Entered the fast left and just barely clipped the outside edge of the track and it spun me around like I hit an oil slick. Stopped and let the couple cars go by before getting back on...car wont move and it starts counting down me getting DQ'd for too much of a time penalty.............

FWIW, this countdown starts when the game considers one moving in the wrong direction, even off track. Once one is back on track and moving in the right direction, the countdown stops.

When I see how much faster Nik is at the end of yesterday's race in comparison with all the other aliens from Europe and the Americas, it puts a smile on my face :)

I see a lot of great drivers in there (some of which were at the live event in Nurburgring).

Does he ever speak for himself or are you some sort of controllable dummy?

I just follow him. I haven't seen him speak yet in his streams, but all I know is that this is how he looked (and sounded) like a couple of years ago: :D

He looks a bit nervous in my opinion, due to the fact that he said some words a bit weirdly (FIA, forum, etc.). I wonder how he's like today.

2 interesting races last night:
I did a dumb in Le Mans qualifying outbraking myself into Mulsanne corner and spinning. From 12th on the grid I stayed out of trouble for the first stint and picked off places when I could, everybody else pitted at half way so I did 1 extra lap and pushed really hard. Somehow I came out in the lead and ran away in the last 2 laps with the fresh tyres.

Suzuka was more straight forward, I started 2nd but couldn't live with the pace of the leader (I was struggling with the balance of the Lexus). I went into the pitstop 6s off the lead but my granny driving had saved enough fuel to make my stop 5s quicker. For whatever reason he kept pushing really hard and crashed at Degner 2 to give me the lead. I ended up winning by 9s (he had crashed again trying to catch me).

2 wins but 2 totally different races.

Had a terrible Manufacturers race. Practiced about 20 laps, all of them between 2.02.2xx and 2.02.7xx.
Then qualification: opened some space in front and behind me, and started my routine, was doing wel until the corner just before the hairpin, in the esses I had to avoid a ghosted car, he immediately started following me and pit maneuvered me so I was doing 360s into the sandbox. Lap ruined. Next lap again a ghosted car in the esses, he steered onto the tarmac right in front of me (I had nowhere to go) and got solid in front of my nose, I did try to avoid contact resulting in, again, 360 and into the gravel. After that my tires were worn out, I did manage to get a 2.05 lap resulting in P17.
Race started and I immediately felt something was a bit off. It felt like the grip was much less then during the free practice session. The GTR on P18 started pushing immediately and eventually pushed me off track, placing me dead last.
I did manage to get back to P15 due to other people making mistakes and sightseeing in the sandboxes. I pitted after lap 9 and after changing my tires the car handled the same as during free practice again. Obviously I was not in a good flow so the fastest lap I managed to squeeze out was a 2.04.xxx.
Really disappointing race since the race pace of the leaders was around 2.02.6xx so it feels like a much better result should have been possible if only I would have been able to set a lap time similar to my practice session.

I think it's very strange that the car felt so much different during the race session compared to the practice session, but then again, maybe it was just me and I made the car feel nervous because of my own nerves, however, I never experienced this during daily races.

You generally are slower and the handling is slightly different in the races vs practice since tire and fuel consumption are on in the races. The higher they are the more pronounced the difference

So based on the Manufacturer Points system found here https://www.gran-turismo.com/gb/gtsport/fia2018/detail/ and a look through each region leaderboard I've got the standings after Round 1 as;

1. Nissan - 125 points
2. Ferrari - 108
3. Porsche - 99
4. Mercedes - 78
5. Lexus - 72
6. BMW - 68
7. Ford - 65
8. Mitsubishi - 59
9. Dodge - 56
10. Subaru - 52
11. Chevrolet - 46
12. Aston Martin - 46
13. Toyota - 45
14. Honda - 44
15. Mazda - 36
16. Hyundai - 33
17. McLaren - 27
18. Jaguar - 26
19. Citreon - 22
20. Renault - 17
21. Audi - 17
22. Alfa Romeo - 16
23. VW - 14
24. Peugeot - 13
25. Lamborghini - 10

Obviously only 1 round in Gr3, more rounds with both Groups to be more representative. Suzuka is by far the weakest Renault track and that bloody Megane Trophy will eat up points , Tidgney had an off race in the Pug so that threatens to climb as well along with Hellzfire in the Citreon.

Was fun , but not maximized it.
Le mans i don't know very Well, became 10th, 1400ish points. Suzuka was 4th, 0.5 sec behind 3th in last lap, it was a bit all of nothing for 3th. So instead of 2300 points for 4th place, i got 1800ish points for 7th place, so a bit dissapointed.
Stupid me that always wants the maximum possible.

I was far to slow for Suzuka with the Renault, i am A/S driver, and i was lucky with my group, with 2:03,000 i started as 7th, but did two crashes in the Tight Corner, which was undriveable with the Renault, finished 8th., and earned 453 Points. At the end it was a bad drive by my side.

That's too bad. :boggled:

Since I got a blue screen after warm-up of the second to last round of the Nations Cup pre season, I'm now always restarting the game before joining a FIA race, hoping to minimize the risk of it happening. Fingers crossed...

I am doing the same, especially after an update was released. I had a blue screen during the preseason, since it was the race I was really good at it hurt a lot.

Nations Cup was a fun race last night for me. Qualified 4th, battled to 2nd, and then made a last minute decision in the pits and got new tires as well on the 919. Exited the pits in 8th and then clawed my way to a 5th place finish.

Suzuka always get in my head. The Manufacturers Cup was catastrophic. I qualified 5th but my race was ruined by the simple fact that most drivers, even with an SR S, don’t understand that during the first few turns in just about any race you have to yield to the traffic ahead. I was pushed in T1 and obtained a penalty but maintained my position. A few laps later I was punted off track during a braking zone. Finished 12th I believe.

