I was in this, and you were definitely struggling a fair bit... a lot! from what I saw in the first few laps. Maybe see you at DT where we can both be nearer the front (and our cars will be more competitive!) - I do wish it was the 'right' way around the track though!

Honestly it'd getting pretty embarrassing. I'm not terrible at this game but whatever it is that needs to click with this car hasn't clicked yet. I've even taken to asking David Perel for advice on YouTube. My goal for the season is to have one not terrible Gr.3 race, and then change manufacturer as soon as possible!

Hope to see you at DT Seaside 👍

Clearly far from terrible looking at your DR!

I'm also looking forward to changing manufacturer. The Aston is solid on most tracks in the dry but around Tokyo in the damp it really needs a tow and in full wet conditions anywhere it's horrendous. I'm going all in for the Dragon Trail run this week where I should have solid pace - but I've only got one shot at it so fingers crossed I get a good one

I quite enjoyed both FIA combos. Nations had a bit of scare at T1 but otherwise was pretty much stuck in a lonely 4th place, even with an off.

Manu was fun from start to finish. I only wish I knew how to get off the last hairpin better because I kept losing so much time there.

Despite just barely losing 4th to you, I'm really happy with how that Manu race turned out! I was very fortunate that Applepop made a few mistakes that allowed me to get into the slipstream, I don't think I would've caught up to you and @RoadBeef otherwise. Pit strategy was pretty interesting- I think if I stayed out with RoadBeef we could've used each other's slipstream to catch back up to you after we pitted. But you were closer to me than RoadBeef at the time so pitting with you was the safer option.

Final lap, I scraped the inside wall in the penultimate turn which cost me heavily because I lost the draft from @Dodge Lamb going into the home stretch. When I realized you went wide at the hairpin to get a good exit, I tried braking the slipstream just a bit but you still got me at the end. Good racing to all! :gtpflag:

On a related note, it's pretty impressive to me that you're able to drive that GT-R so well. I remember trying it out recently practicing for a daily race and I found that the wheel spin on acceleration was intolerable. Must be because of all that power it has. I haven't even bothered to try it in wet conditions.

It’s not often I sniff a top 10 in the top split lobby, but I was close at Nations last night until it was ruined by this guy, everybody’s favorite. I couldn’t pull myself together after he smashed me into the barrier, and just fell apart.

Unfortunately the replay file got corrupted somehow and I couldn’t fast-forward or rewind without crashing the game so here’s the first half of the race, mostly from his perspective. As you can see and as many already know, he’s very fast, very sloppy, and drives with what appears to be desperate rage. Let me know what you think.

Here’s a summary of the action:

Lap 1: he gets pushed wide at T1 by someone who probably has no respect for him. He re-enters the track and hits me for the first time. He then cuts across CardierWes into the braking zone of the hairpin and dives on me using my car as brakes, he keeps the position anyway.

Laps 2-5: I manage to keep a reasonable gap to him while attempting to fend off his teammate thanks to dirty air.

End of lap 5: he punts Cooper at Casio earning him 5 seconds, then barges past him and slams into the wall on pit entrance.

Lap 6: he serves his penalty, me, @Jeeves_ACBC and his teammate pass him. Jeeves pits, leaving me in P5 with Destroyer right behind drafting.

Lap 7: in hindsight I probably shouldn’t have given his teammate the inside into T1, but he was faster and I was leaning on my strategy.

End of lap 7: tried to defend from him through 130R but decided to let him have the inside through Casio so I didn’t end up punted like Cooper.

Lap 8: I was gonna bump draft him but he weaved all over the track until he smashed me into the wall giving me damage. Don’t know why I didn’t see that coming.

Thus concludes my gripe session. Things got better for me later. Finished P3 in the 2nd split lobby next slot, and I ended up with a P9 in the MFG top split by staying off the walls and penalty free in the wet to finish the night.

All i'll say about my Manufacturers race is why do you always end up facing completely the wrong way every time you have a spin :banghead:. Second to last lap trying to turn the car around in a tight barriered road at turn 1 watching 7 cars fly by

Only did Nations once again. Qualified midpack with a relatively clean lap, wasn't going much quicker on my second run before I messed up. The race was quite something, went off at T1 which put me last, crashed head on :banghead: into the pit entrance wall after making a late call to pit, had a few battles along the way and finished where I started after all that. Was good fun though it felt like a missed opportunity.

@HellzFire was there but he either got disconnected or ran away when he saw it was only an 1800 point room, which is only 200 to 300 more than the second split rooms I have been racing in.

View attachment 857262

I left the room after seeing the score available. It wouldn't add anything for me and I wanted to watch the F1. If it was more than slot 2 then I'd have raced. I also didn't quit during loading because that would destroy the rooms scoring and wouldn't have lost Dr and the points from my earlier race. It was only fair for me to receive the damage.

I only tried slot 3 because my races were a disaster. Slot 1 I made a mistake on braking in turn 1 in P1 and got a 1.5s penalty. Then later in the race I got a BS 5s penalty.

