So, at the manufacturers race for today. I somehow got pole position by quite a margin and somehow avoiding all of the wreckfest behind me on the first stint. Pitted at the end of lap 9 with enough of a lead and still held on to the lead after the tire and gas stop. Won the race by half a minute or so in an all b/s field and lapped two backmarkers in the process. Lesson here is, if you started on pole position on this race on tokyo central outer loop you have a great shot at winning the race but its not 100% certain that its going to happen but it worked out great for my point haul for the season.

Ah yes, I remember that. There were three Brits in the lobby and we finished 6th, 7th and 8th

I couldn't get the car hooked up in qualy - I'd been doing 19.3s in practice, but only just nicked a 20.8 in qualy. Race laps were all 1'21.x until I pitted, then smashed a 19.7 straight out of the box. Thinking about it, I should have kept the tyres, because I'd probably have made it and not suffered the 8s static time for the tyre change.

So I started 14th, ran up as high as 2nd, pitted, came out in 9th and finished 7th

An interesting race for sure

I crossed the line in 6th I think or you and the other brit must have passed me on the line .

My best result of this season . I've not had much luck with the audi's so far but found them great in previous seasons .

We're you in the megane
?

Manufacturer's Series - Tokyo Expressway (Central Outer Loop) - Viper Gr. 4

After practicing this claustrophobic track, I barely managed to get pole position. Cool. With some really good racers starting right behind me, I was nervous as hell. I definitely showed it with some wall scraping. I see 2nd place closing the gap, and I think at this time, I started to get some really bad anxiety because I started breathing heavily and felt my heart racing and felt uneasy.
"Holy crap he's closing the gap... Breathe. Breathe. Do this turn correctly for the love of God!!!"

At the end, it looked like he hit the wall on the second high-speed turn and opened the gap.
I see the finish line.
I cross it.
I cry.
No really. I cried like a b-tch because I finally won an FIA race. Now if you excuse me, I need to go lie down..
San Francisco Shock is still the best team in the world. #ShockTheWorld

E - If anyone has the replay of the race, can you send me it from my perspective? Thanks!

Manufacturer race summed up:
Seeded #11 so points weren't as good as my previous race at Blue Moon Bay.
Qualified P14 because both my flying laps were blocked by back-markers on their out-lap.
Get told to shut up by one of the guys after I asked why.
Finish the race P6 with the guy far back.

I've basically all but secured S ranking for next season now so now I can focus on finding out how to drive this Gr.3 Alfa Romeo with this err... "interesting" setup.

Tonight was a tale of two completely races.

Nations, I was the only one that dared use the Renault. I started 9th with a time that was okay but could've been better. The main objective at Brands for me didn't change; stay on the circuit. Had a close call or two early but I was content just trying to stay pace with the midpack train. Something happened behind me and I didn't have to worry about defending. A lot of things happened in front of me but I was a bit too far back to tell what. There must have been around 3~5 incidents with a car going off track and/or spinning out. That's how I climbed to a respectable 6th place without having to do one overtake. My pace was not there but it never is at Brands so I was willing to take it.

Manufacturer's was not kind to me at all. The field had a Citroen, an Alfa, a Viper, several fuel sipping Lexi and my Jaguar rival. Even with a good lap, I was stuck in 9th which was right in the middle of the danger zone for this track. The first few laps was just trying to hold my place while saving some fuel and it was working well enough. Unfortunately, the driving standards out there was poor and something eventually happened in the tunnel. Several cars got tangled and someone was super slow in my lane. I had to hit the brakes just to not slam him into oblivion. The good news was no penalty but I lost so much momentum that I was pinballed backwards at least 5 spots in the grid. My race was done at that point with far too much jocking around me which cost a lot of time to the next group of cars. Thought at least I had saved quite a bit of fuel and tried an overcut since I had saved the tires some.

Nope. Everyone still got far ahead of me and worst of all, I had to conserve fuel despite overfilling. I'd take Blue Moon Speedway many times over instead of Tokyo Central. That's how awful I thought it was. 👎

Arg.

Lost a 2nd or 3rd place Manufactures finish to three 5 second wall contact penalties:

I say "2nd or 3rd" because I had to go into fuel conservation mode in the last lap and P3 (the Megane placed 5th on the above finish grid) caught me right at the finish line, but he had a penalty - so depending on penalty arrangement I could've been second, but controversy-free I would've taken 3rd.

I'm currently a DR B and SR S on my account and in 10 races I've done in both series and both seasons, I have 5 wins, 9 top 5s and 6 poles. Can't complain.

Brands was a war of attrition. It was a pretty elite lobby, mostly top 50 borderline top 24 players, yet every single person other than the pole sitter who won by about 15 seconds crashed at least once. There were constantly cars spinning everywhere, especially before the pit stop.

Squeaked into the room with car #20, the lone WRX against the barrage of Porsches with a smattering of Beetles, Renaults and Lancers. Qualified 13th, up as high as 6th at one point, but went off track twice and ended up 10th. Was comfortably in 8th before I spun at the last corner (my usual spinning place) with a few laps to go.

Didn’t run manufacturers since that track is garbage and don’t want to give PD the satisfaction of one more participant. It works with Fiat 500s or SFRs, or something on CH tires so you actually have to brake for the corners. But not in high grip race cars where it’s just a test of muscle memory and strategic bouncing off of things more than racing.

Normally I don't qualify for any of the races I do because I like starting in the back just to see how many spots I can gain. The Manufacturer race at Tokyo is a difficult track to make up ground so I decided to qualify for the first time. Started 4th with a 1:18 time but I was running 1:17 in practice.