Suzuka is such a diverse track. Certain cars are faster on different sections which leads to a lot of overlapping braking zones, acceleration zones, and lines. Pair that with the lack of race traffic knowledge and its a recipe for disaster.

Suzuka 1: Me 0

I still don't get why the risk of blue screen (and losing of ~2k DR therefore) is in a FIA race room entering so much high.

In several hundred daily races it happened to me not even once, but back then in the begining times when I also joined FIA races, it used to happen perhaps every 4. or 5. time. That was the main reason, why I stopped with FIA races, because this is just not acceptable.

I'm really surprised that its still the same obviously

And if I had a clean qualifying like I had planned I would've been around 7 seconds faster than Nik in the Nations Cup race with my strategy. By the way how did his Suzuka race go I wonder? You didn't mention that. Oh that's right, he made mistakes and finished 9th and tens of seconds behind fastest race times. But you know that's completely fine. We all push hard and sometimes make mistakes that cost.

Don't get me wrong though I can see your boy is a good driver, but I hope you understand that your own constant promotion, half-true 'evidence' and unnecessary jabs at people who try to help might just have the opposite effect that you think and actually do disservice to people's views on Nik. I don't know how he himself feels about your 'enthusiasm' (if he knows even) but it would be the first thing I would ask of him if I ever got the chance to meet him in person.

who has signed Mclaren? in Europe
You can see it from here (unless they didn't race yet): https://www.gran-turismo.com/gb/gtsport/sportmode/championship/860/rankings 👍

Whoa, hold it up. I didn't mean to put you down, there are times all of us have a great race. Nik's race at Le Mans turned out to be just that.

By the way @Zkippe , what do you mean by half true evidence?

I did but have never raced these races, it's just hard to race at the required times. I'm also no alien and now I'm having to learn to drive properly without the CSA and I probably wasn't in position to race clean yesterday as consistent good (for me) laps were not happening, I need lots more practice.

If CSA was still allowed I could have raced but it is quite right that it's not allowed.

Well I was able to participate in both races yesterday and have signed up for Nissan for the Manufacturer Series.

I must admit I liked the overall feeling of taking part yesterday and I loved the little OP presentations
to start the races off while it loads everything, a nice touch.

Nations Cup Race:

I only learnt they had turned off CSA in the races after I started at Circuit De La Sarthe but I do like that
change as it will help me get better at driving in the classes.

I managed to get a 4th place in qualifying and it started out well for the first lap and I got close to
challenging 2nd/3rd but then I put a wheel on the grass going out of the final long straight leading to the
sharp 90% right hander and the game spun the car 360 and I ploughed in the wall.

By the time I got turned round and recovered I was in 18th (not last at least) and I managed to
fuel map it to the end of the race but 18th was the best I could do.

Final result is 795 in Domestic Rank and Regional Rank is 5541 and 4th for Dundee.

Manufacturers Cup:

The Manufacturers Cup however is a completely different story and I must admit I am pretty pleased.

Qualifying was utter rubbish, I got 11th thanks to being with a few that seemed to object to being
passed by other cars so I got rammed off track and had to make the best of it.

Lap 1 at Suzuka turned out to be complete chaos! The final straight of 130R it seemed nobody
was ready to brake so as I went through the chicane at the end of the lap I got promoted up
to 4th place.

Having the GT-R on TC 2 and no CSA meant it was pretty unhappy on the curbs so I went off
quite a lot but after all the pit strategies played out I got up to 2nd but then had to settle for
4th due to a slight off on the very last lap before 130R.

So I'm 250th for Nissan and 2313 in the Regional Ranking and 1st for my city Dundee 👍

But it sounded like you wanted to provoke us all ;)

Wasn't intended. I just wanted to compare the results and share it with you all. I'm actually quite amazed at how Zkippe progressed through the field to finish second, that was a pretty good strategy he had.

EDIT: I will keep quiet now until after the next batch races on Saturday. I didn't want to provoke anyone, sorry.

Second place on the Le Mans grid yesterday , my PS4 enter in rest mode 2 seconds before the start :( The porsche was great , too bad.
For the manufacturer i've chosen Aston without previous test knowing very well this car from others cups , a solid reputation of safety and speed.
Start th ofe race , suzuka is my favorite track since GT5P , my car was all over the place , showing a huge understeer in dunlop curve with a porsche in front of me going away clearly at this exact place with a good steady eagerness. The car was horrible to drive and i've made severals mistakes trying to increase my path. Horrible race for me.
Today , i've race the Gr3 Audi , in my opinion one of the worst GR3 car and for my big surprise the car was steady , fast and pleasant to drive......

It seems that some cars have a different behaviors after the manutention, i don't think it's just a sensation.

If you still don't have car for the manufacturer cup yet , it would be good to spend some time first doing some test. Just my 2 cents.

Maybe it was a bit of mis-wording on my part but I mainly mean how you basically said "look how easily Nik beat these EU (and US) drivers who should be the best of the best since they wen to a live event" while not mentioning the day's other race which was difficult for him. Maybe cherry picking would be a better wording?

Thank you, that was my plan all along after I noticed no-stopper was possible and I did a few race sims before the actual race to confirm the strategy.

No no, you shouldn't go all quiet. This is a discussion board after all. I just want you to understand that unless you specifically want to stir the pot you might want to consider how you word your messages and think a bit what effect they might have on people.

Were you driving in the Porsche's slipstream by chance? I've noticed it has a big effect on downforce and you'll understeer much more than in clean air. Other than that it can then just go down to different characteristics between the cars
