Decided just to do nations at the last minute with minimal practice.
I managed to qualify 6th in a pretty stacked field.

The race was incredible. There was nobody falling off the track. The top 6 were stacked together battling the whole race. I managed my way to 2nd after 4 laps with multiple side by side battles. I didnt manage my tires good enough during the heat of the battles. Someone got on the inside of my going into the last corner. I left room and still got bumped off the track. Pitted early on lap 7. And was able to undercut one place. Watched the leaders from 3.5s back the rest of the race finishing where I started, 6th.

Cant figure out how to share my replay here

Nations race was hard. All 16 laps being/aplying pressure. PD, PLS, MOVE THE LOW FUEL WARNING SIGNAL AWAY OR FUTHER UP THE SCREEN!!! I dont know how this thing is still an issue. Shouldve been fixed ages ago. It almost cost me a position, the thing blinded me the whole last lap and a little bit more.

At Manufacturers, i was really impressed with the hotlap pace of the Citroen, it was a really good car here. But, i knew that, with its terrible tyre wear, i needed to be smart to win it. And i think i was.

Amazing races by “El Profesor” hellzfire. Credits to Ebrahim for the great nickname

Brief summary of an amusingly chaotic manufacturers race in which someone engaged rage mode on oscaro drivers, three crashed and I overtook two. Super fine line between me and rick with the pits - he got held up for a few corners on his outlap which meant I just held onto first and with newer tyres was able to pull away later in the race. I think my new record for winning from furthest back (in a 2700+ point lobby). I think most of the top 10 came from way back as well because so many people died. Also, check out the end - 20th place finished ahead of 19th place???

Having been near the top of nations and down in 20th in manufacturers early on, with the last few rounds I've dropped out of the running in the nations and I'm back up to 3rd in manufacturers so... Normal service resumed

Yeah the manufacturers race was a chaotic one for me too. First lap I was as high as 9th and as low as 15th haha. Finished in 12th which is probably my best result at Yamagiwa+Miyabi. It's not a track that has been too kind for me, especially in the Z4 which was painfully slow against the GT-R on the straight bits.

Let me ask you something. Do you do the editing using the share factory app or on a pc?

I really like the replay camera angles, would add another dimension on my videos.
I currently use VSDC free editor to do my vids. All I really need to do is trim, crop and mute the replay. Oh, and sync the videos. The pit stop sequence is the best spot to do it.

Shotcut also works.

Next Nations event at Dragon Trail - Gardens GR3 is a nightmare for some cars that don't have the stock gearbox that fit the track or have any problematic torque excess out slow corners exit or chicane.
I would say 2/3 of the cars i have tested show some nasty behaviors due to this. Tuning for sure would put most of thise cars at the same level ....... but .... no tuning , because it's more fair some people say.
Anyway, for who don't have so much time to test , the good cars i have found till now are
Porsche GR3
Citroen GR3
NSX GR3

Renault can do the job too, all tho i’ve heard that it’s not very good in race. 29’s are also can be done by a lot of cars: Viper, Lancer, Subaru, Vette, Ferrari

Anyone know where I can find the Manufacturer points? And I don't mean the players, I mean the brands themselves. Only the top 16 brands can send someone to the finals. I remember seeing it once on the official site but can't find it anywhere now.

Different cars work better on different tracks. Swings and roundabouts. This will not change with setups. e.g. Red Bull is faster on handling circuits while the Ferrari and Mercedes are faster on power circuits. They don't all become equal with a setup. The only difference is that the guy without a top team's dedicated setups guy, without 50 hours a week to spend tuning every car, without the knowledge or the interest will suddenly become 2 seconds a lap slower. Also it is a million times more fun doing a few laps testing which car is slightly faster than spending a million hours adding one to left rear bump stop ride height spring load and having no idea whether it improved or not.

no but @mthomas_95 sometimes calculates it for us

This, this and this. Everything I have wanted to say in response to the cries for tuning's return, but never had the patience or give-a-s**t to do so.

Video of my Nations.....a little sloppy but a fun race nonetheless.

Great race

That was the most fun I've had in an FIA race to date. Intense battling from start to finish lol. I couldn't save the replay though :( Thanks for the clip sir. Any chance that you can share the replay data or post the rest on your channel?

