Christ I can't stand this Circuit layout. Everytime I have an overtake done on someone they throw their toys out the pram and run me off Into the grass. People just throwing everyone into the kitty litter tonight. Best I can get is 6th & was easily on for a Podium until I get punted by an impatient person. Happened twice now so I may leave the next couple races this eve & Focus on Nations Cup GR.1 for Tuesday. Anyone know If It's Wet Weather for that one?

I was very close to sitting this one out, but I've decided to give it a whirl. Let's see how the big ol' SLS fares; though truthfully, any shortfall here comes down to it not being an Adam track, more than it not being a Mercedes track...

You can watch-along as ever. :)

So I've dipped my toe into ShareFactory and have some highlights from yesterday's race (by highlights I mean most of the race!), including how my first attempt got shafted by one person.

There is some text commentary but you'll miss most of it because it's in the rear view mirror! Quite a lot goes on in the first few laps, but considering it seems to be going wrong and I don't actually make what I'd call a genuine overtake all race, it shows how situations can be recovered

... if only I'd put that 10% of fuel in!

Well, today went pear shaped to say the least. Disconnected from 1st slot right after quali because of a power outage (which forced me to miss slots 2 and 3). Slot 4 my game crashed in the loading screen, Slot 5 I disconnected on the loading screen. Oh well lol

Game is crashing when it loads free practice for the 17:20 manufacturers race. Restarted the box and cleared network data with no luck. Happens every time.

Anyone else seeing this crash? C-34878-0

This is the sort of stupidity I have to deal in one of the top rooms. I'm in the Aston Martin, worked my way up from 17th in qualifying to near the top half. Been chasing this Ferrari all race, give him plenty of room. He gets a penalty for some reason, I presume because he cut the last corner of the chicane a bit too much. He overruns the hairpin, I try to duck under but give him a bit of a tap, no real harm there and it was not an attempt to disrupt him, he just didn't overslide like I expect. Nobody got any penalty for it and it didn't affect either of our races, but he decides to pit maneuver me into a wall.

Then messages me threatening to "meet me in the street in real life" because I "got in the middle of him doing his own race." And this was a 250+ points room. Dumping me to last lost me 1500 DR points. Immature children.

One and done tonight! Lost some DR last night in Nations so I ended up in 3rd split(I think) tonight. I knew the Alfa was strong here, so I’d been practicing all day, but I was yet to make it thru a practice race today without dying at the chicane on at least one lap. Q started and I started to burn fuel, I was gonna take 2 hot laps but some guy got in my way in T1, so I had to abort and hope 1 that lap would do it. I started my only flying lap alright but made a few mistakes and expected to start way down the grid. I was shocked when I saw I was only .002 from getting pole when the dust settled.

The race started and I lost a spot early on thanks to the chicane once again, but I didn’t fully bin it this time at least and managed to stay in the slipstream of the leaders. As the race went on their tires got worse and eventually I was able to get around them. By the end I had broke the slipstream and was able to cruise the last couple laps safely to take the win. It was both a fun and stressful race, I’m glad I don’t have to do it again!

I was in that race!

That was dirty as hell, you did nothing to warrant that. I’ll be sure to be careful around him from now on. Thanks for the heads up, sorry that he ruined your race.

Just loaded up and had no issues. This morning was a different story. Had to “reconnect” my PS to the internet and no issues since.

I was looking forward to the manufacturers cup race at the Gardens. I did a lot of Practice on it last week in a gr.4 car.
The first race I qualified well, about 7th, and only dropped about 3-4 places in the race. Doesn't sound good but I would probably include it as one of my best races in terms of my consistency and my speed of recovery when I did get into trouble. I was mentally spent for the second race and just lost it :(
Speed of recovery is a big issue, particularly for amateur and beginner racers. **** happens and if you just throw a tantrum, etc it won't help. In some cases you can actually recover and pull a decent placing! All about keeping your head.
...... And on that note I think I will forget about the Nations cup races and just practice solid for the remaining gr.4 races in the Manufacturers cup. If I feel right I might try the gr.3 cars at Catalunia but only because I am familiar with the circuit.

Yesterday's Nations race was miserable, frustrating, and worst of all fruitless in spite of having high hopes going into it. Today's Manufacturer's race I almost skipped when I heard there wouldn't be any pit stops, since I suck at conserving tires, and the Corvette is one of the furthest things from a "handling-oriented" car.

Surprisingly I qualified 6th, with another 'Vette in 3rd (there were actually 4 of us in this race). The polesitting 4C spun after getting the exit of the last corner all wrong, and the Corvette that started 3rd just...drove off the track before the 4-apex corner on Lap 2. I then lost a spot to an 86, which put me in 5th, and after that I was engaged in a battle with the 86, a Slophy, and a TT for 2nd place as the leader in a Cayman ran away from all of us.

