How come any thread I open or see that has anything to do with TT2 gets put on lockdown? There is obviously interest from the gt5 community, and they could be very much in common with each other. They could quite possibly even be the same game with a dlc bike pack.

I want a bike DLC for GT5 too, or even for GT6. Kaz did say he's saving more of the content for GT6. 👍 Bikes meets cars FTW, just not on the same track with each other...

Xbox 720 (or whatever) is verified for 2013. It was going to be Christmas 2012. I doubt Sony would let that slide without a system to compete with it.

They should.. they have Naughty dog... polyphony, etc and judging by the renders they have made on ps3 that can be played easy real time.. on the next gen system.. its not the graphics, its the animations, ND is the king of this..

It has also been reported many times that indeed the PS3 has a ten year release cycle, but so did the PS2 (article here). Just because they release a new machine doesn't mean they stop production of the previous version, and it also doesn't meant that they will wait until the 'ten year' mark to release either. PS2 was first released in 2000 and still in production in early 2011 (and possibly now), a good 5 years after the release of the PS3.

The ten year cycle 'minimum' doesn't mean that is when they will release the next console, just that Sony envisage that is the base lifespan of the console before they consider winding up production of it. Demand will dictate its ultimate lifespan. They would be mad to rest on their laurels until 2016 before releasing a new console but I don't think we will see a PS4 in the next 18 months either.

I completely agree 👍

It doesn't. It's your imagination.

You created this thread in February in the Tourist Trophy forum. It has never been locked. You did, however, create this thread in March in the GT5 Q&A forum - despite it not being a GT5 question or answer - asking why it had been locked when it hadn't. That was locked.

This is the thread that I was asking about being closed https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=243932
not my imagination.

Although my thread may not have been 100% directly related to GT5 it was related indirectly. I was also trying to make the point that if PD chose to add bikes to GT5, the threads relating to bikes or TT2 are directly related. Also trying to gain some interest and discussion from some people that may not otherwise check the TT forum since that game is so old. Maybe I should have worded my thread differently and tried to relate it more to GT5. I just couldn’t understand what seemed to be an eliteist attitude towards gt5 including bikes or TT2 being discussed on a GT5 forum. It seems logical that if PD decided to do anything bike related that it would share the same game platform as GT5. The last sentence in my locked thread was something along the lines of can’t cars / bikes coexist within the same game? To me that does make it related very much to GT5.

Side note, there is at least 1 motorcycle engine already in the game.

You didn't make it. The only thread you have made about TT2 isn't closed:

How come any thread I open or see that has anything to do with TT2 gets put on lockdown?

All you referred to in your whine thread - that was closed - was "the TT2 thread".

Although my thread may not have been 100% directly related to GT5 it was related indirectly.

Yet completely directly related to Tourist Trophy. We have a Tourist Trophy forum. Things about Tourist Trophy go in there.

I was also trying to make the point that if PD chose to add bikes to GT5, the threads relating to bikes or TT2 are directly related.

If PD choose to add bikes to GT5, it's still GT5. If they make a new game with bikes called TT2, it's TT2 and not GT5.

Also trying to gain some interest and discussion from some people that may not otherwise check the TT forum since that game is so old.

I know the feeling. I want to ask people about something from Gran Turismo 2, but people may not check the GT2 forum since that game is so old. So I'll just post it in the GT5 forum - after all, it's not 100% directly related, but it's indirectly related...

Maybe I should have worded my thread differently and tried to relate it more to GT5. I just couldn’t understand what seemed to be an eliteist attitude towards gt5 including bikes or TT2 being discussed on a GT5 forum.

GT5 is discussed in a GT5 forum, hence the name. Tourist Trophy is discussed in... the Tourist Trophy forum. Hence the name.

It seems logical that if PD decided to do anything bike related that it would share the same game platform as GT5.

Tourist Trophy shared GT4's platform. We don't have TT discussion in the GT4 forum because it's Tourist Trophy, not GT4.

The last sentence in my locked thread was something along the lines of can’t cars / bikes coexist within the same game? To me that does make it related very much to GT5.

So a generic question somehow magically relates Tourist Trophy to GT5 enough that you are exempt from normal, sensible forum structure and can post discussion about Tourist Trophy games in a forum other than the Tourist Trophy one?

Side note, there is at least 1 motorcycle engine already in the game.

