Bad slot 1 of Manu for me. I qualified 7th which was okay, and I moved up to 5th when a couple made mistakes on lap 1, but then I got shoved into the wall mid-way through lap 2, which dropped me to 12th. I watched the replay and it just looked like a mistake on their part, not dirty driving, so I don't have a problem with that.

On lap 3, I proceeded to then brake too late in turn 1, and punted someone into the gravel. Not intentional, I wasn't even going for a pass. They were pretty far ahead of me so I thought I could just hit my normal braking point and they would be through the turn with plenty of time, but I should have been more careful. Just a mistake on my part. Ended up 14th. It's been many races since I messed up and bumped someone like that so I feel bad. I said "I'm sorry" after the race and he said "f off, reported" to me. Oh well.

Still undecided if I'll try a later slot tonight or not.
 Nice racing with ya man! I think I know who you were talking about....
Same guy who used everyone else for brakes.

First race in Manu in the 2nd slot was a disaster, I couldn't get a good qualifying lap to save my life, both with and without slipstream, so even though I was Door #1 I got Q19. I skimmed through the race replay and the top 10 are all running similar times that I'm capable of running in a lobby, I just couldn't get past anyone ahead of me because it was always a group of 3-4 cars going 2-3 wide through corners who were also able to run at a similar laptimes (this lobby was really closely matched).

The only real drama was when I went up the inside of someone who left the door open but then turned in on me, which prompted them to try to run me off the road into the next corner, only for me to cleanly pass them the next lap and for them to take themselves out (as Alonso would say, "KARMA!"). So I'm gonna go again and pray that I can sort out qualifying.

Not usually one to call specific people out, but this guy needs to learn some racecraft. Every. Single. Race. I’ve been in with him he pulls some crap and ruins multiple people’s races.

and because of PD’s infinite wisdom he got through this whole thing penalty free

I think it was a crappy move on his part to take you out like that, however at the start of the video, there are two cars on the normal racing line, and he gave plenty of room to the other car. You showed up at the apex from a very defensive line and pushed him wide.

The whole incident through those 3 corners was a combination of those two. The contact through the left handed was semi-intentional on my part because I was tired of his antics.

He was even with the VW going into the corner and would’ve had the place yet decided to dive on the Atenza anyways. That caused the initial pile up which was then made worse by the guy who later drove me off the track after I gave plenty of space.

Like I said, I’m not one to normally call someone out or post footage of an incident, but he is a driver who pulls these antics in every single race lobby.

Manufacturers Race 23 - Sardegna
Wow, what a qualifying. I was actually pole until the last laps but ended up 2:nd. Did not really get a good rhythm the first few laps and was under relentless pressure so I did a lot of defending.
One of the cars following me was squeezing me out as he had the inside to turn 1. Totally unnecessary and I just held firm. Well, you see what happened and let me know what you think about his driving. Surely I'm not obliged to brake when he comes in like that ?
At the end, I was very happy with the result.

What is it with qualifying recently? Tires where bad from the second I pull out of the pits. Zero grip. And had gone maybe 30 laps of testing.

EDIT: Last to 8th. With a clean race bonus. Not a finish I want, but the finish I deserve. Lol

Was very fortunate here. Sat in P3 in the tow for 11 and a half laps with no chance of overtaking an 86 and a Megane Trophy until they came together at the bottom of the hill on the last lap. Ended up winning the race for what should be 30 manufacturer points - unfortunately it won't improve Alfa Romeo's total though.

Not ideal to inherit a win like that, but I don't think there was any other way I could possibly have won with this car at the moment. Hoping for a substantial buff tomorrow.

I'm hoping for an alfa buff to make this saturday's nations pick easier
After that marathon at RBR in the Nations race yesterday (and my insistence on running 4 of them), I'm good with a sprint tonight!!

29 minutes is about the longest race so far. 19 laps at that circuit was more than enough!

I really like the Sardegna layout for the Manufacturers race. In Gr4 should be a fun and competitive race.
We're set for roughly a 35 minute race in manu this saturday

I think it looks a bit more like aggressive racing all around rather than a total deliberate take out. But that said, if someone is always involved in incidents like that it definitely says something about their driving style.

Unrelated to your incident was the wicked cone bunnyhop from the VW there.

Yeah, this combo just isn't my combo. I managed to get a quali lap of almost 1:26 dead-on with no slipstream and qualified 13th, so much better than the last race, and in a higher-split room, too. I had a good gap to the person behind me that was widening until I took too much of the apex out of that corner where the crane is your braking reference, causing my car to hop into the dirt, and then I spent the next few laps defending before it ends in calamity into the final turn where we bump and I get pushed wide, and then coming into the constant-radius turn that leads onto the back "straight" I spin myself out. Down 2000 DR from those two races :irked:

FIA Manufacturers Series Rd 23 - Gr4 at Sardegna

Was looking forward to this one all week, and needed a good result after another tough Nations Cup round yesterday.

