Tried one more race. Started P11. Ran Fuel 1 with some redline and some coasting to end of Lap4. Had 5.7laps left. Filled to 6.9Laps. Was in the lead by 7.4 second. Came out 4 seconds behind the four AI cars that pass me.

Redline shifting, left me with 3.9 laps left at end of Lap 7. Too much fuel added. I think a mid-race fuel stop for me, might work depending on where I qualify.

I'll be able to go full throttle in the slipstream and maintain a high terminal speed for the duration of the race. We'll see.

Edit: or not

Hopefully the slot I run has some guys who are a bit slower. As after running a lobby race with @Geauxgreddy, where everyone seemed to have pitted, I was lost. Couldn’t catch the draft and at fuel map 1, was losing at least a second a lap to a Viper on the straight who had his fair share of run-ins with the wall.
This is what I'm hoping for too, I'm struggling to decide my approach with the Atenza.
Seems to need a lot of discipline to get it to the end with a no-stop strat, possibly more discipline then I have available!

Looks like you got my usual lobby. I'm in with the hoons I'm SR A.

Timed it nice. 2:30 to go. I pitted and ran on last lap all alone without grazing the final corners this time.

Didn't make it out T1 alive. I motored past the Cayman and stayed far left so the Cayman. Could have a clear line of sight for braking. Nope. We get smashed off by someone from the way back.
I recovered to 6th and with 2 seconds, as I fortunately, exit the pile up. Just floored to try and get the lead pack and make something of this.

I think a C7 got a wall penalty. Next, caught a Viper. I think(I'll watch the video).edit: A TT didn't brake early enough and instead of the wall, chose the track and hit the Caan into me. Oh well.

Anyway, the short of it. I missed putting end of Lap 4, because I was a bit upset I burned fuel. Pit end of Lap5. Filled to 5.7Laps and gave it my all. Sitting P16.
Many conse ver, some pit. Was able to get spots from those that pit late. Jumped some conserving. Last lap, passed a Cayman and braking into T1, I get tapped on my right rear and 1 second for me. Unbelievable.

Serve my penalty. C7 outbrakes Cayman into the penultimate corner. I overtake the Cayman at corner exit. C7 moved over just enough so couldn't get the slipstream, while I was next to the Cayman. Once in it, that's the result.

I have to try this again.

Well, nothing crazy in my race. Tried to qualify at my race speed since I only had about 2 laps practice. Started p8. Bit of bumping turn 1, 2 dorks bashing each other down the track until they served penalties. Then it settled in. I couldn't save enough to no stop, but pulled in end of lap 6 and topped up with the 1.4 laps I was short. Worked way to p5, get into p4 when the driver ahead serves a penalty, then get right on the rear of p3 and they get a wall hit, gifting a podium.

Booming 49 points, but a mistake in qualifying and a few wall scrapes mean it is still SR rehab for now.

Good luck out there, bring home a clean car:gtpflag:👍

Racked up 7 seconds of penalties on my first hot lap, still qualified 8th on the first qualifying run. Ultimately Qualified 3rd, had a clean race and finished 3rd but lost SR thanks to qualifying.

Will have to run the next few races so I might get into a decent split by the end of the night.

Was pretty rubbish on this track when I did a bit of practice but entered anyway! Qualified 18th without draft. Screwed up the lap when I got in a draft!

just intended to go all out and do a pit stop but people were driving slow to save fuel and avoid walls/each other so I decided to shift at 50% and turn down the fuel map and save too. Had made up a couple of places before people started pitting. Decided I was going to chance the no stop. Was in 12th on the final lap and annoyingly clipped the wall for my only penalty dropping to 14th. I ran out of fuel 50 meters from the line.

That's me for today. Q2, I suck at fuel saving so I ran flat out and pitted for fuel only at the end of L6. Cheers to mgspyker, if you're reading here you should have had that race. I was sorry to see you lose to a stupid wall penalty.
If I'd qualified further back that wouldn't have been close to a win, the no-stop fuel saving race is probably the better option in higher ranked rooms.

Finished 2nd earlier after someone fuel saved in the tow the whole race and just burned me on the last two laps.

Matched with him again and returned the favour by staying in the tow for most of the race, then held him off to win.

Can't seem to gain any SR, got divebombed then hit someone who hit the wall in front of me in qualifying, which was enough for a net loss of sportsmanship for the whole event despite having an incident free race, so unfortunately stuck racing for not many points.

Keep getting hit with the connection error after updating the PS.

It came back for a while, but now it's out again. The PS is fully connected, every other game and the store works, but not GTS.

Wasn't thrilled about this race but I sat Fuji out so I was going to run this anyway, but now I'm sitting this one out because I can't be bothered with these connection issues.

A disappointing 6th after I tried fuel saving. Seems like I would have been better off running away, I managed to stay behind some squabbling by virtue of me trying to go carefully but I could definitely have been higher. I think I'm going to bet on myself for once and try again.

