So, that manufacturer top 24.... where to start ??
I think we could have been more polite to each other with @mthomas_95 at the start and at least open our windows to talk about the 13 other guys that were already miles away while our cars were just stopped side by side when the countdown to race start begun, my driver wakes up just before the race start to give me a 15 km/h start and mthomas flying by so already dropped a position  then race happens, nothing special happens, had a run on @Tidgney's dead-tyres pug that made me laugh hard when he came back to the inside like if he was shouting "I WANT TO FIIIIIGHT" and then the next corner he wasn't there anymore and pitted at the end of the lap that was fun  and then I was catching mthomas for the last 2 laps but i got punted wide in the banking my a Renault who appeared to be one of my teammate and ended up 15 instead of 13

So now let me give you my thought about the gr4 and manufacturer's championship, as i got an idea and i would be pleased if you guys have a debate on it.

Basically, EVERY driver who races top split already knows when starting a gr4 race where he can finish just looking at wich car he is competing against, so that's bad, because gr.4 is unbalancable, that's where i started thinking of something that might be a good idea (or not at all feel free to say the least if you think that's it ).

Why don't we only use gr.3 for the official FIA / GT championship (as some of you already said here) but we have to keep gr.4 implied in a way or another, so my idea would be, why don't PD use them as a "promotion series" to determine wich drivers will represent a brand in the official champ, now i'll give you an example

Let's say that there are 20 spots for each brand in the official FIA / GT championship, for example i'll take Lexus (some of you knows i'm only "good" at driving Lexus ) The 20 guys who take top 20 in Lexus brand only in the last championship before the "New promotion series" are put in place are in to run the official next FIA / GT championship series, but aside of it, there will be a gr4 championship where all gr4 can compete. Then at the end of th championship, the 10 best scorer for Lexus in the official champ all stays there, the 10 last are being send to the prom series, and the 10 best scorer for Lexus are replacing them in the official champ.

DON'T HIT ME BECAUSE THIS IS BAD I STILL HAVE SOME TO SAY

In that way, "top drivers" will be put away from guys who are fast but not enough to stay in top split at each race, and drivers who are not really fast can have a championship ranking where (there are 25 manufacturers so 25*20 (20 might be too much as i think of it)) 500 drivers will be put away so they will earn spots in their own championship rankings, and there is this "thing to achieve" taht is to one day compete in the official champ for your chosen brand

YOU WILL SAY: AND WHAT IF I WANT TO CHANGE THE MANUFACTURER I'M RUNNING FOR ?

Well, it's quite simple, you quit your current manufacturer, you do one season in the prom series and try to get to 10 for your new manufacturer, and gets promoted 👍

Now tell me what you guys are thinking of it and let's discuss it if you want :)
(Oh and last thing, sorry for my english that may not be really good everytime)

so my evening yesterday was definitely an evening of two halves

first up was the Manufacturers race in the Cayman, which I've been liking a lot recently and i usually go ok round Maggiore, so was hoping for a decent result. was doing low 2:08s in practice which isn't terrible, and ended up putting it on pole by about half a second, a whole second ahead of 3rd. result.

race itself was fairly incident free - got off the line fine, led all of lap 1 before getting a bit of a divebomb into T1 from a Lexus in 2nd and then a lap later similar from a Ferrari in 3rd (pretty sure they cut the corner too). took 2nd back a few laps later in the banked hairpin but didn't have the pace to make up the 4 second gap on 1st, so ended up finishing 2nd. slightly disappointed to not convert the pole, but 2nd is still very good, around 500 points so decent by my standards.

Nations was a shambles start to finish. i've barely driven Bathurst on this game, did a bit on Project Cars and was useless on that, so in practice i was barely able to get down into the 2:09s. qualified 17th, and my plan was to drive solidly and make up places when people fell off the track and got penalties, as well as trying a no stop strategy. this was going OK until lap 3, got up to 14th, until i forgot to brake for the chicane near the end and absolutely murdered the guy in front (tried to go up the inside to avoid but didn't work), and was last by miles after that and serving the inevitable penalty that followed. and i stayed last til the end, ended up running out of fuel because i misjudged that as well to top off a rubbish race. 99 points, which doesn't beat any of my previous 5 results unsurprisingly, so literally a waste of time!

Video time!