Then in slot 2, well, see it for yourselves:

Nations I didn't race cause I'm not a big fan of the Super Formula racing.

Has anyone done any testing for the next Manufacturers race? I see you can select Hard, Mediums and Softs. Which ones do you have to use to avoid a penalty?

Hards are required.

I have a feeling that last CSA slot will always be bad for points. It's very late. Early morning, actually.

Going to try and do the Manu race on Wednesday, but after missing the last two rounds I will also be missing on Saturday. Temps are cooling down here in the desert and Saturday nights will be spent away from a TV. Good thing this doesn't really count for much. Definitely going to change manufactures for the next official season though.

I skiped Manu only did Nations and was a kind of boring race in terms of situations, qualy 2nd and finish 1st, i chased the lider during the entire race, we chosed diferent strategys and in the last stint i found odd that he managed to build some distance but i was on fresh tyres and was a bit pissed cause before he whent to pit he blocked me in the straight before the last chicane, anyway i managed to catch him and we cross the line with less than 1 sec apart, so i finish 2nd but he got a penalty of 20 sec cause he only used soft compound, not much to tell in terms of situations but speed and consistency in that formula it´s a must and was a fun combo, i was surprised that i could escape the carnage but i did all to escape it, Closed T1 and a fast exit and never looked back.

In the practice lobbies I've been in that GT86 is destroying it for manufacturers. I've seen a no stopper and a two stopper run away from the field. Think I'm settled on my own strategy in the Aston and will hope to push for a top six finish if the race is clean, maybe higher if I can take advantage of some people dicing with death!

Manufacturers
In the Aston Martin I did 5 laps in a lobby. Tires was worn but could perhaps get one or two more laps. That leaves some 12 laps for the hard. Perhaps Medium is better ?
After 5 laps I had 10 laps of fuel so perhaps no fuel fill ?

What's the fastest total race time you've seen with the GT86? Fastest I've seen is 32:24 with the Viper, though looking at it again, I think he might have used softs for all 3 stints, so maybe around 32:33 with one of the stints on hards instead.

You've been with quicker racers than me then! 32:24 is faster than the kind of time that was popping up winning on Kie's stream the other night. They were about 32:50 but these guys racing weren't anything particularly special (no offence to them if they read this!), just dipping into A+ in one case. The biggest thing though was how they maintained pace and the car seems to look after it's tyres. The guy who did a two stopper did his first stint on softs, pushing for 10-11 laps and barely lost pace.

Get a car that's quick enough to be top of the practice leaderboard, add in the fact it's good on tyres and fuel and you've got a pretty handy package. I expect they'll do pretty well on the whole

The 32:24 was on Cody's stream rather than a race I was in, but I've seen quite a few people in different cars able to do 32:40ish or quicker. I've done 32:46 in the NSX, but I can only do that sort of time if I get an empty track to drive on, so my strategy will be to try to qualify on pole and drive away from everyone. It may not go to plan.

In pratice for fia Manu i did S/S/H and seemed enough to maintain the pace to get a win in my rank, at least was enough to be faster and maintain equal pace compared to A/S drivers on the lobbys i was in, i´m with 650S and need to fuel saving a lot and i extend the first stint of softs for 1 lap/ 2 depending of how race evolves.

Also my strategy... but unlikely! So I have the back up of starting last and hoping 19 other cars meet their end in their first encounter with the chicane :D

More realistic is I qualify midfield and start on hard tyres then hope to make up places when others have to do their stint on the hards

Nations
First attempt was in a high rated (for me) lobby. Qualified 12th I think, kept it together for the first lap chaos and managed to get up to 7th ish. Was doing well but bottled it in the degners and in the last chicane to end up 14th. Knew I could do better.

Second attempt was in a slightly weaker lobby and qualified 3rd. Funnily pole and 2nd recorded identical times.

I got pole in this race and I had never seen pole and 2nd share identical times, was a good race with some good, clean driving. Good going bud unlucky with that spin.

Think I pitted 4 times. Pitted lap 1, topped up fiuel, switched from RS to RH and ran in 20th for a good while. Pitted a few more times grabbing Softs each time. Caught all those cars on the last 2 laps. Good fuel economy with no short shifting. Had about 1.5 laps left.

Did the Manu tonight. Qualified 5th in the Porsche, started on hards and fell back to 11th after a couple of mistakes. Changed onto mediums after 10 laps and capitalised on the two-stoppers, finishing 2nd. Very pleased. Love this longer race format. Make the rolling starts a little closer and it'll be perfect.

When will we see 24 cars on the Sport MOde grid?
They need to fix the rolling starts to what they have on the world tour events first with people close and not starting a second apart with people starting mid corner.

huh? curious why you'd pit after 1 lap on softs. Sounds like you cost yourself several positions there.

Is anyone doing/has done Manufacturers in an FF car tonight?

Tested a bit and I'm thinking of skipping this one. If anyone has evidence that the race is doable and I'm just lacking tire saving talent, I'll be glad to hear about it and try to work on it! :)