There's at least one tank engine already in the game. So let's discuss Battlefield 3 in the GT5 forum, shall we?

Tourist Trophy = Tourist Trophy forum not the GT5 one. Just like moderation queries don't go in GT5 Q&A, they go in Site Support. Or how GTPremium queries don't go in GT5 Q&A, they go in Site Support. Or how search engine queries don't go in GT5 Q&A, they go in Site Feedback. Or how PS3 hardware queries don't go in GT5 Q&A, they go in Site Support. Or how comments about motor shows and real cars don't go in GT5 Q&A, they go in Auto News or Cars in General. Or how questions about how to use a completely different site to this one don't go in GT5 Q&A, they go on that site and not ours.

Rocket science it isn't.

^^^ Wow! For a moderator there is a lot of attitude and sarcasm in there. Nice, real nice.

I am not going to start an online pissing match with you. But you do confirm the elitist attitude I was speaking of.

Administrator. Any "attitude" you read is your own interpretation. There is no sarcasm at all (except the GT2 bit) - but then sarcasm isn't banned for use by site staff.

You are habitually posting whatever you see fit in the GT5 Q&A forum whether it belongs or not - including calling out the staff on moderation decisions  You have told me you have done so simply to get attention - this is unacceptable.

No. I confirm that if you're going to post about Tourist Trophy, you do it in the Tourist Trophy forum and not anywhere in the GT5 forums. If there was an "elitist attitude" towards TT and bikes, we wouldn't even have TT and bike forums on this site - but we do.

It is not a complex concept. If it's about Tourist Trophy, it goes in the Tourist Trophy forums. If it's about bikes in GT5, it's not about Tourist Trophy and goes in the GT5 forum. A thread about Tourist Trophy 2 is about Tourist Trophy and goes in... the Tourist Trophy forum. It's that simple.

My point was simply that if PD so chose to add bikes to GT5 any threads about bikes would be related to GT5. Whether a thread uses the term TT2 or GT5 with bikes, in my mind it is the same thing since they are related. But I see your point that they are separate as well. There surely can be discussions that crossover can't there? How many GT6 threads have we and will we continue to see? GT6 is not GT5. But surely you can see the relation.

Gtplanet is my favorite website, and has helped me vastly since I discovered it. This discussion leaves a bad taste in my mouth, but I don't hold against the site. I will buy a lifetime VIP whatever it is called to support the site.

Agree to disagree. You win, let's move on.

GT5 + bikes = GT5; TT2 = TT2; TT2 != GT5 + bikes

GT4 + bikes = GT4; TT = TT. TT != GT4 + bikes. Notice the separate forums.

Very few. Where are they? In the predecessor game's forum. So where would TT2 threads go..?

^^^ I already said you win. You're the best. There will be no opening your mind or changing your opinion so agree to disagree and move on. It is not necessary to get the last word. Both you and I have completely derailed this thread. We can go stand on our soap boxes and preach elsewhere.

Anyone wishing to discuss motorcycles be it part of gt5 or a separate title please visit my thread in the TT forum.

Ah, that'll be the attitude you were complaining about in other people.

There will be no opening your mind or changing your opinion so agree to disagree and move on.

Yes, in many ways it's my fault for being closed-minded that you decided forum structure doesn't apply to you on multiple occasions. Quite why you think this was ever up for discussion escapes me.

Go to the main GTPlanet forums page. See all those forums? Each has its own scope and many have subforums with their own scope. This particular one - the GT5 Questions & Answers forum - is for questions about specific parts of the game and answers to those questions. Since there's no bikes in GT5, asking about them in this forum in any respect is contrary to the scope of the forum. Random musings about bikes in GT5 would be better placed in the main GT5 forum which is for general discussion about GT5. Neither is a suitable forum for Tourist Trophy discussion.

For all your bluster, you don't yet seem to have grasped this.

It is not necessary to get the last word.

This is a forum. Not only is there no such thing as "the last word" (until we lock a thread - and even then other staff can still post), but the whole concept of "get the last word" is irrelevantly misguided.

Both you and I have completely derailed this thread.

No, you have by yet again deciding that you can question moderation decisions in public forums and in the GT5 Q&A forum particularly. I am a member of staff and I will not let spurious and patently false accusations about my staff go unanswered. You see fit to complain about us in public and so we will answer you in public.

Your play.

Merely stating my opinions which I believe are still allowed on the world wide interwebz.

