You're right about the benefits of multiple attempts. This was my second attempt at Nation's and my tire management was definitely better than the first go. I actually had to do a 2-stop on the first race and dropped 3 spots because of it. But this time I knew to stick to slow-in, fast-out and square my corner exits. The extra practice definitely paid off...
I would've been in trouble if you had managed your rubber better in the first stint though!
I did eventually figure out how to save the tires but my pace was still not great. Me and Interlagos don't get along well.
That 5-second penalty got me 🤬 up... LOL gr though
Based on experience and watching others have the same issue, if you even touch someone going into T1 and they go off the course (intentionally or otherwise), the game thinks you pushed them off and you get a 5 second penalty.

Ooh, Nik's youtube channel managed to successfully dual stream with Makozi_Akademik and himself at the same, looks like they're getting ready to do the same for today's FIA races. :)

Cant wait to see some dual commentary up with face cameras and everything. That'd be pretty cool.

Edit: oops, videos look like they can only be played on YouTube, my bad.

Manufacturer Series EX S4 R2, 20:10 Room: Sweepers and RNG Chicanes
Manufacturer: BMW (Car Used: BMW M6 GT3 M Power '16)

The skills that I've learned from the Yamagiwa II "Daily" Race B several weeks ago, plus watching Dauble-Weapon's replay in the FT-1 makes me relatively prepared, even if I was a bit frustrated by the chicanes, but got my Free Practice time down to a 1:32.381, and that's with such a behemoth of a car! Race comes and I got thrown into the 2nd Split (at this stage, I usually got thrown into Top Split lobbies with massive points, but aliens being aliens, they were just that too fast for me to catch up, unless I got lucky) with the winner recieving 1556 points at the end of a race. Initially, the lobby was full, but three people fell victim to the "sent back to the main screen" bug. Qualifier begins and I initially got pole until a Peugeot and one of the Mazdas beaten my time, as I ended up having a sloppy final attack lap after pitting in twice after setting a banker lap. I've decided to start the race on full Hard tyres and concieved a 2-stop race with two switches to Mediums, since long sweepers + M6 + 15X Tyre Wear is a bit of a recipe for disaster. Race begins and bits of a naughty tussle with one of the RC Fs ensues, but the battle quickly ended after a bit of a naughty tap into T1 on the 2nd lap costed him time, resulting him getting overtaken by a 2-stopping Itasha RC F. Pit Stops came and the Peugeot comes in a lap earlier for an undercut 2-stop, while I myself and said Itasha RC F pitted a lap later than the Pug, plus another M6. I accidentally cut the first "chicane" out of the pits, giving me a 3.3 second penalty, which made me stuck behind said Itasha RC F, but thankfully I passed said guy a few laps later as I went in for my 2nd pitstop on Lap 9, then just ran away to protect my podium spot to finish 3rd and get 1361 points as the Peugeot RCZ and a 1-stopping Mazda came home in 1st and 2nd respectively. Probably going to use this strategy from now on...

What's the nations car choice for tonight then?
US leader board was fill with these yesterday.

Tokyo South's ******** penalties pop up again, as I get 3 seconds for someone driving in to me on the back straight on the last lap. I'd ruined my own race with a spin earlier when top 5 looked on but that's just infuriating.

ABORT MISSION REPEAT ABORT MISSION

Went 12th to 4th through all the death, because apparently your qually lap is entirely worthless outside of slipstream

Killed Calster because apparently there's a 50m slipstream brake differential into the hairpin, but it wasn't a big deal (already apologised and worked it out)

and somehow escaped with my life to 2380 points, and won't touch it again with a 50ft barge pole

8 guys got Negative SR, 1 guy got reset lol

TL;DR: Another race falls victim to Polyphony's Slipstream Weak fetish

Is FIA worth doing at the moment? What with the ABS and penalty glitch, I had some good races in the practice lobbies for Nations today, no cheaters, no silly penalties, think I'll settle for that.

That slipstream effect in the braking zone is lethal.

Nations race is a disaster. Made a couple of mistakes myself but my SR went down to 74 from 99. Had to do some dailies to get my SR back up for the manufacturers race.

Went from 12th to 4th in Manufacturers, running a 2 stop. M/M/M, on lap 5 and 9.

Interesting thing happened though, my livery didn't load. My suit and helmet loaded, the little preview of the car at the right of the screen when you go to track had my livery, but that car was standard GT-R. Apart from the tyres, which were Bridgestone. Very odd.

If I run the same race again, will it pick my best result or will it over right my points even if I do worse?