First up is Nations where my inability to drive the META forced me to drive the Jag. It didn't end well mainly because I started so far back. My pace was okay but I literally could not go anywhere the first few laps.

And the Top 24 "Superstars" race that was really the last slot of the night. Aggression level was through the roof and the Jag was as nimble as an aircraft carrier. Help!

Be warned, one of the most common places where offs happem at Big Willow gives a delayed time penalty for doing so.

Unbelievable! PD created a different sport with these penalties. This is not racing and makes no sense. It's as if in football (soccer), someone decided you'd score two goals by hitting the post, or lose one by stepping outside the field.

Watching FT_NicoR, alien among the aliens, someone who can control his car with extreme precision, do the exact same "mistakes" I did yesterday is further proof of the bs of those invisible limits. Felt sorry for him. His opponent, IOF, was probably driving very carefully and not on his limit too, but the winner was decided by an element that doesn't exist in racing. (race starts around 1:35:00).

I think he knew that he was going to get a penalty the moment his outer wheels touched the kerbs. He shook his head before the penalty showed up; shows he knows where the track limits are

My nations race. Nothing better else to say it was a complete disaster for me and everyone else around me, I had great race pace with the merc but nothing to show for it. Apologize to @GumballCGT and @Windfire1010 and everyone else that was around my internet carnage. First time this has happened and of course it was in an high class race. It gets spicey at 43:20 in the video where it all went down

He kept receiving penalties as they race went on. Sometimes he suspected he'd get one, but others were a surprise. We know there're penalties somewhere in the curbs with pixel-size limits, but it's something that only a computer can see and not the human eye. Of course, you can play it safe, be more prudent and slow, but that's not real racing. You should be trying to use the limits of the track and stability of the car.

I literally only had 5 laps of practice for manufacturers, and something came up as I entered, meaning I had to miss quali and I only just made it for the start of the race. At first I was trying to overtake my way through the field but my pace wasn't exactly great and so I decided to just hold back, save some fuel and gain positions in the pitstops. Was around P12 once all the pitstops had happened had some nice battles in the second stint but in the end it was only P14 after penalties. Not the best result but it was a fun race.

Edit: With my start (4:00 on the video) I sort of did what Tidgney did as in not going all out in the braking zone though I was lucky the driver in front saw me coming and left room so kudos to him[/QUOTE]

I was in the same race as you (Manufacturers), apologies for the bump near the end of the race.

Have to say the track limits here are strict as hell.

So I did both races last night, though I didn't have much practice for either

First did Nations, qualified P7, was struggling with T3 through quali, and the lap wasn't the greatest so was relatively happy with it. Chose the Lexus for this one to try the no stop, though I wasn't sure if I could actually pull it off as I hadn't done any fuel practice. Managed to just keep out of trouble for the race, probably could've fought harder at some points but managed to get P2. And in the end I probably saved too much fuel

Was bloody good fun to race cars flat out for a change. Although I realise it wasn't fun for everyone being in the PUG train (Well Jimmy has now called it the Tidgney Train). But hey, that whole race was a bit chaotic, start still has me in stitches!

Don't worry about it, it actually sort of helped me get around the corner
Track limits are quite strict but at least they aren't ridiculously lenient around there like they normally are.

Last night I was put into the highest ranked lobbies I have been in yet in FIA and had lofty expectations for the level of racing I would see. Huge mistake, worst race craft and etiquette I have ever seen in my life. If someone got to within one second of my bumper they were diving deep every turn every lap. Was no paint left on my rear bumper. That's ok they will get penalized right? Wrong, they know how to put the penalty on you while they rammed their way past. These people are just ridiculous.

I have reflected on last night a little bit and i have to conclude that mass market esports level sim racing is not achievable. There is no way to make the computer stewards intelligent enough to judge fault in the demo derby style races the FIA creates. The only way it works is with live stewards and/or post race penalties upon further review. The top splits including T24 races should have live stewards already to make sure the right people are being rewarded for the right behavior. I fear after this season this is probably it for the FIA and gran turismo. I dont see them dedicating the resources to do it properly.

The entire lobby got disconnected from Top 24 Manufacturers.
We all got disconnected from the top 24 Manufacturer. Then my entire lobby all got disconnected in the Manufacturer race after that as well. Wasted a good 4 hours of my time last night. They need to really sort things out on the server end. Stuff like this just shouldn't be happening.

