For EMEA Nations you had all these extra accounts in the lobby for recording/commentary (usually it's just GT-BROADCAST or GT-LIVE)

I haven't heard any official confirmation that Asia and America would also get their races commentated on (you'd assume so if EMEA does), so I wonder whether the issues tonight are to do with overloading the lobbies? Doesn't quite explain why Manufacturers was affected rather than Nations, but I'm sure it's being looked into
I joined Manufactures cup at 9:10 PM (CEST) (top split) and got disconnected in the same way as top24, and the final lobby of the day, so would be weird if that was the issue.

Edit: 3rd split of the last timeslot also froze/disconnected everyone.

Also plausible but there's 4 less people in the last slot and it can't lag one out but not the other. Were these spectators even in the last slot?

Ugh.

I threw away a possible podium finish in Manufacturers, I qualified 9th and made my way up the field in the early race chaos. Once things settled I was sitting with a group of three fighting for P5-3 up until lap 6, where I messed up the bus stop, and then the final corner. Decided to pit on a whim, and then accidentally cut off the refuel a little too early, forcing myself into conservation mode for the second half of the race. I caught up a little, but me being distracted by fuel led to more mistakes and a spin, and I finished 13th.

Really sucks 'cuz I was hitting a nice groove in the first half, had I not screwed up I'd probably have been battling the same two people for P5-3 all the way to the finish.

You know I was thinking the same, although I hadn't heard of an official stream in the works. I figured they were testing out something new and it failed miserably...
So now the question is whether or not PD will acknowledge the issue and if so, how are they going to fix this? If this were the final season it would have been an absolute trainwreck 👎

EDIT

xD
Thank you for that much needed bit of laughter sir. I know this sucks, but we gotta admit it's so bad that it's hilarious. I literally hit the floor laughing on the second disconnect lol
I was all but certain this was going to happen and so I was ready for it. It also helped that I had a good Nations race and a mock race with one of my fellow Jaguar drivers.

If that's the cause, I would've thought something like this would've been tested out extensively during preseason as to avoid something like this happening when the races actually matter. Regardless, I can't see how they can stay silent on this.
I give this short film 4 stars!

It jumped right into intense anticipation, quickly seeing all the Aliens on screen, hearing that music that gets our hearts pumping, and then Boom, Disaster! Then after I expected it to be over, the plot thickens with the surprise narrator. No gratuitous violence or profanity required, just pure sarcasm. Not only that, but through the sarcasm, we can all experience the pain, the disappointment, and the disgust.

Seriously though, that sucks.
It is disappointing but I try to poke fun at it to relieve some of the tension out there. Took some effort not to bust out laughing when it disconnected.

I picked a non meta car again but this time i couldnt do much. Wouldve been 10th if not for this absolute joke of a penalty on the start.

And manufacturers i was really looking forward to it. Car was great for both qualify and race, but the race didnt happen. It was a massive wasted opportunity for big points for me.

I was mad at first but knowing it happened to everyone one in the room made it a little better. It sucks that I planned my day around this.

I was in the top 24 room but am not the fastest Ford driver by far... @Sharkart_Kun to name one. So I was very excited although I knew I had little chance to even finish in the top half but man I was pumped just to see what I could do (even had the wife watching who could care less). Hopefully I can get to this point again because for someone like me these chances won't come that often.

Jumped in the last slot for manufacturers (Was busy all day only slot I was able to enter) The whole lobby apparently froze and DC smh... I thought this problem was already solved..

Well, I been tought how it feels to finish last in the nations SS race. At least I was 22 in qualy of 23.. I fought for 22nd positions but I messed up and went into the gravel and lost 10 seconds. Also I am not the fastest in Argentina game, stop lying to me.

After that I qualified 2nd in manufacturers. Weird feeling being in last and then inmidiatly in the front. 5 persons droped out before qualy. Really PD:mad:. That's 25% of the players!!!

