's personal preference. After doing a few matches it's not very effective as an offensive kit in S&D, strictly defensive. What I do at the start of the defending round I put a couple of c4 around the target that usually gets bombed then find a place do camp at the second target. If i'm last then I usually just wait where I am with the C4 trigger ready and when I see defuse on the c4 stuff I blow it then either that's game or have to hunt the other X amount of guys left. But the range is worse than I thought it would be. On downpour that ladder that leads to the roof which is right next those to water towers. I was there and I was prone looking at a sniper right next to the mounted M249 and I aimed right at his head and shot just once.. nothing. So be aware that the range is terrible on it, or any silenced weapon.

G.T

I quite agree. I'm currently on level 41 (or 41, can't remember exactly) of 3rd Prestige, and the more you go through the whole process of starting over, the more experience you realize you have, so it gets easier and easier.
You get to level 10 in less than a day of casual playing, and then you start completing some of the challenges naturally, which gain you XP that boost you up to level 20 or more within another day. After that, as you'll have some of the most useful stuff unlocked already, it's not very different than being on level 55.
Unless, of course, you absolutely need an MP44, a Barret .50Cal, or the Eavesdrop perk to do well through the matches, which is unlikely. :)

I'm like that too, I'm constantly changing my Classes, sometimes even before a specific match, to change a perk that fits that map better for example.
I can't remember exactly what I'm using right now on all my slots, but I'll check at lunchtime and post them here.
BTW, great setups you have, pretty cool combinations. But do you like the ACOG on the M4? I find it useful (on any weapon) only on very specific situations, such as your target being at mid-range (or a bit less), or running across your field of view, and the zoomed ACOG helps to maintain the aiming at his speed. Other than that, I've never got used to it.
Also, you're using, like magburner also, a 'ghost' or 'stealth' setup with the Dead Silence perk, is it really worth it? I've never tried it myself, as I can be pretty stealthy without it, even on maps like Bloc; I use current fire noise to run without being noticed, then walk, and when I know I'm getting close to someone, I crouch and move in silence. Wouldn't that perk be more useful with the Extreme Conditioning? I'm just asking, as like I said, I've never tried it.

Anyone knows if the stats are working already?

EDIT: As far as silencers, I only use one on the M4, (which has a pretty good stock sight), because I find it using it on any weapon that allows it, and it's also visible when you attach it, makes the range decrease A LOT, like said on the post above.
I'd never use it on any SMG, as I've tried it already, and the weapon was only effective at melee range (gross exaggeration, but you get the point).

The M4 is the only weapon so far that i've loved having the ACOG scope on. The only maps I don't use it on are very close range oriented maps like Vacant or definetly the psychotic shipment. It's mostly for mid to long range maps. (I really don't like sniping) I just unlocked the M14's ACOG but i'd imagine it's not going to be good since it's recoil is probably the worst in the game. I'm not sure but not alot of people think smart like you do. Even I mess up most of the time. Countless times i've been the last and planted a bomb and heard steps in the building so I knew someone was coming but if I didn't i'd have been completely unprepared and probably killed. It's just a nice perk and I can't think of anything really in the Perk 3 category that would help me be more stealthy since that's the point of the kit but I understand what you mean. ;) What i'm trying to say is most people don't think about it and just rush up and you can hear them and that's what most people expect and listen for is footsteps. But I can't truly tell if the perk is helping me or not.

Even on weapons like the M16, G3 or M14, which have brilliant accuracy and hold perfectly still with an RDS (making you able to kill a bug on some guy's forehead at a considerable distance with a single shot), the ACOG wobbles just the same as with an M4 (which doesn't hold still even with the plain iron sight), therefore ruining it's accuracy.
As far as the M14, the stock iron sight isn't one of the best, but I've picked up one the other day that had the RDS, and found it extremely lethal, with a considerable lower bullet waste. Can't wait to unlock it again.
It's easily the most powerful Assault Rifle available on the game, and if you tap the trigger twice in fast sequence, it's a kill. I also love the looks it has, beautiful weapon, and most of all the sheer 'bang' when it shoots, you can definitely hear the power.
Of course, anything more than a 2-shoot in a row, and the muzzle lifts up high, so it's better used by someone that can aim quickly, you can't spray with it. I also found it more useful than the G3 (which you can tap all you like, since the recoils is zero) for closer encounters, as it's higher stopping power will kill anyone with a few squeezes of the trigger, in which case the recoil isn't that important, as your target will be much closer. Chances are, you'll get a clean headshot by the 3rd shot (4th if the tango's equipped with the JuggerNoob (counting he isn't already dead by the 2nd bullet). :D