VoDs are up as well, forgot to post earlier on;

Nations Cup:

Manufacturers Cup:

Highly recommend watching the manufacturers VoD for the funky ass start, some clean and crazy racing and just for a good old laugh :).

My experience in the higher-ranked lobbies has been pretty much the same, most of the time. I have had a few really great, clean races with some of the fastest guys, but more often than not I qualify in the bottom 10 of these top-split lobbies and get pushed around by all the desperation drivers back there. I try to drive the same as I do in Dailies but the environment around me is nothing like the Dailies, where I usually have clean races with good sportsmanship. These aliens (some of them) have taken divebombing to a whole new level and have perfected it to the point of not getting penalized even though they clearly stole that spot with terrible sportsmanship. Outbraking seems to be the preferred method of passing, regardless of the damage done.

It creates a race where you almost have to drive as aggressively as them in order to not get last place, which is bad for everyone. It's to the point where I still want to do the FIA races but am dreading the inevitable every time. I keep coming back because every now and then, I have a great performance and people seem to race clean around me, but I know somewhere else in that same race people are desperately ramming and squeezing each other off the track just to gain one spot in the first couple laps, only for them to probably crash later or get revenge punted. Oh the irony.

In spite of your two disconnects, you were still not credited with having raced at all, since you have a dash (-) instead of a zero for round six. So if there was another slot you would have been able to race.

I was kicked out during the outlap in qualy in the 1st Americas Region timeslot and when the race was finished I was awarded 0 points and got the DR hit.

So it must have to do with the entire lobby getting disconnected. In that case the race results are never confirmed so it's as if you didn't even participate. In my case, the race went on and once the results were confirmed I was counted as a participant and locked out of future timeslots.

^This. Always check your points after a disconnect; a dash (---) would mean you're still eligible for the next time slot. I've had a friend happen something similar to this and he was able to join
All I can say is this Nations race with the F1 cars is going to be a sight to see
Also this

That’s the problem with the T24 being the 2nd last slot, you only have one more slot after that and it seems like it DCs more often than not as well.

I guess it was easier to do with the Lexus, anyway no-stopping was clearly the only competitive strategy. I nearly caught you at the finish line, not by about half a second.

As I mentioned in the post-race chat, your internet connection to the server was very bad, which was making it difficult for others racing around you. I don't remember if it was specifically you, but at least one car with a single red bar connection was wildly jumping around the track in about one second intervals. Basically impossible for others to pass or race side-by-side like that without getting involved in an incident, especially on a narrow track like Bathurst.

Note that I'm just saying this FYI in general. I have mostly nobody but myself to blame for my rather disappointing result (though at least not quite as bad as the previous round) yesterday. Although it started with spinning out after contact in the first corner of the second(?) lap, let's say diplomatically that although I meant to leave space for the car on the inside, maybe I didn't manage to leave enough. Anyway, that left me 19th and last, and I lost hope at that point. Spun out again later, due to pushing too hard and running wide through the last corner. Finally, due to my thoughts wandering off during the long downhill straight, missed the braking point and went into the gravel. :banghead:

Moral of the story: Never give up! If I had just continued normally after the first spin, and avoided at least one of the additional mistakes, I probably had a good shot at finishing around top 10 at least.

I'm sorry if I damaged your race. I was aware of the problem but I couldn't leave the race because GT Sport don't allow you to compete later in the same race if you quit, so I had to finish the race.

No worries. Can't really do anything about the internet.

Next Nations Race: An F1 diva that's been proven both irl and in game is really hard to drive + a highly technical circuit with little to no room for error

Next Manu Race: Big Willow- the track that would send you to an oasis 5 kilometers from the tarmac

This is going to be fun

This round I was barely racing.
It was more like a challenge to avoid penalties while understeering alot.
On the bright side, I outscored last Tokyo race and no blue screen 👍.
(SDFortesque, cheers for the good luck wishes before the start)

Bonus :ouch:

So for Nations, it's a difficult combination that all the top guys will skip which means poor points regardless. Manufacturers is at a track that is one of my worst and I'm supposed to keep the Fat Cat from understeering right into the dirt and getting tapped and divebombed to death by everyone.

Is there any sane reason for me to even attempt this round?
