Against all expectations I went from 12th to 6th at Blue Moon, would have come 9th but several slowed down before the finish line, don't know why but I'll take their places :cheers:
They must have been fuelish :D

I got hit three times in practice - not even qualifying - by the same guy who divebombed everyone at every corner in the race, hit me three or four more times and caused an accident on lap 14 (so just out of the pits) which dropped me from 6th to 14th. After the race he told off everyone else for childish hitting and then sent me messages saying he didn't divebomb or drive dirty and I must have the wrong person after I called him a helmet in post-race chat.

I'll make a video later if I can be bothered.

Hi, I'm learning how to turn left for the first time

Attempt 1 at Manufacturers tonight. Qualified ok (5th), was saving plenty of fuel in the race but a couple of guys pushed their way past me and then a lap or so later they had an accident and managed to make sure to take me out. Ended up dead last and out of slipstream so that was the end of that race.

Attempt 2 went better. Qualified in 1st and spent the 1st 5 laps in mix 3 just trundling around getting bump drafted by the guy behind me who was obviously saving fuel. Finally a couple of guys went for it, and I tucked in behind them and tried to keep on fuel saving. Nothing much really happened until the pitstops started happening.

I overtook the guy in 1st and then bolted for the pits, and completely forgot what to do. I changed my tyres like a dolt, and then I think I put too much fuel in, so by the time I left the pits I was back in 14th. Thus the fightback began.

Thankfully with plenty of fuel and new tyres I was able to work my way through the field, and coming onto the last lap I was in 3rd and in their slipstream. I was able to jump them both into the 1st corner, did and little bit of gentle weaving on the straight, and covered the inside of the last corner to hold on for the win :)

Note that I sped up the start of the race in the video below, so if you just want to skip to the fun overtaking stuff then go to 3:04, but you might get a chuckle out of the sped up car sounds.

ps. Maybe my special Dale Earnhardt inspired livery helped :)

Big hand to @Pigems for the strategy. First go round was a disaster, second one was more of the same but the leading group fought too much so I was 3-4 seconds behind when everyone else had pitted, came out with a 458 half a second behind me and nobody else anywhere near me. Might have another go at this tbh, none of the clowns at this level seem to have a clue how to race on an oval.

Congrats man!! Well done! I’m very happy to hear that the strategy worked out for you. :)

After one disconnect followed by a 15th place in a second try after being smashed off I wasn’t going to risk it again but glad I did!

Feel exhausted after that! Majority of the race people played nice. Got a little heated half way through with some people starting to get their elbows out. Car lost half it’s paint from being squeezed against the wall plenty of times! Lost out in the win by a bumpers length!

Question is it a new thing that if you go through a ghost car you get car damage?

I went through a car that was ghosting & didn't in ghost after I was a about two car length away. My car got engine & front wheel damage nothing at the back.
1st time that happened to me.
Blue moon was full off ramming I was even push all the way to the pit lane wall by some English driver.. lol
But after a few laps I saw that person got what it deserved the car was rammed into a wall.
I had 1 good race started about P16 ended with P6 fuel saved so I could jump cars in the pit & it worked.

Still surprised at people ramming each other on a Oval track DR C, lol i wonder if the rammers will follow me all the way to A:confused::lol::lol:

Edit
Just checked my DR after the last race & my DR is down to D again:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:🤬🤬🤬🤬

Wtf? I actually got a freaking penalty, 2 seconds for accidentally nudging a guy in to the wall. he didn’t lose much time, I did. I got slammed in the same place on the 2nd lap and no one got a penalty? Finished 18th, what a waste of time. They really need to sort this out it’s the worst it’s been. It was still fun, kinda.
I’m wondering has this meant that everyone now has an S for Sportsmanship?

DR A+ and S lobby, 1st half fairly clean, 2nd half what a joke - I qualified in 14th, 4 or so laps from the end was up to 6th, then the bashing began. In the space of 1 lap I was back down to 13th, ran out of fuel on the last bend and finished 14th.

I'm really not enjoying the series - the penalty system needs fixing because right now there is bugger all punishment for contact. Sick of trying to race fairly just for somebody else to not give a monkey's about a little bashing and drop you multiple places with no recourse. I am not the fastest out there and I'm not mad enough to think I can get anywhere near the podium at the upper end unless it's a strong car and track combo - im cool with that and generally happy finishing somewhere in the pack, what im not cool with is losing loads of points due to aggressive drivers who are reasonably paced but cant leave space in a race.

I remember way back when the penalty system was perhaps overly harsh but it worked!

BMB was actually quite fun, moar powaaa, less penalties, can bump draft, it was great, wish I did more than just the last slot.
Stuffed up qualy as usual, started at the back, forgot to not take tyres in the pitstop which probably cost me a few places, ended up 11th.
Dunno if it's the Renault or my failure to slipstream, probably both

BLUE MOON - I can drive the whole race with consistent times with no tire change, but have to pit for fuel obviously. Does it make sense not to change tires when i anyway stop for fuel ???

You don't need to change your tyres. Be careful you don't press X too quickly when you're in.

Yes, not changing tires saves you a ton of time

Qualifying for Manufacturers was much messier than the actual race. Was less than half a second from pole but still only good enough for 17th.