Yeah I definetly like the M14 with the RDS, I used the M14 with the ACOG and the recoil was not near as bad as I thought it was, it was quite effective except I was using it on a short-ish range map so I'd say it's alright but i'll have to use it more. I'm still trying to test out my ghost kit.

Well it just worked beautifully. Put C4 on defend B on downpour and took position at Defend A, waited till I saw movement at Defend A or untill defend A disappeared defend a disappeared and b was planted pressed C4 planter died, popped out saw sniper shot him twice at mid range killed him and defused the bomb. :)

BTW with the silenced M14 Mid range is about it's limit of capability as far as range.

I don't know how I missed this post a while ago...

I totally agree with what you're saying about the PRestige mode, it does help you improve a lot as you're not accomodated (sp?) with the same 'cool' weapons and perks, and it drives you to bo better than the rest with less tools than the others.
As far as I'm concerned, going through the Prestige ranks has improved my gaming a lot, although I find myself being sometimes very inconsistent; I can play a few awesome matches, like yesterday afternoon (22-4, 30-3, 17-0...) that come out as brilliant, or I can totally suck for some unexplained reason, like when I joined with other GTP members at night (11-11, 14-17, 18-13...), only having one better match (22-8 if I remember correctly).
I'm still to find out why do sometimes things don't go AT ALL according to what I had 'planned'.

On the invite thing, It happened what unfortunately usually happens; I accept them and it kicks me out of the online mode.
One of them arrived while I was in the lobby searching for a match, I accepted instantly (less then 2 secs between it arriving and I clicking on 'yes', and still it kicked me out saying it was unable to connect...
Finally, I ended up getting in on Stevisiov's party and invited everyone that was online.
What I'm doing now is only waiting for invites, and after there's at least 2 of us, I invite everyone I see online.

Crappy thing is, like yesterday, Scaff, magburner and GT4Genius joined us, but magburner and GT4G got thrown into the opponent team!
It really sucks because it surely has nothing to do with balancing teams (nonexistant until this day), and if they were invited by someone and got in the lobby before teams were selected, they SHOULD stay on the team of the person who invited them.

EDIT: speaking of croatian, I got a croatian guy on my team on one of the matches, and he was really cool, despite his poor english. But he was perfectly understandable and very humble, which I like in people.
He was really happy to have just unlocked thr RDS on his weapon (don't remember which) and every now and them he praised that weapon saying he's killing much more people now.
It was a really fun match at Ambush, everyone with a headset was either funny, helpful or at least not childish, which sometimes is downright annoying.
This other guy was always saying stuff like: "man, this weapon sucks, I'm dying a lot with it", and after a while I'd hear him say: "God, the P90 is sucking too, gotta choose something else"...

Hm, maybe you have "static IP" problem - yesterday I finally got to make my console's IP static, have opened "mysteriuos" 3095 UDP port on the router and voila - for the first time I have no problem whatsover with hosting.

Additionaly, I've opened this ports too, read somewhere they're COD4 specific:

5223 to 5223 TCP
3478 to 3479 UDP
3658 to 3658 UDP (NAT 2)

+ COD4:
3074 to 3074 UDP
3075 to 3075 UDP
3095 to 3095 UDP (host issue)

And do you remeber the ID of that humble Croatian? Maybe we could make him a resident on our clan?

I'm gonna eventually go to Prestige 6 because it has a cool logo. I mean, I figure I might as well since it's just another thing to do and all the challenges get erased. I totally maxed out everything and finished all challenges before doing prestige though.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

I just played a Sabotage match. Every time someone got the bomb, they got killed. I found a nest of enemies, killed them. It was 0-0 until 32 seconds from the end. I found the bomb in the middle of nowhere, picked it up and ran to the enemy base with no wingmen. I planted the bomb, defended it with two compatriots who'd turned up by then and, ker-blammo, 2 seconds from the end of time we go 1-0 up (killed three of them at the same time :D). I (there is no "I" in team, but there is a "me") won the match.

