Did the 1st and 3rd slots for the Nations tonight. First race, I was still placed in a mixed A/A+ DR room and of course got destroyed. I used the Meta for this race, and still could only qualify 17th. I quit after only making up one spot and then spinning on lap 4 because my (MEDIUM) rear tires were already gone. Did some Daily Race A and B after not qualifying for either and just focused on having fun while trying to make up as many spots as possible. This successfully dropped my DR down enough to place me with only other A-ranked drivers for the 3rd time slot(though still near the top of A-rank). I used the WRX for this after a little testing to see which FR car worked best and actually beating the best lap time that I set in the Meta Renault. In the race I qualified 11th after getting caught out by some guys leaving the pits (they tried to stay out of the way, but only so much you can do there). I was actually on a slightly quicker lap on my 2nd flying lap in spite of my slightly worn tires, but went off towards the end of the lap. I started on the Mediums again, picked up a few spots in the opening laps due to others' mistakes, and ran a 7M-3H-6S strategy. It paid off as I was able to avoid traffic until the final stint, and I finished 6th with 166 points, which is better than any of my Nations Cup points scores last season. Seems mid-upper A-rank is where I'm supposed to be. Any higher and I have to race with aliens, and any lower and I'm regularly getting podiums (even on tracks I don't like) but for lower points payouts.

The strategy couldn’t have worked better. 5th to 2nd in the first slot, 2nd split lobby for 235pts. Decided to use the Atenza at the last minute because it’s better on fuel than the Beetle and almost as good on tires. Used softs first, made some important moves early then stretched them for 8 laps while saving fuel. Picked hards next with no refuel and that was vital because it gave me clean air in a light car for one lap. Switched to mediums till the end and got lucky with some clean air again all the way till the last lap when the leader had to pit for hard tires and I barely got him for P2. Exciting beginning and end to a great race.

I look forward to the day when I can stretch my RS 8 laps...

Toyota 86 on Fuji:

1) no stopper = 24:02
2) 1 stop 7 laps medium & 7 laps soft = 24:02
3) 1 stop 6 laps soft & 8 laps medium = 24:03
4) 2 stops 6 laps soft & 7 laps soft & 1 lap medium = 24:02

first slot emea live on my YouTube channel (no practice)

Good race! Was right behind your for a few laps until I had to pit for Hards on lap 14. Had a bad Q lap started 14. Race was very good. Started on Mediums for 8 laps, then 6 laos soft and last 2 hard. Wanted to do one more soft lap but didn't have enough fuel as I tried to stagger fuel input. Finished P6, always good to get decent race on 1st try.

funniest thing ive seen yet in this game. A driver desync'd from the back of the gird at race start in the first slot top-split. He just PLOWED through the entire grid while we were all in auto drive.

timestamp to replay:

fix the game PD.

Four cars quit(two after entering the room, a player that got a penalty and the culprit that punted me). I pit lap 7, caught up to and finished 1 second behind a GT-R.

After what Kaz posted on his Twitter about future content, I'm starting my game over one last time to switch manufacturers.

Why?

You're not supposed to switch manufacturers whenever it is convenient for you, otherwise everyone would do it.

The most pee’d off I’ve ever been with this game tonight. Finished dead last due to pathetic penalties.

Started 8th. Someone in a Lambo decided they weren’t going to brake at all for the first corner and came smashing through the pack. Guess who the only driver to get a penalty was?? Served that on the straight so fell right back. Very next lap got tapped from behind and got hit with another 2 second penalty. Couple of laps later divebomber at turn one hits me and another car..I get 4 second penalty!! I picked up at least another 2 penalties for being tapped from behind. Absolute joke. SR S 99 to A in one race.

edit: attempted next race. Put in a lobby with a big bunch of D and E drivers and then got disconnected. Might as well give up already on this preseason :banghead:

Man I was lucky to see him barelling down in my rear view mirror and delayed my turn in. Feels so bad for you getting taken out like that dude. I gather he didn't send an apology message afterwards either?

