The Only Gr.2 in my FIA is the GT-R 16', time triall isn't bad(2.05.6xx) but it just doesn't work in race.
Tried 3 attempts, the best being 10th with 124 points.

The 08 cars are way OP here, they seems better for grid start and with insane straight line speed it's not overtakable even with slipstream.:(
I ran four different cars in the practice. The 08 GTR is very op. It will be a one make I think.

Tried at least one practice lobby with the '16 GT-R (my usual Gr.2 steed), and while it is more economical I can't help but find the '08 car to be much faster and better handling in general. Plus, even with TCS 1 the '16 car is horrible off the line. :(

Went on a free run to test a no stopper, and while the time is ok, it would be reasonably competitive in a race situation, starting on hard tyres is going to be a world of pain. Because I wanted quite an 'authentic' run, I pulled out the pits, fm6, and tootled around to the grid in mostly 6th gear, trying to use as little fuel as possible. While this saves the fuel, it cools the tyres. So I got ready for my 'grid' start, got away well then no brakes or turning for La Source, got it on track, head down the hill towards Eau Rouge and... off, just had zero grip. Could take this into account heading into Les Combes and slow it down enough to stay on the black stuff, but in a race? You're gonna get heroes throwing it up the inside not knowing or caring how much you're struggling for grip.

Fair play to anyone who starts on hards, it makes sense because H-M is the quickest way around, - but I won't be one of them!!
How much fuel saving did you have to do for a no-stopper?

Main thing I took from this is, qualy alone.

Gr2 and Spa it's really hard to get the right tow, you basically need to be between 1s and 1.4s behind at the start. Too close at the end of the first sector and you'll lose everything you gained up the straight in the dirty air over the second sector, definitely worth finding your own piece of track (and ideally catch someone just out of Stavelot!)

How much fuel saving did you have to do for a no-stopper?

I'd been doing fuel saving runs all the time so it wasn't too bad relatively. Fm2 through sector 2 and short shifting the higher gears can get you round. It's nowhere near the quickest, just if you're on hards and things have gone slightly awry in the first couple of laps you can stay out.

For me doing a no stopper is probably around 8-10s slower than doing a M-H with a splash of fuel, the extra time you gain from being able to push is huge, plus those hards at the start - I don't trust them!!

Should add, fuel saving and a tyre change is about 4-5s slower than throwing some in and pushing so it seems completely pointless to do

But

All depends how your race is going, we need to beat the cars around us, not the clock and it's better to have a slow car at the front than a quick car in the midfield

Yeah I'm pretty sure I'd be much worse on old hards and fuel saving even if I avoided a pit stop, but oh well

I'm pretty hopeful for this race, which I'm sure will prove mis-placed. Planning 5/5, H/M.

Good luck mate 👍

My little qualy sim went very well just, was even .25 up when some numpty decided to start a qualifying session (10 mins before a race, I ask ya!!), I nailed the last hairpin too but what the time would have been will never be known! Now sat watching a virtual TAG watch, waiting to match...

Edit:

Going again, absolutely livid. Greek driver serves a pen in qualifying then CONTINUES his run and blocks me for the rest of the lap so I qualify 16th, I get a good start in the race, he runs me off to the outside, into the wall and last. Then I get a Spaniard in 8th on the last lap who has already 'defended' once by going too deep, hugs the inside up to Les Combes, and again he goes too deep and pushes me off

Like I say, livid.

Hard tyres not too bad to start on though!

Also to add to my fury! The race was won in a time slower than I've done in my last two lobbies

Messed up my qualifying lap so started on the back row. Decided to start on the hard tyres and go for a 4H/6M strategy. Worked out pretty well finishing 10th, but in a pack fighting for 6th. Almost ran out of gas on the line.

Really fun race though and pretty clean from what I saw. Will go again :)

Not at all optimistic for this one. My DR took such a hit in EMEA that it looks a pin head away from dropping from B to C tonight.:nervous: Probably end up in a mixed B and C lobby.