And yes you and I derailed this. As far as I know no one else or "your staff" has input their .02

Had you simply stated threads of this nature are better suited for the general area or even moved the thread there I would have understood. But to stand on your high moral ground and preach to me about it and act as if total forum anarchy is coming if there is a bike thread in a q&a forum is silly.

I said more than once to agree to disagree and move on. I don't know how to be more diplomatic than that. I also said you win, that was to let you that I know where you were coming from even if I didn't agree I did understand. I also said you win so you would be quiet about it and move on with your day.

Done playing, so do with this what you will. My intentions are not to create waves on this site.

And yes you and I derailed this.

No, you did. You made a stupid, unfounded accusation about this site's staff, in public and in a GT5 forum.

You want to walk away from that? Simple - you retract it.

Do you remember when I locked your thread griping about "the TT2 thread" being locked? I do:

Famine
mjm23race
I understand that TT2 is not GT5.
Thus it doesn't belong in the GT5 forum. Neither does this, as it's a site query at best.

But to stand on your high moral ground and preach to me about it and act as if total forum anarchy is coming if there is a bike thread in a q&a forum is silly.

Again, the hyperbole you employ stands in the way of your comprehension.

You have posted multiple non-GT-threads in the GT5 Q&A forum. One was a query about moderation staff (in which you accused us of "hatred" for "bike people"), one was a query about our site's search engine, one was a query about GTPremium, one was a question about PS3 hardware, one was a comment about a motorshow and one was a question about a completely different site.

The forum structure exists for a reason. The fact you ignore this reason because you want attention for your threads is irrelevant. Whether you believe the reason isn't relevant or not is also irrelevant. I am reminding you of your obligations as a member. I have implied nothing about anarchy, occupied no moral high ground and preached nothing. I have simply told you how things are, pointed out that you are not adhering to this and told you to do so.

Ah, this will be from the same school of thought that says "getting the last word" is relevant on an internet forum.

You made a ridiculous allegation about this site's staff. In public. In a GT5 forum, when discussing a topic that has nothing to do with GT5. You have expressed no contrition despite being shown the error, but you have reiterated it in different terms and then tried your hardest to be patronising about it.

This goes away when you drop it or when you retract it.

Seriously? Whatever.

As I stated in my TT thread I wasn't aware there were other areas of this site until recently. I found this site by googling gt5 forums and never strayed from the gt5 area. This is my fault, and I accept responsibility for it. I was also used to other forums i belong to being a little more lax. So far you are the only mod I have come in contact with that I know of. I would say you (probably self admittedly) have been less than pleasant. But if that's how you rule your roost and show your dominance then whatever. I don't think I made any personal attack or remarks. So if it makes everything better and makes you have a better day I retract anything and everything I said.

Should we hug it out?

Then we're gravy.

Logic, the PS1 came out in 1994, the PS2 came out in 2000, the PS3 came out in 2006. There are all six years apart so logic would dictate that the PS4 comes out this year

Thanks for the facts. :)👍

According to their previous release dates I also expect the PS4 around Nov/2012. For sure it'll support full 1080p HD games. I am really wondering what would be the first game they are going to release on the PS4, "GT5 HD"? :D

...Personally I would rather have the next generation sooner rather than later, tech is moving a lot faster than it did between the PS1-PS2 and PS2-PS3 era's...

So true. :)👍

I was kinda mad to find out that the PS3 doesn't play games in real 1080p (only upscaled) as I bought the GT5/PS3 bundle. Nearly everyone has now a full HD TV & the PS3 is now the "outdated" link in the chain. :guilty:

Imo they should create upgradeable consoles, where you can replace the grafic chip, cpu & ram later with newer, more powerful versions (like on PC). Then the customers could get more out of their consoles over the years (if they want) & Sony would make a bit extra money. :D:tup:

I read somewhere (think it was in metros gaming section) that at a Recent show there was a PS4 at the back of the Sony stand. No one actually got a proper look at it! It was specualated that it was just an empty box there as a marketing gimmic, or just to get people talking about Sony again.

Sony have had a pretty dire time lately. Floods and earthquakes have hit Asia and Sony has taken a hit on each loosing production and stock. Then there was last years Hacking Issue where PSN was down for weeks. I know people who so needed a COD fix they bought an Xbox in this period. There were quite a few PS3's in the free ad's around here!

If the technology is ready they may bring out the PS4 Early to generate some cash!