Jumped in, going for a one-and-done, feeling hopeful because the Porsches appeared to be strong in the races I saw. But you never know until you get into a qualifying session where you rank. Was 3rd going into my last qualifying lap, behind the provisional pole leader, @CurbHog (nice lap!) was purple through S1, but got sloppy over the rest and fell back to 6th for the race start. Good enough to start ahead of some of the 'characters' that I recognized in the lobby... was hoping to be able to stay ahead of them until we could put a gap on those types.

From there, I enjoyed one of the best and most competitive, clean races, I've had yet on GT Sport. Really close, fast racing amongst five of us, with no quarter but no foul play. LaBombaNegra, Dead Pipe Clinch, Joekertstijl, Revengel, and I all nose to tail and side by side, but very respectful hard racing. We all competed right up to the checkered flag, where I finished where I started in 6th, better than my targeted 8th for each round. Cheers to the rest of that pack, hope to have such a fun race again each round.

It was this close much of the race... great drivers in the front half of this grid.

Not too many lobbies that you could go into the hairpin at the end of this straightaway like this and all come out clean... so fun!
Round 23: #10 / Q6 / R6

PS: ran another in the alt account's Corvette. Also not a sleeper performer at all, like the AMG at RBR wasn't, but mustered a 3rd. Clean race, but could not reel in a TT after pounding out very consistent lap after lap, but he never flinched.

Some fun shots from the race at Sardegna... that track really tests the cars. No wonder the race was only 11 laps... the struts would end up getting hammered right up through the mounts after any more! Check out the range that these cars are tested at this place!

Maybe need to stiffen the rear sway bar! Haven't seen this outside of a World of Outlaws race!

And here... the car on the bump stops and WOT... what a test of the machinery!

I saw no fault on your end. You held your line and he moved into you. I don't see why he didn't hold his line because he wasn't really going to lose any momentum coming out of turn 1.

Disaster, not doing this race again in the McLaren. Didn't get a single clean lap in qualifying, so had to start from 19th.

In the race start, braked early into T1 but the guy ahead in a white BMW braked way too early, so had no choice but making a move to avoid hitting him. As I braked early myself, I made the apex without issues, was even touching the inside kerb, but the other guy turned in as if he was alone and clipped my rear bumper with his front one. Even though I didn't do anything wrong, it seems it triggered him and he then caused many dirty incidents just to get his "revenge" . 👎

First, guys ahead of me went 3 wide into the braking zone for T1. I was just behind with another driver and the BMW behind us. We all braked without hitting each other except the BMW who scored a 4-car strike, which ended with an Aston in the gravel. @Razgriz2118 just escaped that one by a few centimetres. Two corners later, the BMW punted the Mercedes behind me into the shadow realm on purpose. And the next lap he went for a divebomb against me, just using my car as a brake and even turning left mid-apex on a right hander just to try to push me to the gravel. Nice driving... :banghead: I probably should have punted him after that, as he even ran me off track many times as I tried to repass him, but I didn't.

Finished P15. Useless points and 550 DR loss. Done for the day before losing more.

Second try in the Manufacturer Cup:

Qualified 10th, couldn't put together a consistent good lap or time the slipstream.

After the first few corners moved up to 7th place.
Lap 2, under braking for T1, almost hit 6th place guy, so went wide to avoid contact and dropped to 8th, and another contact a lap later dropped me to 10th.

Worked up to 9th, and then it took another 6 laps to get close enough to make this pass for 8th place:

Last lap this happens:

Not sure why he punted me in to the sand. Luckily the pack of cars behind us had a gap of 2-3 seconds.
Barely managed to get it on the road and finish just 0.45x seconds ahead of the other cars.

Took like 10 laps of consistent driving to make up 2 places, so the chase was fun.

You did absolutely nothing wrong there, don't worry. He just came across, you were alongside and so you were entitled to hold your line.

Good job on getting a podium with the McLaren! 👍 My fastest race lap was 1 tenth off yours (was doing low 25s in TT). But on a 209 point lobby, I was absolutely nowhere with it. :nervous:

After last nights punts you were due a clean 1!

