I'm not in speaking terms with the Aston after Bathurst. Inexplicably had immense understeer from the start except out of nowhere exiting Forrest Elbow on one lap. Then it suddenly had no brakes and had offs just trying to limp to the pits. I don't think it mattered anyways because I wasn't going to salvage a decent finish given how it handled. :yuck:

Were you in the 8:10pm slot?

NVM, I think I remember seeing you on Snow's stream.
There was an Aston in the 8:10 slot who qualified 4th and finished 3rd behind me, I can't particularly comment as to what you were feeling with the car, but the Aston behind me was managing mid 04's in race. Understeer is weird, I typically get tons of oversteer on Bathurst, especially at Griffins Bend, The Cutting and Forrest Elbow.

More like low 04s here. Was near the back of a train of cars and the nose was not planting at all. I certainly got snap oversteer at Forrest Elbow, though. :ouch:

On the upside, I practiced Bathurst again mimicking race conditions and realized I should've used different brake settings. More importantly, learned that I had been doing one corner wrong all this time (again because I knew this in GT6). 2:03 flat out of nowhere although in the field I was in, I might've been 8th at best.

Yeah the 9pm slot was stacked.
Z28 was in my split at 8pm and he was p1 - I was p2 with a 2.04.1. That time would've been good for 9th or 10th in the 9pm race, just behind Boca Solid.

Thankfully I got lucky, P3 and P4 fought for the first 4 laps and all I had to do was drive conservatively while conserving fuel and I drove away from P3/P4 I couldn't keep up with Z28 though, I finished an easy 2nd while not ever having to push, basically drove a 2.04.7-2.04.9 the whole race. The guys behind me both sets fastest laps in the high 2.03's/low 2.04's but I guess they lost a lot of time battling each other.

I was in the new Lexus, which feels pretty good overall - I think I could set a low 2.03 maybe even a high 2.02 if I was pushing hard.

When will people learn when I have the hazards on I doing the slow down penalty that I was given. I was hit up the bum just now while serving the penalty on the Nations cup race

Were you on the racing line when serving the penalty? In the middle of the corner? Something like that?

Or did you go to the side of the track away from where others would be?

All most people know hazard lights for on gts are for trying to distract the driver in front. With this trying to perform a dazzling light show.

Haven't tried the Lexus yet but they seemed to be faster down a straight and saved tons more fuel than my Aston at Interlagos.

I do want to stick with the lesser used cars for the FIA races but boy, a round at Bathurst with the R8 was the exclamation point on why I never see it anywhere. Struggled just for 2:04s and I crashed every other time through the Dipper because it will snap around hard if your inputs are off even a little. That R8 needs help and yet PD made it even worse in the last update.

I tried the R8 around Blue Moon infield A for about 30 minutes, then one lap in the Lexus and I was nearly a half second faster.

R8 not the only problem car through the Dipper at Bathurst. I was losing half a second minimum just through that one corner alone in the 458, another top S/S guy I know had the same issue with the NSX. If you went through there at more than 6 mph it wanted to spear you into the nearest barrier.

Best results was treating the car like an old 911. Give it some throttle throughout the complex and it stays put. Well, most of the time.

There was no way I was going to drive the Toyko FIA race in hood cam. I needed max visibility for the divebombing and nose poking that was going to ensue.

I just did my first FIA race. Qualified and finished 3rd and then got disconnected rom the server. Is that generally what happens? Want to know if it’s worth bothering with.

Nope, and I do FIA everyday, pretty unusual that.

It's probably your internet. This has happened to me in an FIA race and multiple daily races because sometimes my internet drops when I'm not in an active online session.

Hello internet referees, if there is a thread for posting crash videos I apologise for using this one. This is from the manufacture cup race tonight:

Exhibit A: The Corvette driver claims my car lagged and gave him a penalty but to me it looked like he made a mistake and would rather attempt to knock me off the road (twice) than concede the position. I also hadn't seen any lag all race.

Exhibit B: I'm not really sure what happened here, I'm not blaming anybody [yet] it just felt very strange so I added it to the end of the video.

