Here is a race edit from last night Manufacturers race.
I had a great qualifying and started second on the grid. I got out among the first and then
the Lambo on pole overshot the first turn and I went on the inside and was getting the number 2 car, an Audi TT, on my right side, so we were heading for the second turn basically three wide.
You have to see the rest.
Shout out to my coach for this race @Racer294 !!

You did the hard part. Well done my friend!

Was excited about the next Nations race.......until I tried to practice for it tonight. It's definitely one of those "separating the men from the boys" situations because that car is a handful. So much so that because I am mainly focusing on the Manufactures series, I'm going to bow out and give my grid spot to some other madman who enjoys that sort of thing. :p

So, how is the madhouse for everyone now that it's the wild wild west?

So Saturdays Nations went downhill quite quickly.. race 1 in the Lambo didnt go well as i couldnt eek the time out of the tyres without destroying them... So i changed it up for the next race to the merc AMG. All in i done 4 races, ive never been so abused in online racing in a long time. I was punted at least twice per race and no one received a penalty. I basically lost nearly 3k of DR that night. Frustrating isnt the word... but im going again tonight so will see what happens. At least tonight we are all confined to the same car

Yes, I was very put off after two goes at Manu on Sunday also. Actually, every FIA I've done this season has been very rough. I'm debating if I'll do anymore. DR has been pounded.

Should be an easy 0 stop in the nations today. Also people who chose mitsubishi for there manufacturer must be laughing themselves silly. 8 of the top 10 times in EMEA are Mitsubishis.

Other than being bumped from behind in the last corner of my qualifying lap, and not being given room to get back on the circuit after putting two wheels off, not terrible.

Nations on Saturday for me was fine. Sunday I did two races, got caught in two other guys' fight and punted off in the first one, no problems in the second.

When this combo was a daily race the Mitsubishi was the fastest too, and that was some time ago. It's ironic that such a useless, slow car is the best option on a track that's almost all flat out.

I’ve only done 3 races (+1 on my EMEA account) since the contact penalties were removed and coincidentally my clean race streak is at 3. The EMEA race also got the bonus. The most important factor here is that none of those races were with Gr.3. Those races have been the worst going back to GT6 no matter what the penalties are, those cars are a superhero cape for a lot of people and they can accomplish anything on track if they’re aggressive enough.

Really excited for these next 2 races, both pretty much dream combos for me. Low grip road cars and an oval.

The last races with the old penalty system at Tokyo were a nightmare from start to finish. The races I've had with the new 'penalty' system have all been fine with a chance of dumb.

tbf any Tokyo layout with no penalties would be about the worst thing possible. A track that's always only 2/3 lanes wide, with lots of slip streaming and big braking zones? Nah.

I feel the same way about the oval. Really looking forward to a good result at BMB to counteract the disaster that was my performance at St. Croix...just beware of people with no oval racing skills forcing you into the outside wall in Turns 1 and 3...

Also, I doubt they would consider ever doing this, but I'd love to see a prototype-only, open wheel/redbull car-only, and oval-only championships. Gr.3 and Gr. 4 cars just don't seem to flatter my driving style (unless they're on ovals) like those other categories do. I seem to be better at making the most of high grip rather than trying to wrestle a grippy-but-somehow-still-slidy GT car. It's not that I need to win every race I compete in, but winning one every once in a while would be nice...

The problem with Tokyo is mostly the wall penalties. You can be punted into the wall head on, lose 5 seconds and then be given a 5 second penalty. Contact = penalty.

Tokyo was terrible notwithstanding penalties. People were weaving, blocking, divebombing, closing doors, sticking their noses in the wrong place - the attitudes were terrible. As were the after-race messages. Fuji too, come to think of it. And Spa. And Gardens. Don't remember Suzuka.

By comparison, St. Croix was highly respectful - I got hit pretty hard once by a brainfade and got an apology for it. Sardegna C was... less great, particularly in qualifying, but I had a terrific time because the dumbness affected everyone else.