Two Porsches in my race were miles away.

Just realised this was me, with the exact same race time, and about 3 extra points. Definitely going again. Hopefully my second effort is better than yours.

Manufacturer Series Round 8
A nice drive around Tokyo with @stpatty. Or at least, he was also on the circuit. I was miles behind.

@stpatty - I saw your offer to work together during quali, but I don't think I'd have been able to actually support you on this circuit. The Mitsubishi's acceleration is so poor, you'd never get anything from me down the main straight where it really mattered. Even at the start of the race, I almost lost my slipstream heading towards turn 1 just flooring it in a straight line, it's that bad. All you'd get from me is dirty air through the twisty bit.

I shot myself in the foot during qualifying by hitting the back wall on the final turn on the outlap and getting a penalty. Quit back to the pits, and then had to qualify with no slipstream so I could only manage P17.

Worked my way up to P13 during the race with the fuel saving though, so it did work out. Just a shame it was a fairly poor result (but it could have been much worse!)

Some slightly dirty shenanigans with a Jaguar who picked up a penalty by hitting the wall, then swerved left and right when we approached the penalty line to stop me and a Mercedes passing him so that we'd be slow enough for him to retain the slipstream after he served it. :odd:

Definitely going to leave it there, I can't imagine that getting much better. Just not a stage for the Mitsubishi, exposing all the weaknesses and not really playing to any of the strengths.

Here's hoping Laguna Seca goes better. The Gr.3 Evo could be decent there, being more of a handling circuit. 👍

Went again. Qualified 5th despite not getting a slip. I had planned to pit here but ended up staying out and if anything over-saved. It was easier to save with people in front who knew what they were doing (plus, no Caymans)

Ended up 4th for 167 points, 3 and a bit seconds off the lead. I think I could run this race all night and keep scoring well, but I'm leaving it there.

Yeah. I had a mega start. By the time the SLS caught up, we were braking for T1. Exit acceleration, gave me a 2 second gap. From there, I built 4 seconds for the next 2 laps. Lap3, there was position exchanges for second place. That opened it up to 7.3 seconds by lap 4.

I went to lap 5. Pitted with 2.3 laps remaining in the tank. Added 2.1 laps of fuel. Came out directly behind a Cayman in 4th. Leader was 3 seconds ahead. Was about to dispatch the Cayman at the esses on the same lap. I was going to get that lead on the straight.
Never got the chance. I got disconnected, just before passing the Cayman.

Starting 8th in the Honda, I'm dreading that T1 braking zone already.

EDIT: That was surprisingly clean. I made my way up as high as 3rd thanks to pitstops and penalties for those around me, but underestimated my consumption on a hotlap, resulting in my tank running out about 250m short of the tunnel on lap 8. I emerged in no man's land in 6th, and ended up 5 secs off 5th and nearly 5 secs ahead of 7th for 102pts. Judging by the foul tempers in the lobby afterwards, it's almost as if I was in a different lobby to the rest of them. :o

Not real excited for tonight's race but I'm going to do it anyway. It doesn't fit my racing style (I tend to do better on technical tracks) or my car (Audi TT Cup). However, it's become very obvious to me as I've started to slightly improve just a little bit that I need to work on my weaknesses as well as the things I enjoy. I don't have high expectations but at least I know I can pull a no-stopper and that it's worth it. In my practice race the guy I whose slipstream I was towing finished almost 15 sec behind me - and that was with me running clean air the last 3 laps and fuel mapping like crazy to stretch my tank without a slipstream.

Well, after the issues with PS update, managed to get some racing today.

Manufacturers Cup - Vipers invading Tokio:

Slot3 - qualified without any slipstream as I did not trust myself pushing and following another car in the twisty section. Did a 2.07.5 and started in P12. Start was without incidents for me, but gained 2 positions after other people mistakes. Was making good progress, being in P10 but one car in front knocked over one barrel in T1, threw it right in my way and as I was steering lost control and hit the wall, getting also a 1.5s penalty in the process. After serving is was P20, stuck in a group of 6 other cars. They did make mistakes, started recovering up to P16, the had a bit of clean air and my fuel-saving crawl was faster than others. In the end, managed to gain another 3 positions and finished in P13 for 117 points.

Was thinking to take the result, but as my usual racing friends had problems with PSN too decided to go again.

Slot3 - Much stronger lobby this time, #19 in the room - just me and another A rated driver. Not many expectations there, just to have a decent race and hope for no incidents. Did a 2.07.3 in quali, again putting me in P12 on the grid. Started clean and kept with my group for about 4 laps while fuelsaving. A faster Belgian in a BMW got through and he managed to break away from me but I was no able to push so kept it slow and steady. In Lap7 the guy in the Corvette in front of me got a penalty so I got up to P10. However half a lap in clean air messed up with my fuelsaving so I had to slow down the pace a bit and 1 lap later the Corvette got his rightful position back. Had to settle for P11 and 152 points, but I am happy with the race as it was a very strong lobby and the Viper was not really the strongest car in slipstream.