Gotta say while the stream was fun the racing wasn't to be honest. They seriously need to reconsider this multiplier as it's just to dangerous now. Literally 1 lap difference between people causes collisions :(. I made a mistake tonight and missed someone on their flying lap in qualifying and caused a collision because I'm having to drive round at 2 mph so I have some tyres for a fast lap and by the end of that fast lap I'm down over a quarter of the tyre.... Then in the race I literally can't race, I'm driving a corner tip toeing, rather than putting down any sort of pace because the tyres just disappear on cars. In MR cars it's deadly and so much oversteer, FR it's understeer so you end up with some really strange situations during a race. I'd say the current racing is not actually racing and more a survival match on who can last with tyres... I just hope it changes to be honest because currently I don't think it's in a good spot :(.

Yes, as @Tidgney said above the tire wear is a joke in Manufacturers. I qualified 5th in an 1800 something point room (as the 9th cede so I was happy with that) but started the race as the only one in my group on hards so I was just an obstacle, and somehow everyone else managed to make mediums last 4-5 laps, when I literally burned them to a crisp in 2 laps. I killed the Hards in 4 or 5 laps. But tried doing a one stop. Considering how many incidents I was involved in I looked to be in place for 8th-9th at the end, until I crashed multiple times on the last lap on fully cooked tires and ended up 11th.

The correct strategy for me in the FT-1 was a 2 stop on hards it turned out, but I don’t want to do the race again after managing to escape with only losing 200 DR.

You know it’s bad when in Gr.3, not even mentioning Gr.4, the tire wear differences between cars are massive gulfs. And having to crawl around in the way for your out lap in qualifying is silly as well. You shouldn’t be penalized so much for taking slightly the wrong line through one corner or touching the grass like you are now with x999 tire wear.

I’m just planning on entering a few races (the ones that I find fun) as a ringer this season, tonight at Yamagiwa, the Gr.3 at the Blue Moon Oval, N200 at Maggiore and the E-types at Brands. Maybe the Gr.3 at Suzuka and the P1 at Nurb GP if I win that car through the lottery since I’ll never have that much money. Can only imagine what oval racing will be like with massive tire wear.

Are FIA races in between short and mid-range time races still, or have they actually made longer races? One thing that’s always turned me off was how short they are.

1 try at Nations. Practiced lots because I don't know the track well. Qualified 5th. Finished 11th. Lost 100 DR. 1 SR. Meh. I'll take that. Probably deserved worse.

First turn slipstream is stupid. I knew to watch for it. I was extra careful. If I slowed down anymore I'd risk rear contact. It's like someone puts oil on that turn and then wipes it up after lap 1.

Are you sure you had it on the right car? You might of put it on a car you already own and not the sponsored car, which is the one that is used in FIA.

I don't know if I am crazy, but I raced all 5 races tonight (albeit in lower ranked rooms than you guys are mentioning (1000-1200pts rooms), and I ended up with really good and clean races in all 5 of the manufacturer series, managed to make Mediums last 5 or so laps, lot's of overtakes, not many senseless penalties, and managed to up my DR about 2000 and my SR stayed at 99... Is it really that bad once you reach higher DR's?

Shameless plug, I also scored my first FIA event win

Tokyo and weak draft, recipe to disaster. And it was. A bad qualy, not good pace in the race and inumerous collisions made my SR drop to 84 after my first try at Nations. Went to do it again to recover it back to 99 so I could try again, dropped back to 77, then I had a big problem, I still needed to do Manufacturers. People just can't figure it out when to brake when on draft. Once you get punted and go way down the field, the probability is you'll be hit again most likely and get more pens, destroying your SR. This is all caused by bad race craft of course but also by the weak draft. PD pls stop using it. Ended up only trying this race twice, the first one is this one below. Went for the race without warming up, never again.

I did 2 manus, one on a lower room to get my SR back to 99 and the second one on the top lobby of the slot (video below). Qualy was ok, race was fun. The Aston tyre wear with 15x multiplier was simply not competitive in yamagiwa.

No, it's on both versions of it and I've used it in FIA races before. No idea what happened.

I finally linked my YouTube to my PS4 and uploaded a couple replays. They aren’t from the current season, but from the previous one where I finished 3rd in the U.S. and 15th in the old Americas Region. Both of these races were in top-split lobbies and were crucial to my points total. In each of them I was able to overcome a bit of adversity for a great finish. Please check them out and give me any feedback you see fit, as it’s the first time I’ve ever shared replays of my racing. You’ll likely see some familiar names in them too.

Cheers and good luck to you all who are competing in the current season!