The lobby was for SR:S DR:S/A drivers and there was very little incident all race, no scores to be settled towards the end, etc. I'm also excited to see if I make the top 24 race, I'm about 30th overall but could end up in the top 2 of Merc drivers, the new system is great for people like me who will never be top 24 in DR.

I looked at rankings for my marque (VW). There are no SR S racers in there. Currently top is @Lost Sheltie

The Vette incident seems to be as you describe it but you could have lagged into him on his screen too, he'd still lost control before that anyway though. The second looks like a standard brake check because you were about to go past. Neither were your fault in any way.

I wasn't sure if it was a brake-check at the time or if they were out of tyres on the last lap and I hadn't left myself enough space to deal with it.

It will be interesting to see how this all effects the manufacture races from now one, do the quick guys go in the quickest cars or do they chose something slightly slower that less people will be using to try for that top 2 spot, it's whole extra strategy element.

You've seen a bit of that already but it's funny to see how many people think they are good enough to top 2 in Lexus or Chevrolet

Us Brits have done a good job in representing semi-decent manufacturers and looks like there'll be at least 8 of us in the Manufacturers top 24. I'm miles ahead of the next Ferrari (I'm shocked I was up in 7th overall after 3 rounds)

Tonight at Nürburgring, my SR went from 99 to 65. I received about 25 seconds of penalties because of other drivers making stupid moves and having the reactions of a snail. At almost every corner I was checking my mirrors, particularly at turn 1 after losing count of the number of dive-bombs.
The penalty system can be so unfair to drivers. And the suspects didn't even lose SR points! The penalty system must be fixed

EDIT: I was also punted in qualifying because I overtook somebody on our hot laps...

Country limit does in the end prove to be brutal in EMEA to the UK. 7 drivers in the Top 10 and 5 will have no chance to compete in the top 24 race.

Shame as the quality of the race will be much lower looking through the rest of the leaderboard, only a few of the 'big' names in a position to qualify this week.

Manufacturers though looks as good as usual quality wise. At least you can choose that

PD are making too many unnecessary changes. Unghosting inconsistently, ridiculously strict restrictions to racing in Top 24, a failed penalty system, the list goes on.
They must start listening to the commmunity, otherwise they will just drive fans away (pun not intended).
Of course we appreciate the free content, but the penalty system issues should've been addressed within the first month

After a sensationally long period, I decided to do a Nations Cup race again last night. I chose my Toyota 86 Group 4 for the race, and it really is a brilliant car. Naturally, qualifying was hectic with cars all over the place, making it difficult to get a clean lap. I had to create a rather large gap to make sure that I could get a good lap down. I managed to start in second, only about 0.25 seconds slower than the top time. That was better than I expected. In the race, I had to hound a Subaru WRX for quite a few laps, staying behind up until the pit stop. I didn't want to do anything stupid and I figured it would be better if I jumped him in the lane. Which I did, because the 86 is rather good on fuel. I then had first place and was never challenged. Win number 49 for me.

Just bring back equal penalties, that way at least you know the guy who punted you got punished for it.

Chalk reading comprehension fail on my end because I thought the server maintenance was today. Therefore, I entered the early FIA races thinking no one could get into the later ones. One, I started 3rd which was top of the mountain before so many things went wrong. Weirdly, the most annoying is yet again the Gr3 Aston which drove a lot worse than I had expected. Dissapointing because I really thought I had found something and was hitting really good times in mock runs.

Not wanting to leave on that note, I did the Nations Cup where I had people racing in front of me during my Q lap. In retrospect, that was a race I was that close to actually winning because 1st had a penalty. The one upside from both races is that I got much needed overtaking practice.

1st incident appears deliberate because the Corvette driver had already regained control of his car when he made that move. For the 2nd, my initial thought was that the driver lifted because that corner can induce understeer if you're not on the right line. However, the way his nose is pointed, I have doubts about that.

No word again yet on next season championshiop. See how it pans out.

Was just thinking that... today is usually the day they tell us the schedule... maybe we’re getting a new structure like others have predicted. I feel like the current format of the championships is for aliens, with the likes of the superstars race and what not. I’d like them to implement something that gives us all something to race for, what or how that is done I don’t know lol
