I wonder if Ferrari are going to be laughing down all the internet fools who are spreading these rumours about the car being rubbish and "B-specs" etc at the first race. Just because the F10 looks more conservative than the other cars, doesn't mean it will be slow, on the contrary, it ensures it should be reliable and consistent.
But we shall see in a few months time..
I agree....in this case you can't judge a book by its cover to begin with, especially considering that a lot of the magic happens toward the the rear of the car with the new multi-deck diffusers. Also, the new rule changes for 2010 will place many new and very critical demands (fuel mileage, tire wear/performance, performance throughout the fuel load, etc.) on the designs of the cars (that weren't there last year so much), making any credible judgment between the strengths and weaknesses of the designs really quite meaningless until the last few tests/first race comes around.
I also think Ferrari will introduce some fairly dramatic changes to the F10, which we may start to see at tomorrow's test at Valencia. I'm of the opinion that they were hiding a few things (front and rear wings particularly) at their launch last week, simply because there's absolutely no point in showing their full cards so early on for other teams to evaluate.
If anything, I reckon by mid season it'll look completely different. Somehow, I don't think that the RB Nose cone is going to work on a Ferrari.
Why are so many generalizing that Ferrari has made a direct copy of RB nose and applied it to their F10? The overall shape, size, and length is still vastly different, with much different pillars as well...yet people talk as if it's the same exact design, simply because they see two prominent bulges on the nose cone to the direct the air flow around the cockpit. Of course they are going to take a certain design cue that they feel would benefit the performance (like many teams did with DDD) and apply it to their car. Many other teams have copied Ferrari's designs over the past decade or two, so it's nothing new.

And what intuition do you have that makes you think the F10 nose design won't work for Ferrari???

FYI, the Toro Rosso STR4 was basically an RB5 chassis with a Ferrari engine. The only real difference being that Toro Rosso got many of the new developments/updates a few weeks or months after RB initially introduced them on their RB5 chassis.

I couldn't tell you the exact reason for them doing that (as it could be a number of things).
At the end of the first day of testing, Ferrari is on top. Alonso will be in the F10 tomorrow 👍