Sooooo true, I will always remember my Le Mans race where I spent 5 hours on just the brakes.. I got them to a point I was happy for 1 person to come along with a completely different set up on brakes and in a way that it abused ABS and he could get more hybrid power from the way he tuned the brakes... 5 hours I spent... Tried his trick instantly went 1 second quicker (Different game but same principle). For me I want the fastest person to win not the person who can tune a car to a games physics engine (Which in any game has their own qwerks and isn't true to real life, e.g. GT6 had extreme front and rear suspension heights from memory).

I did this for season 1 which I'll do for season 2 as well. Obviously it's always a rough guess because things vastly change between each season. Different combos mean some manufacturers getting faster than others.

You were to quick for me! I blew through my tires to quick to try.

Can you see it here? If not I can upload the whole thing. It got boring for me after I ended that video.

Haha sounds familiar to me in McLaren's WFG on rF2. I spent like 6 hours a day on it for the first two rounds and finished 136th & 122nd respectively about 1.8s slower, didn't bother with the last two rounds. It was frustrating, boring and demoralising because you just know unless you get the right combination of 40 different settings or whatever your laps are completely futile.

Having a quick look at the manufacturers top ranked drivers(in Europe), they are in the following cars(in order):
Nissan, Mitsubishi, Dodge, Honda, BMW, Renault, Lexus, Mazda, Citroen, Ferrari, Ford, Subaru, Jaguar, Chevrolet, Porsche, Aston Martin

but Mercedes, Alfa, Hyundai, Lamborghini and Toyota are all pretty close (best Toyota driver is ranked 50 in Europe at the moment, while Astons is only 40). Looks a lot closer than previous seasons.

Only cars unlikely to stand a chance are Audi, VW, Peugeot and Mclaren - afaics.

Is this really true? I don't have much experience with sims other than GT6/GTS so I'm open to thoughts, but if the tuning in GTS is akin to a puzzle without rhyme or reason than what purpose does it serve?

Knowledge about setting up a car is incredibly important IRL, why would PD purposely, or carelessly, not honor this in their flagship esport title?

I've just test 7 cars for the moment and i'm showing the easy fast one. Aliens can drive anything fast during half an hour ..but not the most of us.
This will not change with setups. e.g.
In my post i only speak about gearboxes with better stages than others and consequently better for this track and also about cars with smoother torque curve and/or better stagged gearbox that forgive more out slow corners. So YES , a 5 minute setup can change this , not to be 2 sc faster , but to help the average driver like me to complete 10 laps at a good space without spinning. That's all.

Who is crying here? I'm just expresiing my opinion about this. Any problem ? By the way , i don't know racing game or real racing, in real life or not , that prohibit settings . It's part of racing as the art of piloting , since the roman chariot races.
No tuning allowed ? only this ...... and GTS :

Wonder if there will be any bop adjustments from pd between seasons based on global stats. You've got some elite drivers stuck in uncompetitive brands for the rest of 2018. Something has to be done to level the playing field along the way.

I believe you have to be on the console to view the replays so I'll check it out as soon as I get home. Thanks for sharing!

And I got a bit of a gap while you guys battled it out in the beginning of the stint but my tires fell off too and I fell back into drafting distance toward the end. The second half was even close than the first :scared:

If I can drive without spinning you can learn to drive without spinning. Plus you'll still spin with a gear setup. It's not 5 minutes to make a gear setup for every car on every variant of track it would take hours and it would be extremely boring. It will be more complex than you think to get the perfect gearing for each track.

I think the contract is only for the official 2018 FIA Championship Series. So everyone is stuck with their chosen manufacturer until after the final race on September 8th. My guess is there won't be a Gr. 3/4 BoP adjustment. It doesn't really make sense, because everyone had a chance to test and choose before the races started. I think PD was warning people to choose wisely when they sent out the updated contract information.

I know how many time it take to do this , in 5 minutes i can do a gearbox and LSD that will let the car if not faster , a lot more safe. I don't see the point to learn to drive a 🤬 car with a generic LSD setting that want to kill you every slow corners exit. Like i've said, it's an option, a blocked one but still an option that exist in GT since the beginning and i hope they will release it again one day , making more happy a lot of people . Perhaps not you and some others significant proportion or players , but we all have the right to wish a way to play this game. My wish is with a tuning option , can be partial to begin with , LSD and gears.

Generally pd's tunes are horrible and I am sure most would agree