Only had time to try 3 laps on H tyres just now, and I'm almost 9 seconds of the pace. not sure I'll have time to try Ms for a truer reflection before Slot 2. Maybe not best to try qualifying too high, and just see if I can mop up places after a likely messy Turn 1 ...

Entered the 17:00 Nations in the '08 GT-R, setting myself a new personal best FP time of 2:04.572 seconds before matchmaking. Only one non-'08 car in my lobby (a German in a '16 GT-R). Qualified 6th after deciding to put on new Mediums on my out-lap (time was a 2:06.099).

Got a good getaway off the line (TCS 1 + FM 5), but was held up by a Spaniard who turned to cut across the middle of the straight while lighting his rears up. Dropped a few places and got punted wide by a fellow Brit who started on Hards and completely misjudged his braking into La Source (he apologised for this in lobby chat afterwards). Escaped without penalty, but quickly tumbled down the order as all sorts of shenanigans unfolded over the course of the first lap.

Quickly caught up with a group fighting for 8th; two of the cars served penalties on Kemmel Straight, allowing another '08 car (on Hards) to get involved and jump ahead of me and a Dutch driver (also on Hards). I struggled to pass the latter for some time, but eventually took 11th on Lap 3 after the Dutchman tried to pull off what I thought was a well-calculated cutback at Pouhon. The grey '08 car pulls off into the pits at the end of the same lap... and we are in 10th.

Pitting in for Hards on Lap 5 with 50-51% fuel allowed me to gain some ground back on the Italian in 8th. Aside from pressuring another Spaniard as he struggled - and fell - on badly-worn Mediums, there was not much else to say about the second stint. Leapfrogged a Frenchman - one of the duo serving penalties on Lap 2 - to go up into 9th, and nursed the Sumo Power GT-R home for 183 points. Crossed the line on Fuel Map 3 just to be on the safe side.

Felt like I found improved pace this afternoon compared to my practice runs, but for now I'll happily take my third top 10 finish of the season and save the stress of getting better results for another time. As I said to @Ashthebash before this race, I hoped that we didn't get any pool shots like what @05XR8 witnessed, but it seemed like the gods at Spa thought it was my turn to become the cue ball today.

So after all the pontificating...

"Don't start on hards"
"Don't fuel save"

I started on hards and didn't add (forgot to add:banghead:) fuel!:D

Was in this one with @SmokeyMR2

After the qualifying disaster in the first race I decided to just go out and bang two laps in, still had idiots, like a guy on his out lap pull into my racing line just before the braking zone for Les Combes, but I got round in an ok time on the second lap, only good enough for 9th though so start on hards it is.

Got off the line great (been practicing;)), up to 7th out of La Source, nicely in the tow and then as we hit the braking zone it starts to unfold. A South African launches it up the inside, I'm trying to recover from his dive whilst leaving room for the next guy (who pulled into my line in qualy), get pushed wide out of Malmedy and as well as going down to 9th get a penalty for track limits - I did exceed them, not really my doing though!

From then on I think I had a target above my car, certainly a Czech driver felt so, but then he could see a target above every car!

Short story is, I went down to 11th, kept at it and when I pitted at the end of L4 I was in a decent position until I quickly double clicked in the pits - medium tyres 👍 ... no fuel... NOOOOO . Head in hands, I'm in trouble now, and 14th on exit

Only I wasn't. I entered and exited the pits behind a Frenchman so happily accepted his tow, until he lost it out of Rivage. We were both making up places as people pitted and they weren't coming back, got good pace here and we were both on nice fresh mediums, a couple of laps later he was right behind me down Kemmel so I indicated left and moved the fuel map to 4... the sod stayed behind me! A lap or two later he does push for the overtake, I ease back so I can bask in his tow (thinking I'll have a go back a lap later ;)), he goes through and immediately loses it through Malmedy! That's gratitude for ya! After all the stops and fighting I was now promoted to 4th, and that was how it stayed.