Very tough race traded positions with 1st and 3rd a few times. Came out of the pits 1st the guy in front in a lambo was overeving the car and used a ton of fuel. Still the battle continued between 3 cars until the other guy messed the bus stop and I pulled a 2 second gap with 2 laps to go.

First Fia win :) but I got 1673 points instead of the 1883 shown here.

Strange being first and last in the same round:lol:.

Hopefully the Top 24 Nations Cup EMEA didn't crash, the race was very interesting. I took the SRT Tomahawk, not the best car for qualy but strong pace in race. The problem is that the car is slow on straights, very hard to defend or overtake. Some bad mistakes but for me it's a great result and put on the Top 5 ranking in the Nations Cup, which is incredible. Wish it was the final season

Here is the video, sorry I was too busy to edit it, but enjoy :p

Also, congrats to @mthomas_95 , his pace was awesome, no way to catch him he clearly dominated the race 👍

Dragon trail does seem to bring out the interesting passing moves, I think it is just the layout of fast straights and then hairpins/90 degree corners, so people seem to think they can overtake when they are half a second behind. Penalty system worked ok for me, with the 1 guy who punted me off the track getting a penalty for it. Unfortunately it dropped me back into a pack so I got a few gentle nudges before I managed to escape, so I never caught the offender.

I was surprised by how good the Scirocco was considering its lack of speed down the straights, had a nice tussle with a Subaru at the end of the race.

Nations was interesting, with a lot of different cars pretty even (I chose the 919 but was a very mixed field). I qualified 15th in my race but was only 1.5 off the best and had pace to spare. Unfortunately I didn't take into account a cone of doom that bunny hopped my car off the track at the banked hairpin.

By the time I got back on track I was 23 seconds behind the leader, and dead last. Managed to fight my way back through the pack to 12th, but my pace would have probably gotten me a top 5 otherwise so was a little bit dissapointed, but I did like that the gr1 cars seemed reasonably balanced on this track.

Thanks to @mthomas_95, @sundaydriving and @Crazy Taylor for the car suggestions, you were very helpful :)

Did both races last night, luckily got away without any disconnects

Firstly did Manufacturers, qualified P7 but could've been better - was purple going into the last sector but ran out of time in the end.
Start was relatively calm but lost a couple of positions at the bus stop cos the guy ahead made a mistake. Was around P8 at the end of the stint, pitted on lap 7 and came out in 6th. Was slowly closing in on the cars ahead but made a mistake at T1 on lap 11 which cost me 2 positions and then on the last 2 laps, hit the bus stop both times :/
In the end it was P7 after penalties.

Did the last Nations race of the day. Went with the Bugatti as that was what I was most comfortable with. Qualifying wasn't too great, was on a decent lap at the end but messed up and so started P10. Took a wide line through T1 to avoid others but still got hit and that was me in last. At that point I decided to put the fuel mix into 2 and do a no stop. It was sort of working, was upto 5th after all the pitstops but tyres were gone at the end and I also made a mistake in the last sector which cost me about 7s. So in the end it was P11.

A day of what might have been

Points halfway through the season, Manufacturers much better than Nations:

Was in Manufacturers with @DriftMethod and a few other GTPers. Absolute garbage qualifying left me last at the start. 3 other WRXes in the race so my goal was just to beat them. Drove from 20th to 13th before the pit stop, past all of the Subarus, and only one of those spots was due to someone crashing. Ended up in 11th on the last lap and got 9th at the finish due to 2 penalties in front of me. Was car #12 so was surprised at that and got 1200 points or something.