Meanwhile I've just come from Maggiore East and that was a brilliant race. Good combo, and the front three were largely well mannered and clean. Obviously because I was one of them :D The guy running second but eventually made a track limits error to gift it to me apologised for holding me up because I had "much speed" (we were racing; I have to earn the position, it's not mine because I'm faster), and that's never happened before.

Some of the players further back didn't seem as enthused, but it seemed a battle rather than just outright nobbishness. No slagging each other off afterwards at any rate.

It's weird. No penalties, less nobbery on track and in chat...

Any tips on brake balance for this wiley old RX7?
I used one click to the back and no TCS. Nicely slidey, not too wayward, counters the late-race understeer. Oh and 3rd gear up the hill seemed to gain me a few tenths each lap. Peak torque and power are lower than you might think.

You'll have way too much fuel for the race, so rev it at the start to shuck a couple of percent.

I think I've only ever had more than one go at a race once, I don't like the idea of having more than one go but while it's there and the times suit...

First attempt. Qualify 7th with a 1:33.9 after making a mistake on the final corner. Long story short. Three people ahead of me have their own accidents at different times of the race, every one of them spears across the track and takes me out as I'm going past - finish 16th

So I fancied a second go!

Qualified poorly with a 1:34.2 after being too close to a Pole (hoping he'd be a bit quicker and I could get a little tow), 10th. Got pushed past early on but I just wanted to settle into the race, going into the final hairpin on L1 and the Pole I followed in qualifying makes a stupid divebomb into the corner, braking at around the 70m mark and goes from 15th to 10th! I didn't come out of it too badly, much better than some and as we settled again I was 12th behind a Brit. I followed him nose to tail for 11 laps with a group of four or five cars a couple of seconds ahead, I knew I had more pace but it's very hard to pass in these cars. We overtook a couple of drivers and then from the end of L12 we had our little battle. Some elbows out, nothing dirty (though watching it back his defending into the hairpin on L13 was a little suspect!). Got it done, finished 8th in the end 179 points and that's me for this round (still no CRB bonus in these demolition derby races though!)

Not looking forward to Brands!!

The last couple of laps...

So today's nations cup race... I didn't practice much and was way slower than Top 10 times. But hey, why not try anyway. Btw., I did not watch any top 10 replays or researched in any way.
Qualified in P19 with a 35.4 - time was okay compared to practice but still...
In the race I was able to gain some places in the first laps, but afterwards I got soaked. I was usually overtaken in the acceleration zone, which made me wonder. Looking at the replay I knew why. I had no idea that it was actually faster to do the weird gears (accellerating in 3rd etc.).
So I tried that out for a few minutes and in practice my time went down to a 33.4 - hell that would make a big difference!
Qualified in P4 with a 33.9
Got up to P2 and was closing in to P1 who seemed to be the slowest of the group, but unfortunately P3 turned me around at turn 2. Fell down to P10, got up to P8 again but my rears were in pretty bad shape, had some bad corners and fell to P10 again. Damn. Unfortunately that was the last possibility today...

Did the early North American Nations race. It was an AS lobby, and I don't think I've ever been in a dirtier, sloppier, more aggressive race in any game, in any lobby at any time.

Just disgusting, and a farce.

Had a great win in nations today! Qualified in P3 with a 35.1 (could have been faster but got held up by traffic on the back straight).
P1 and 2 took each other out on T1 and it was smooth sailing from there. In open air it was surprisingly easy to look after the tires and I
coasted to the checkered flag doing low 35s all race. Pretty proud of myself for staying mistake free considering I usually bottle it in cars that are way easier to drive!

I kept it in -1 all race and had no issues

Without having seen your race, I'm going to lean towards blaming it on the car choice. I bought it last night, took it for a few practice laps and pretty quickly said, "Yeah, I'm skipping Nations tomorrow."