I picked off the TT first after we all got stacked up in the chicane, and the Slophy got a corner-cutting penalty at the same time, which it served the next lap, giving me 3rd. The 86 kept me at bay for several laps as it obviously pulled away through all the technical parts, but the slipstream and my higher top-speed kept it from getting away. On the penultimate lap, the 86 picked up a corner cutting penalty at the chicane, which it served on the last lap, giving me 2nd. At the same time, the Corvette that drove off the circuit earlier had a mega last lap and closed from over 1s behind me to finishing less than 0.1s behind me at the line, with both of us 15s behind the winning Cayman and 5s ahead of 4th. That gave me 188 points, my 2nd-best total this preseason and 1 point from tying my best points result (a 4th place at Monza for 189 points, where I also wasn't expecting to do that well).

Race 8 Dragon Trail Gardens
Getting back on the track after an abysmal showing in race 7...
TrainSpotter gave me a great slip stream on my second hot lap in qualifying so Im starting on pole !
This high speed track bodes well for the McLaren that is very strong on this track. The key is not to screw it up in the tricky chicane after turn 1.....
Well, you just have too see how it went ...
(Race edit with commentary)

I was disconnected during matchmaking for North America slot 3 this evening, while my friend in another lobby was also disconnected during slot 3, but made it to lap 5.

I've been playing GT Sport, but only yesterday, I tried my first FIA race ever. Must be feeling more adventurous OR bored from being stuck at home for almost a month under (partial) lockdown. Started at Dragon Trail Gardens in the Manufacturers race, signing with BMW. Spent more than an hour in practice and another hour reading up on the FIA rules and race format. Hit the second last race of the night, totally botched qualifying and started last, but finished 15th. My goodness...these races are fun!! Drivers are a lot more closely matched, and for some reason, it feels a lot cleaner (Asia server) than the Daily Races. Even scrapping at the back for 15th place was fun and intense.

Decided to give it another go in the last race for the night, and this time I screwed up qualifying slightly less to start 15th. Had close wheel-to-wheel battles and took 10th on the last corner of the last lap. Wow...what a rush! I think I'll be doing this more often.

So having been disconnected for slot 3, and not being able to connect for slot 4, I would advise anyone finding themselves in close proximity to me in slot 5 give me a wide berth as I battle my way to last place! (should I be able to participate)

Edit.. although the slot 4 issue appears to be PSN related as opposed to GT Sport related.

After some shenanigans at Spa last night, I took a trip down to DR B for tonight’s proceedings.

20:40:

Went out first for qually to just give myself some space. I ended up taking the last of the esses a little wide and had to brake to avoid the sand, so my second flying lap was a bit in the safe side. Qualified 8th. I spun immediately on the first lap at the chicane. Embarrassing, and ended P13 or 14 or something. Who cares at that point. I had more pace but it’s hard pass in most spots in the track.

22:00:

Burned some fuel on the out lap and looked for a slipstream partner. Thought I had one, but he let me by before the last turn so I had two flying laps on my own. Set a decent time in the first lap, so I went for it in the 2nd and was .017 off the pole.

P1 spun at the chicane, and a fellow Genesis and I gapped the field after. He kept it within a second for a couple laps, but then I ran 4 straight fastest laps. I ended up cruising and winning by 5 seconds.

My first FIA win, and I’m within a couple hundred DR of A again. Not a bad consolation prize for the drop to DR B, and it was my 3rd most points. 419 is my total for this leg so far...maybe I can snag some a higher score at Laguna.

I enjoy Dragons trail gardens a lot, the Ferrari also seems to go well here, although certainly not the meta, have some quiet confidence for tonight....lets just hope I don't shatter it in qualy...

Man I got totally robbed in the second race as I didn't defend hard enough, also turns out you can't do even the tiniest bump and run in the chicane as you'll get a 1 second penalty which I got twice.

Is it a requirement to use the Hard tires at least once for the manufacturers cup race at Laguna Seca? I have read all of the little rules and regulations and can't see it. :l

Required tires are always at the very bottom right in the "Race Details" menu on the FIA race entry screens.

Sorry, I am not really clear. It says tire requirement and lists all 3 types of tire. Does this mean that I must use all 3 compounds during the race?
If so, could you get away with using one type for qualifying and the other 2 for the race? Maybe a loophole :p

Yes you have to use all 3 tyre compounds during the race. No your qualifying loophole won't count towards tyre use.

It used to be possible to start the race with one compound on your front tyres and a different compound on the rear, which knocked off two of the compounds in one go but that's been patched out.