Mistake ridden race 1st slot for me. Got nothing right and finished 12th or lower I think. Took my son to soccer and hit the 9 o'clock race. Much better, in the lobby with @wedjim and a few other familiar faces. Qualified 2nd and finished 3rd. Two podiums for the week and a nice slice of DR, moved up a bracket I've noticed and had tracks and Meta cars that suit my style. Had door #17 so I doubt these results will continue as we drive tracks I'm unfamiliar with but onward and upwards

Round 23 Nations, Timeslot 2
If you've followed this thread, you'll probably have seen that I've had an awful streak of races recently and haven't gotten any meaningful points from them. I was cautiously hopeful though this round though because I felt good in the car. Qualifying, however, went poorly, as I couldn't hook up a good lap, and I only managed to qualify 13th, so I start on Hards.

There's some chaos into T1 and I'm able to go up to 9th. The people ahead, despite fighting, are able to pull away/maintain a gap, and a driver that I frequently get matched with was hot on my heels. I'm able to defend until Lap 5 when I get a bad exit out of T1 which lands me a 0.5s penalty, dropping me to 12th. I stay with the back of this group, and there's an incident into T3 that puts be back up to 10th. I'm hounded by the person behind me for 4 laps before they pass me, while I also pass someone who spins ahead. I decide to pit on Lap 10 for a set of mediums to try to undercut them.

I come out in 11th, and in a few laps I'm on the tail of the perosn in front of me, and I eventually pass them. But, because of a fight ahead, I can't lose them, and they follow me through when I pass for 9th. They stay on my tail until the the final lap... where I spin it. So I finish 14th.

Round 23 Nations, Timeslot 3

I decided to go again since I had nothing to lose and I felt good in the V12 Vantage GT3 + RBR combo. The game must've took pity on me because I was now placed in the split lower than the one I've normally been running (points for a win went from 223 to 191), and I went from Door #16 in the last race to Door #1 in this one, so I knew this was my race to lose. @csmirnoff was in this lobby with me, and took pole! I managed to qualify 3rd, after finally putting in a good lap. So, I just needed to not bottle it this time. Since I was starting up front I started on Mediums and planned to go for a 1 stop.

Race start, which unfortunately got cut off in this video clip, was dramatic behind me, but uneventful ahead and for me, luckily. The guy who started behind me messed up T1 and fell back, and the person behind me coming into T3 overshot their braking point and (thankfully) didn't hit me. So, I had a good margin to P4 behind me coming into T4, where the video begins. However, I completely spaced coming into T1 on Lap 3, meaning I overshot my braking point, letting P4 catch up to me and overtake me into T3. Coming into T6 on lap 4, @csmirnoff spins as they get forced wide, meaning I inherit P3. The person ahead of me catches up to P1 and they take off. Meanwhile, the person behind me begins to really put on the pressure as I have to drive very defensively for the next 2 laps, until I'm able to open up a gap again. By lap 7, all the fighting between the top 2 has allowed me to catch their slipstream, aiding in my defense from P4. It came to a head though at T3 on Lap 8. P2 was looking to get the cutback on P1, but because the space opened up and I was right on their bumper, I tried to make a move, which resulted in contact and the other driver being spun 90 deg. The incident allowed P4 behind me to pass, but also gave them a penalty for hitting me when I was slowed down by the collision. I was going to slow down but I saw they recovered quickly and were in 5th. With the pace they had, I felt they would catch up to me and I'd let them pass. I know I'll probably get criticism for not slowing down then-and-there, and I'll accept that.

Anyways, the person who got past me serves their penalty and I go back up into P2, and I'm under attack again. From having run Hards in the previous race, I knew their pace compared to my worn mediums, and since I knew I'd lose time defending and there was a good gap between us and another group, I dove into the pits at the end of Lap 9 for my one and only pit stop. I was hoping I could undercut everyone. The person who was originally behind me that served the penalty, alone with a host of others, did the same. I come back out in 5th, and I assume the person behind serves a penalty for track limits when entering the pits, which gives me some breathing room. By Lap 11, I'm back in 2nd as the leaders pit, and the person I spun is gaining quickly on me. I was going to let him pass me into T4, but he goes for a divebomb and slightly nudges me, which I deserve, but I'm slowed by only a tenth or two at most, and we continue racing. The leader for most of the race bins it the same way I did in the previous race at T1, and I inherit 2nd. Meanwhile, my tail from the beginning of the race is slowly reeling me back in. I found that I was better at T3 and T4, opening up the gap, and they were better in the T5-T6-T7 complex, which closes the gap up. However, I was beginning to open the gap up so they would lose the slipstream, until I ran wide in the final corner and got a 1s penalty, which allowed them to almost pass me into T4. I'm able to open the gap back up and maintain a buffer, but I couldn't break them out of my slipstream.

On the final lap, with the leader almost 8s ahead, I already accepted I'd get P2, which I was happy for... until I see that they pitted. The reason they were so quick was because they were on mediums in a 2 stop strategy, and I come out just ahead of them on the final lap. Better for me, they come out almost right along-side the person behind me, slowing them down into T3, opening up enough of a gap for me to come home with a victory and my best Nations points finish of 191 points.