Me (4th) and 3rd place (GTR) took over 1st & 2nd fairly quickly and from there I was chasing the GTR all race running consistent 1:18 every lap. I could run down the GTR at the end of long runs but on fresh Tires I couldn't catch it to save my life.
I finished 2nd and 8 seconds behind the GTR even though I was setting multiple fast laps also 3rd & 4th were nowhere to be seen. Very Clean Race and I never once touched the wall or anyone else all race and yet oddly enough no clean race bonus.

I'm still very happy with the end result at Tokyo.

On Brands Hatch for the Nations cup one guy managed to block my two attempts of hotlapping. I still managed 5th with the 4c. The race was a disaster. I made more than 5 massive mistakes, went to the gravel on turn 1 twice. Pace was all over the place. Wouldve been nice to end up higher to get more DR points, but at least i didnt lose any.

Manufacturers i also had a bad qualifying, but this time it was all on me. Couldnt get a good lap at all. But, as you can see below, this bad qualify was actually a good thing for me. I cruised my way to the pitstop saving a lot of fuel and jumped all 3 cars by under fueling. Had to save more in the second stint, but still managed a good pace driving by myself.

Tokyo was a disaster. Where is Alsace, and Blue Moon Infield? This track is a joke.

And for Nations, this pretty much sums it up.

That was me ahead of you. There was nowhere to go, he blocked the entire track. Hard enough with all the weight on the left, I couldn’t turn right anymore than I did.

You certainly came out of nowhere with that pitstop

I had the same struggles in qualifying, trashed two mid 16's hitting the wall in the final sector that might have made a difference starting in front. All in all not too shabby for my first FIA race, had a nice tussle going with windfire for most of the race but totally blew turn 1 into the wall near the end and of course he gets the penalty for hitting me in the rear after my mistake. Was deathly afraid of ruining his race being inconsequential in the points standings and the nerves got to me, I had a lot of trouble deciding whether I should take the normal racing line or leave room for side-by-side action into the apex when he was right behind. Of course he performed exemplary when I was inches behind him for multiple laps, hopefully no hard feelings for this noob who normally only does time trials

I have hit that wall way too many times to be even slightly upset. I had nothing for the Viper that race. My pole lap surppised the hell out of me. Was nowhere near that in practice.

First turn is hard to nail it. On draft behind all of you i didnt nail it once, only when i got free air i did a couple of times.

Let me give you an advice: try to work on fuel economy on the viper. It can be very competent on it. In fact, the car that i had the most fear i wouldnt jump was you. The Genesis is not good on that and the 4C has to rev the hell out of it to perform.

But when i saw you were on 14, i could breathe in peace.

I wanna thanks the mod for editing the previous message; i was still pissed about that driver with that ironic name and I forgot for one second the "don't name or shame" rule :( I'm deeply sorry, it won't happen again ;)

Yep, I didn't even give a thought to the time that could be saved in the pits refueling, I was revving it to the very end the whole race (as I said above, time trial noob ). I can definitely see why the viper can be good at saving fuel, you can shift very early with a minimal loss of time.

Yep, that was me smack dab in the middle of the track. Followed the two drivers ahead of me off onto the gravel into turn 1. It pitched me sideways right onto the racing line. My car was ghosted and I let the auto-drive take hold of it thinking that it would keep me ghosted until I was back up to speed (my first time trying this, by the way, as someone recommended it here on the forum as a safe way to get back onto the track in the event of an off), but I unghosted just as nommy was about to pass through me and all hell broke loose. Apologies to the both of you. I felt bad ruining everyone's race. I sent you both an apology via PSN as well.

At some point, I think we've all been flying every which way on that part of the track. Beyond unghosting at just the wrong time, I just noticed how hard it would be to see you. I've never really thought about that, but the ghosting kind of blends in with the sand. Accidents happen, good thing it's just the best four races that count.

Terrible qualification for me at Tokyo, couldn't get anywhere close to the time I usually do, found out later on (after the 2nd FIA race) that my tv was not on gaming mode. Race was terrible as I start 16th, people in front of me hit the wall and I had no chance to avoid, 5 sec penalty, then on lap 8, I wanted to go for one more lap but the car in front of me decide to brake on the right, just before entering pits, nothing I could do either, and here's my 10 sec penalty so that's 15 total now, got up to 8th, same things, two car wreck in front of me, I had no way to avoid them, and another 5 sec penalty, which put me at 20 sec penalty. Finished 12th after serving penalty, would have been 6th without.

Brands hatch same things again, can't get my timing right (because of input lag) so ends up 1 sec behind the time I did in practice the afternoon (yes it was a practice with fuel and tires), end up 6th after qualification. I managed to overtake a car in first corner but messed up my braking on 2nd corner slightly taping the car ahead and causing a bit of a mess, but not too much (sorry again if anyone was on my race) ended up 4th but clipped the grass a bit later on the lap and end up 14th. Climbed slowly my way back to 8th with clean and fun racing with other guys, one guy was blocking and waving, I let the car behind me pass because they were taking to many risk behind to overtake and surely enough 3 corners later he tried a dive bomb on the driver in front which took both drivers out, profit for me and most point this season for me.

Results could have been much better, last two FIA races I clearly drop the ball, hoping to do better on Saturday.

No worries, stuff happens, just unfortunate bad timing. Now we know the auto drive trick doesn’t always work as intended lol