Again the race won in a slower time than my last two lobby runs (21:22) which is frustrating, and had I remembered to add fuel I could have really pushed for at least a podium but all things considered, a decent result from a race I'd been looking forward to ever since I saw it listed

I'm going to spend the morning on share factory trying to learn how it works. Plenty to see from my evening's racing!:D

Just got win in manu beacause 1 and 2 kill each other on bus stop in last lap, and 3rd got 20s penalty so 111pts for me... That was 3rd attempt this evening, on first slot I ruined race myself, on 2nd rhere was disconection which cost me 2k of DR and dropped SR to B... But this make me smile:D later I upload replay how it looks beacause Im curious myself what they did

Ok, I watched replay, it was even more funny than I remembered... Two italians on 1 and 2 did italian stuff and spanish guy on 3rd run out of fuel and didnt change tyres... Heres video:

Fun evening so far,

1st Race Qualified way down in P16, Finished 8th after getting dominated by the '08 GT-R Vs My 16' GT-R That Just gets awful at Driving offline, Quick switch to the '08 GT-R & I'm immediately more comfortable.

2nd Race Qualified P2, Got pipped by 5/10's but too be fair to the Guy in Pole he did a great Job & Deserved that as the race panned out being evident of this.

Race was Solid, Nice clean Start, Left each other room & was Bumper to Bumper for the entire 5+ Laps, Started on Medium's & So did the Race Leader, But as soon as we switched to Hard's he Just had more pace than me in the corners especially at the top half of the circuit!

In the end he pitted end of Lap 5 & So did I, However he Pitted for Medium's which explained is rapid pace & In the end got a Time Penalty for not using both compounds! Last Lap of the Race I got careless forgot my fuel and had 0.3 Left before reaching the Long back straight I thought I was done for, But FM5/6 to the chicane & someone tried to run me wide without giving me room he spun himself & I raced to the Line by the guy in 3rd at the time & came 2nd by 0.013's! Insane.

Wondering If I should gamble another two races... As I still feel fresh but enjoying this one and I'm not usually a fan of Spa!

Also Incredibly pleased as I've finally graduated to Driver Rating A! :gtpflag:

Now for the long grind to A+!

Last slot. Started in p12, first flying lap I made a mistake in the final chicane and second one ruined in the same place by a fellow Italian who dived on the inside. The race was a bit of a disappointment, honestly, in a mixed lobby Dr a/b. Had a good run on the first lap all the way to p6 and I got p5 after pits. On the last lap I ve been slightly bumped at the end of kemmel by a guy who had fresh mediums, got into the gravel and lost another position. P7 for 102 points, my best result so far, but I honestly believed that a top 5 was in my hand. Still Dr a though.

For Spa nations cup today, is there a requirement to use both max and min tire? Still learning here and a 20sec penalty was added at end and doesn't clearly say in the race details.

If there is, that's brutally unclear.

First 2 rounds, qualified 14th and 19th (missed starting my timed lap like a dumb:censored: in the 2nd round :dunce::banghead:). Wound up quitting both of them towards the end since I wasn't gonna get enough points finishing at the back anyway.

This is probably gonna end up being yet another wasted Saturday in a meager attempt to have 1 race not ruined by my own stupidity. I should probably quit trying while I'm only a little behind, but unfortunately I'm crazy in addition to being a dumb:censored:...

Edit: I'm gonna have to do AT LEAST 2 MORE because my SR dropped down to A!:banghead:🤬

Maybe I'll see you. I got dropped to 70 SR. Last race was 4 As/8 Bs/2 Cs/6 Ds.

Ended up getting 63pts for P8 but can do better. Qual time sucked because half the lobby didnt know braking points.

Also shaved 1s in practice qual time by going to BB -1 (front). Wild.