I feel a bit mixed about the victory. I'm stoked for the win and the points, but 1), I had the questionable incident, and 2), it was in a split lower than I've been in for the past 6 or so rounds. Regardless, it was still nice to break the losing streak.

Well, 1 and done in manu race. Corvette felt ok, but was off a little bit, easy to drive, but required mistakes to gain spots from better handling cars (and drivers).
I had door 15 and got a couple decent Q laps, 1.25:83 being my best, about the same as practice, which put me 10th. The start was remarkably clean, but that might be due to seeing the same 8 or so racers every time I enter an FIA race lately, everyone says hello during warm up, which is cool. @CJam was in my race again, although deservedly further up the grid. I was faster than a Couple guys in front thru laps 3-8, but couldn’t get by clean. Kept having to check up to avoid a crash when they bobbled. I was 9th at this point. We went from 4+ seconds ahead of 10th place to them breathing down my neck for not forcing a pass. I still think I did the right thing. Even though I lost that spot, two in front who were a little on edge and grouped us up finally plebbed it and I gained those spots to finish 8th. 130 points. There was 4 drivers with an S/S rating in this race. Assuming they just kept running them all night and got dropped into our race? One qualified and finished behind me. :)

I’ll stick with 1 and done as I have been all season, other than 1 race where I used my Joker.

My race this evening went very well.

I was relieved that I managed to grab 6th in qualifying at the last minute, jumping up from possibly having to start 18th. During the race itself, things didn't really start to happen until lap 6, where me and a Mustang that was nearby went up a position because of an 86 that spun out. And at the end of the lap, the Mustang went off into the grass before the final turn, giving me a chance to pull away.

The only problem I had was a Cayman driver with a red bar connection that I was behind for the majority of the race. They would frequently "go off course", only to teleport back on the track. It was annoying and distracting but fortunately it didn't throw me off. However, on the final lap, their connection finally kicked the bucket and they vanished from the race, which gained me another position.

Also, a Jaguar F-type won the race, with two Audi TTs taking second and third, so it was nice to not see total FF domination on my end. :)

You were in the same race @wedjim and myself were in. I remember admiring that beautiful livery on your Lambo! You were gaining as well on the later laps, went from 4 seconds to 2 coming onto the last straight, last lap. The dude in the Jag was quick. #10 on the door and beat the #2 in the other Audi....I couldn't keep up with either

3 attempts tonight:

Slot 1: #18 / Q17 / R14

Slot 3: #10 / Q13 / R15

Slot 4: #13/ Q6 / R10

Tough races, unlike previous clean races I experienced, this round was more like a Daily Race... people trying to get ahead no matter what... lots of bumps, shoving, and chaos!

Going away on a 4 race hiatus to enjoy some summer vacation!

Will see you again at Suzuka!

Hey kids, don’t be like this guy, especially on the first lap. We lost the leaders because of this, and things were worse off for all of us who weren’t in the front pack that got away. If you have the pace to catch someone or win the race, you have time to do it. Can’t believe I have to deal with this stuff in top split.

Have had same issues with the same guy :indiff:, most recently yesterday...

3 races, all qualified outside the Top 15, and all finished outside the Top 10. My best result was the final slot when I qualified P18 and finished P11. My practice pace led me to believe I could get a good result here, but once I was in the actual race, the 'Vette refused to respond to my steering inputs. Even in practice races with all the correct settings, the Corvette still felt way better to drive than it was in the actual FIA races. I really need to start having good finishes again soon if I ever want to crack the Top 100 in Manufacturers. Here's hoping BMB is good to me...

Not defending him by any means, but I really wish lower splits were only that dirty...

Tonight I had my best FIA finish in my first Manufacturer’s season!

Qualy felt good and I set an early provisional pole, but ended the session P2 behind a Corvette who picked up a good tow (from me...d’oh).

Clean start, but a mistake going up the hill on lap 2 drops me to P6. I focused and responded with a FL on lap 3. I then spent several laps behind a very defensive and not very quick Nissan. Lap 8 we go wheel to wheel before the uphill turn and they brake way too deep and go off.

Back in P2, but the leader is now 7 seconds clear thanks to all the Nissan’s blocking and there is a hungry pack not far behind. I’m able to pull away from the pack, but a Lexus that battled from a P12 start stays about a half second back. Lap 11 and I shift late out of 4th gear on the main straight which gives the Lexus the boost they need to slingshot past and take FL from me. The wide ass on this Honda sure makes a nice slipstream. My mistake, but they raced well. P3 finish. Could have been more, but I will gladly take it.