Actually, it's lucky I messed up T1 in quali otherwise I reckon I would've started in your position and be the one to get taken out. Couple of nice battles in the race but the Citroen lacks the overspeed needed to pull out of slipstream and overtake. It's strong in the last sector but you really can't overtake there unless someone makes a major mistake and the tyre deg of cars around me aren't that much worse. Went long in first stint so I can push on the softs (5 laps). Overtook a Mustang and outdragged a Huracan to the line since his fronts are finished. A Cayman on similar strat as me finished ahead since he could overtake those 2 much earlier with the speed advantage. Tough race. Anyway onwards to the next one :)

That player has been a bit wild(unpredictable) in the past. Lately, I haven't had any problems with that player.

Too bad I couldn't see how I would have done against the cars around me. I wasn't going near those Softs.
Cool that RC F(was that Matt Simmons?) did win. I was surprised by that.

Nah it was MonkeyMatt. Matt Simmons races under MINT_GTR. Actually I was quite surprised how many DR A+ drivers were in second split. Top split must be absolutely loaded lol. Contrast that to the Nations race yesterday where my measly 46k DR is enough to make top split. No contest which championship is more popular here

PD really need to sort this pathetic excuse for a penalty system out last night was a complete joke highlighting how flawed the system is.

I put my 911 in 3rd with a 1.22.451 reasonably happy thou I’d done faster in practice lobby’s started on the hard tyre to get them out the way did two laps still in 3rd and just as I enter the pits some Spainish Muppet decides to dive in and hit me so hard it spin in the pit lane causing me to get reset back not at the pit entry but on the track , by this time I’m last so carried on got to the finish line and what do I receive 10 second penalty for apparently ignoring track limits .

I don’t know who tests these penalty system before they realease it in a update but my personal opinion is they should be given a swift kick in the balls for everyone who suffers at the hands of this joke system and to add insult to injury I lost my A+ status because of it all ....

Got disco'd from the 21:00 race. Was able to do the 22:20. Felt like an average room. Atenza was good on the RS for 3 laps during qualy. I still wasn't going to use them in the race.
Well, RS used by other players, didnt make that much of a difference. I started 11th on RM. Finished 12th on RM.

The tyres were fine both stints. I'm so used to heavy fuel use, it wasn't an issue. I could have pushed more through the whole race. Instead, me taking it easy at the start, allowed the Scirocco and 86(both on RS) to get by.

On to Gr.3.

A lot of that is the car, but some credit to my conservative driving. You’ll see me coast a lot through corners when I’m saving tires, braking early, partial braking etc. Also avoiding aggressive down shifting helps. If you are trying to brake as late as possible every corner it will be faster initially but kills the tires in the long run, especially if you go too deep once or twice and cause a slide. I don’t think I outbraked myself once in that race and that was key.

Great race man! You had an awesome run coming up from 14th. You really had me sweating there for several laps, I had no idea you still had to pit and I was wondering how I was gonna hold you off till the finish. I was so relieved when I saw you turn into pit lane. Nice racing with you!

So what strats are yoy guys going with for todat's manu?

one-stop, save enough fuel so you don't have to take any in the pits. Figure out how long you can make the softs last...most likely 6-8 laps, and use the mediums for the rest. I've been starting on mediums and trying to stay in the slipstream and take it easy saving fuel, then pushing harder on the 2nd stint on softs.

Has anyone been having problems with the terms and conditions for the FIA races? I've had to accept them several times since this pre-season started. The message always pops up at the same place, and I don't know why.

Fuel saving is a bitch on the Mustang hahah.

Gonna run a little practice and see whatsup. Thanks!

Some of the worst driving I've ever seen at Fuji. 2-stopped the GT-R (tyres, not fuel) to 8th, could reasonably have been 5th if not for 3 penalties, the best of which was a Porsche acting like I didn't exist at the left hander in the twisty bit at the end of the lap. I hate this track so much.

Haven't done a sport mode race for a while, but had a go at today's manufacturer race. Epic fail in qualifying with a 0.5 sec penalty on my flying lap, which meant it didn't count at all, so I started 20th. Got up to 10th by the end, but encountered a ridiculous amount of dirty driving. The penalty system is totally and utterly broken. People just ram you in T1 and get no penalty, and other times you get a penalty when racing clean but someone else drives into you. It was more like a C/A lobby than an upper A/S lobby. It's impossible to have a good race when the car behind can just ram you out of the way without penalty.