The white "Race" screen hangs for a worrying amount of time and we lose 3 people before the grid walk, including the pole sitter. The race starts and fortunately I have @SmokeyMR2 right in front of me. We've raced together several times and he really helped me out with making sure I always had a slipstream (thank you), and we worked together as best we could. For most of the first stint I'm basically at the back of the pack, fuel saving the crap out of my car. My only concern was the group breaking into smaller groups but fortunately that doesn't happen. A few people pit on lap 12, with more on laps 14 and 15. Only 3 of us push through to the end of lap 16. When I come out the lead group has filtered down to 12. Sadly SmokeyMR2 isn't in the group as I understand he had a miss-communication with his pit crew about changing the tyres. He said no. They said yes.

I know I can run flat out to the end so just push on, picking up the odd position. The below is the last 4 laps. For a moment I allowed myself to believe I'd go on to take the win but it wasn't to be. Frustratingly watching it back on the second to last corner the inside lane was free but I didn't notice at the time so went to the outside. Still, couldn't be happier with 17th to 3rd, but those last laps were some of the most stressful I've done in the game. I was so flustered I forgot to save the replay, but SmokeyMR2 helped me out (again).

I thought it was going to be my best race ever but it was snatched away in the end.

Terrible qualifying, I was too fast through the corners to successfully tandem draft with anyone I was around so I qualified a mediocre 14th. At the start for some reason a big gap of around 5 seconds opened up between 10th and 11th so I was worried that was it, the second pack was stuck finishing in the back half of the order. I ran around in 13th with map 2/3 for the first stint as everyone else was. Pitted when the cars in front of me pitted, think it was lap 13. I put in 12 laps of fuel thinking that would be plenty since there was only 10 laps left. Didn’t change tires. And then it got interesting.

Came out, and noticed I was around a bunch of different names. Went flat out and slowly passed all of them. My position kept going down and then I was suddenly in 3rd. Then made it three wide and took the lead in turn 3 with 4 laps to go I think. Somehow I had erased the 7 second gap I had to the leader when I pitted.

But then I looked down and I had 2.9 laps of fuel remaining. So much for that. Switched to map 3/4 and slowly got shuffled out but didn’t lose touch since everyone got really aggressive as they should. Had 0.6 laps left when I got the white flag so switched the map 6, dropped to 11th and drove around with no one to draft since the pack left me behind. Almost made it but ran out exiting turn 3 coming to the checkered. Luckily two or three other people ran out earlier so I coasted by them and got 9th for 150-something points. That’s just good enough that I’m not going to risk running again since I know I’ll end up in the wall.

But it was so close to greatness. I was inwardly jumping up and down and then my heart just sank as soon as I looked at the fuel gauge. That’s why I hate running maps other than 1, the calculation when you pit is way off because it bases it on how you’ve been running to that point, which is wildly inaccurate when you’re going to switch to map 1.

Oh, and I got another clean race bonus despite hitting another car at least once every lap

I was in 4th and ran out of fuel coming around the last turn. Finished 7th. You’re right about the calculation being inaccurate.

I was in that race too, how did that big gap open up so soon? I had a crap Q and couldn’t catch a draft so I started 16th and didn’t get to see what happened.

I didn’t see what happened either, it just happened immediately pretty much before turn 1. I think it was a glitch in the pace speed or something

First attempt didn’t go well, couldn’t find a draft in Q and then forgot to switch back to FM1 for the 2nd stint.

2nd attempt saw the guy ahead mess up and then stay right on the racing line with no speed, I thought he was ghosted but he unghosted right at the last second and I smashed him. Q was screwed again, started 12th. Was kind of a boring race overall, stayed with the group but only made up a couple spots to finish 8th. Could have been 6th if could have got around that guy at the end but I didn’t react quick enough. Oh well, better luck Sunday hopefully. :)

I knew tonight would be my best night to try to actually win a race this season in either Nations or Manufacturers, so I was excited about it since I first saw the schedule. I entered the 3rd time slot, and I actually managed to put the 'Vette on pole, and my strategy of fuel saving, being the last to pit, and running the car dry before stopping actually paid off. By the end of the race there were only 6 of us going for the win and I led to start the final lap. My plan was to either defend going into the final turn, or let 2nd place by and slingshot around him out of the final turn, depending on what the gap was heading into turn 2. Unfortunately I guess I underestimated how well the 4C handles, because he sent it into turn 3 and managed to slide up in front of me while almost losing no speed. I had no room to try to pass him and wound up giving him a slight bump-draft which of course gave him the win with me in P2. This ties my best result of the year (also got 2nd at DT Gardens), and gives me the most points I've gotten this season and since the points system changed at 179 points.

I really shouldn't go again, and normally wouldn't even be contemplating it, but I REALLY want a win at this track (to add to the 70 I already have at BMB). I guess I'll be mature and not risk this result... If I could've done all 5 slots, I might have gone again.

I had to work late today so I couldn't get in until the 4th race. I tried to fuel save while staying with the front group but used up way more fuel than I did in practice. I thought I put in plenty fuel in my pit stop but ended up running out right as I started T3. I went from an easy 6th to 8th. :banghead:

I ended up finishing 11th. I made the mistake of trying to fuel save too early and lost the main pack. On maybe the 4th lap, people were being impatient behind me and messed up trying to go 3 wide through turn 1. I was a side casualty, and took aero and engine damage as a result. Ended up p16 of 18, and slowly climbed way back up as people messed up. After my pit stop, I made a couple of good passes, and then at least one person had to stop to get fuel on the last lap.

Even with the chaos, it was pretty fun. I didn’t have time to run it again, but maybe a combo like this will show up in the dailies at some point.