So why the exasperated yell? Because I scored the lowest number of points of anyone in the match. I got 312 bonus points, which is by some way a record for me but even so... Grrrrrrr.

I totally understand you, Famine.
I think Sabotage matches are the ones where teamwork is fundamental to do something. Even on Domintation, a guy can capture a flag on his own (although it takes some skill and a lot of luck, as it takes forever to capture with one man only), but on Sabotage, I really don't understand what some people are doing sometimes.
I've (like you, me) won a Sabotage match once, in Pipeline, also very near the end, and it was only because I used the tunnels underground to escape the enemies scattered throughout my path to the objective. Once in there, I threw everything I had until I got the job done. And of course, I got extremely lucky, as NONE of my team mates got there to help: some of them were too busy sniping from the hill (I was on the other side of the map near the abandoned cargo containers), others were hiding somewhere... It's sometimes very frustrating when there's only 1 or 2 guys on the team that are actually trying to play properly while all the others are just trying to gather a better k/d ratio.

On a side note, I did a TDM at lunchtime on Backlot with the M16, got a 18-1 k/d ratio.
I just wished my stats ignored the first weeks of play and the occasional crappy matches...

Speaking of stats, THEY'RE BACK UP!!!
Everything's working fine now, it retrieved every single bit of info of what you've done these last 2 days, it's all there, nothing was lost.
Nice to see my k/d is now of 1.5, my accuracy has been improving each day: was 15,34% a couple of weeks ago, now at 16,10%, which is not easy due to the already huge amount of shots fired - same goes to the k/d ratio. 👍

So it really works? How do I do that? :dunce:

Static IP can be entered on console in Network Settings by choosing "manual". You should know your DNS incoming/outcoming before though (you need to enter that too) as well as other numbers required there. But it is eaqsy thing to do. Once you've make your console's IP static, you can do port forwarding/opening.

Notice that port opening is needed only if you're connecting through router. If so, there should be option somewhere in router set-up via computer to do "Port Forwarding". There you should enter the static IP of your console for each port you want to forward/open, and enter the range for every port - as written above. TCP/UDP are case sensitive when opening, so be aware.

Oh, so it's only for router.
So I guess I'm stuck until the patch comes, I have no router. My internet comes from the cable my TV signal comes too, same company. Pretty stable too. 👍

On the Croatian fellow (sorry not to have mentioned earlier), I don't remember his full username. All I remember is it started with 'croatien' (yes, with an 'e') and had some more letters after.
It would be really easy if CoD4 had simple feature (to be implemented with the upcoming patch), which is a list of recently met players. I'd just have to search through it and see what his username was.
I miss that list too, since I've already been in matches with a few Portuguese players, but didnt wrote their names and quickly forgot who they were...

EDIT: In case anyone's wondering, and although I have cable TV... no, I don't have the porn channels, they cost extra money which I don't want to shell out just to see what I can get IRL.

I am having absolutely ridiculous lag in every game I enter today ... I started to think if I stick with it then maybe it will go away! but not to be ... my player seems to be floating on the ceilings and flying 20 feet above some of the maps, I go through walls like a bloomin ghost and in the meantime the opposition are still killing me? I watched a kill cam where this guy shot me dead on Strike in the back alley as my player is headbutting a wall it seemed ... wtf?? I'm about to lose my patience totally and give up for today as even the games that start with a normal feel soon turn into a full on LSD hallucination :yuck:

anyone else getting this crap also?

I sometimes have what you mentioned; matches that start perfect and within a few minutes I get the feeling 'something's not right'... although I've never experienced going through walls or anything like that, not even remotely close.
But when I get a match with lag, I finish it (unless it's way too mach, in which case I quit), and search for another one, hoping to get into a server without lag. Usually works.

Also, I got a new error! :sly:
It was when I clicked on the leaderboards, it stood there for a few secs saying it was downloading them, and then it came:
"read ststs error 112 – ‘BD_LOBBY_INTERNAL_FAILURE"(yes, ststs, not stats) How cool is that?

EDIT: invite me when you see me online, guys. I'm always willing to team up with members here. 👍