Nations was bittersweet. Used the 919 for the great Porsche vs Bugatti vs Audi showdown. Was car #17 so wasn’t expecting much. But qualified 6th! And that was after making some mistakes on my lap. There were some aliens in the room (2400 point room I think) so I was shocked. Race started, I got 5th and was keeping the leaders in range, had high hopes, but then touched the grass and spun out on the last corner of the 1st lap, distant last place. So I just drove angry the rest of the race. Encountered AMS_Redline, who literally takes someone out or gets into a fight with multiple players every race (on Wednesday at Monza I literally watched him push 4 people into the gravel while I was driving behind him), so I just pushed him off since I was 2 seconds faster than him and had no time for his crap. Same as in NASCAR when people move Ricky Stenhouse or Ryan Newman out of the way since they know they’re a PITA to race with. Of course I pit and who do I get stuck behind again, but him, who apparently was trying a no pit strategy. He made things hard for me which I understand, but what pushed me over the edge was getting a 10 second penalty for the slightest of contact while racing him (which seemed to be a common theme for everyone last night) then I got spun out due to his car being an immovable wall at another point, like it wouldn’t budge. So I was distant last again so quit the race, since didn’t have any chance of improving my position.

Probably would’ve gotten midpack if I didn’t spin the first time in that race. The car was hilariously fast for 2 laps but then tires fell off a cliff.

not sure what happen with yesterday, all car in GR.1 I tried feel so understeer and Corvette GR.4 too almost can't turning around and no grip at all feel really weird, almost get last because in both race because of that.

Tag Heuer your clock was broken
Then another problem appear, what happen if you totally off pace and actually start last than get time bug? It was hell. Really-really hell driving without any grip or thing. Good thing I still get good point to stay on Top 10 Indonesia and top 20 Chevy.

About bug I suspect that come when I pitting in qualify and sudden get that weird time, then I out qualify with that time cause somebody-spin-and-hit-me-and-I-get-usual-5-seconds.

Had a lot of fun in the Manufacturers race. Always nice to see GTPers!

With about 3 laps to go, I was in a comfortable 8th place with a bit of a gap behind me. So do I drive smart and bring it home for some decent points? Of course not, full throttle through the bus stop and crashed. Car damaged, so I lose about10 places. Oh well, at least I got to race!

Top 24 Superstars Nations race last night. Nico destroyed the field. I was worried about a bottleneck at T1 because there's always one so I took a somewhat defensive line. I ended up right in the bottleneck zone but I somehow survived by a thin margin. Pace was close to practice although I had more trouble with understeer than anticipated. I didn't fight Turismo after the pit stop thinking he could help me catch back up to McQueen. In a way, it did work but I also couldn't get past him. Still a great result in a tough room.

Not a word from PD since the 24SS disaster yesterday i presume.

It's incredible that the people the would benefit more actually got the biggest damage. Havent even got the chance to do a regular FIA slot and got 0 points lmao.

Luckily this season doesnt matter much apart from getting ranking S again.

That's interesting. Could it be an a error? Which was the first position that awarded points? Looks like if you're not up to speed with the aliens it would be better to avoid SS races even if you have an outside chance of getting in one.

Hey ! It was me the Subaru Guy :D
Nice battle last laps bro ! it's a shame i have that 0.985s penalty and you finished ahead of me on the line :(

In every race last place recieves 0 points. All the other positions recieve some. I knew point wise it wasn't a sound option. But it was a chance to see the top aliens. Why not take it? I don't know if I will ever get another one. I knew strategicaly it was better for me to race outside of SS, less people in the other slots that could beat me. Also, I've played sport mode for a month or two. I was quite amazed I was able to get in.

I uploaded my manufacturers race. Yeah, I look back a lot! Took 4 hours to upload . Crappy internet.

Evening you lot!
What's your take on my 10sec pen in this race? I've heard a lot of people complaining about these 10 sec penalties, but I actually think as innocuous as this was, it's deserved.
But I'd love your take on it, as I think it's a pretty good example. Cued up:

While I don't think it is worth 10 sec I do think it should be penalized. I also think more deliberate or harder rams should be given a heavier because depending where you are punted off you lose more than 10 secs.

Not worth 10 secs, but from the games perspective you hit a guy in the rear and he ended outside the track limits. Just unfortunate really as if he had managed to stay a couple of meters tighter you probably wouldn't have gotten anything.

PD will probably include a closing speed algorithm into the penalty system at some point (eg. > 2mph = 5secs, >5mph = 10 secs, etc), but it is very much a learning situation for them at the moment as no-one has ever really tried to do this before.