The 152 points were not enough to count yet, but these are my "banker" points that would get my Manufacturer count to at least 911 points for the season. Pretty much sure that these are enough for top200 in EMEA, but I can real push for points in the last 2 races as I like both Laguna Seca and Suzuka and maybe break into top150.

Manufacturer’s Race Round 8:

Last race in the EMEA D/S lobby. My Toyota 86 and I qualified 9th on RH.

1 orange arrows, penalties at T1 when a nice racer from behind bumped me, and plenty of green ones during qualifying and the race, my strategy was pitting while completing L6, worked out good. No slip stream all night, lost it at the start and never got it back.

Points tally for the race: Gained a whopping 62 DR points and gained 3 cup points for Ireland. SR started the night at 99 and ended at 99.

Racing craft was great! Finished 9th (10th with 3 second penalty after hitting the stupid wall on the last turn TWICE). I should have just let the French man racing me side-by-side coming into the last 2 turns go ahead and maybe caught him on the exit but it was still a good finish.

I enjoyed the online racing today, I hoped you all did too.

Enjoy your future racing!

Watched your stream before I went to do the 9pm race.
Exact same thing happened to me, was constantly caught between staying in some slip and saving some fuel! Frustrating race to say the least. (Q11, finished 14)

Cayman won my race aswell.

Why I am not going to bother running. Tested and felt good with my times, but second I ran against a non-AI in a Viper, I k ew I was doomed.

I got my first FIA win!!!!

First two slots were, to put it mildly, a disaster (15th and 17th respectively), went for one more go in the baby Aston, got a smashing slipstream in quali and managed not to wall it for an entire lap so qualified second, mild shennanigans in turn one left me still in second behind a Scirocco who had a four second penalty to serve (he had t-boned the leader mid corner) so I followed him to the penalty line and sailed past. Managed to pull out a seven second gap to second, pitted for fuel at the end of lap 6 and was still 7 seconds ahead afterwards, eventually won by 13 seconds.

3 attempts at Tokyo last night. Running the Cayman, so should have been an opportunity to be competitive.

Race 1 Q6 with the initial banker lap run at the front in clean air. Was 0.5s ahead of time on final lap of qualy but hit the wall on the final hairpin and got a penalty. The race itself was marred by a few mistakes in tapping walls including a 1.5s penalty, but overall not too terrible given my awful history in FIA. The Cayman was a great mix of fuel consumption and speed and I managed to finish p4.

Race 2, found myself in a higher lobby with some very good racers. Door 19, qualified 11 again running in clean air at the front. The race itself was an absolute ripper. The front 2 cleared out early but a group of 5 of us were in some tight racing for virtually the entirety of the race. Into the last lap and the Cayman had enough fuel for me to rev it up and approaching the right hander under the bridge I was in p7 the slip of p6 with p3 only a few car lengths ahead of that. I got a great exit onto the straight(ish) section and as I pull out to go past p6 and p5, TV screen goes black. I hear the bang of hitting a wall before I can hit pause and then disco'd. Registered a DNF.

I was 50/50 on whether to try a 3rd race as the red mist had descended after the previous technical issues, but I figured this was a combo made for the Cayman and it's been so uncompetitive elsewhere I better try and make the most of it. Back in a slightly lower lobby with door 10 I nailed qualifying and finish Q3. Incredibly almost a full second behind Q1 driving the Viper. I took a conservative approach to the race itself tucking into the slipstream, allowing others to fight each other and tracking around p4-6 for the first 6 laps. Having saved a lot of fuel, I open up the throttle from lap 7 and the TTs and Mercedes around me pit. Suddenly I'm p1 with 3 laps to go and around a 2.5s gap to 2nd (the pole getter in his Viper). I'm in a great groove, the Cayman is doing its fastest laps of the race and I feel great. Starting the final lap, the Viper has cut the gap to under a second but I'm still feeling confident. I'm nailing my braking points, the turns are all hooking up and I couldn't be doing better. Somehow the Viper is still gaining though. Into the right hander under the bridge and I get it absolutely spot on. The gap to the Viper is now inside 0.5s but I'm still feeling it. Around the hairpin and the Viper is large in my mirrors. I know he'll get a good draft down the straight but it's going to be touch and go. I get the exit perfect and have just enough fuel to get to the line, it's now a straight line sprint. The Viper pulls out before we enter the tunnel and I am helpless as he edges ahead. We enter the tunnel and I manage to duck in behind for my own draft. I start gaining ground as we come down the hill and now I have to pull across to begin an overtake. Could this really work? We hit the line and I am 0.029s short of the Viper. Heartbreak and exhilaration in equal measure. By far the best FIA race I've ever had. And massive respect for the guy in the Viper and his superior skill. What a blast!

Edit: Turns out the guy in the Viper is an 80k+ rated driver. With my rating at just under 30k I'm even happier now.
