Here´s my Nations Cup Race on Dragon Trail from yesterday.
After I killed all my qualifying laps in the "Chicane of Death", this race got an unintended "Starting Last Challenge" in a +2800 points lobby for me. :O
Fortunately I did the chicane better during the race and several opponents started to struggle there.
All in all a super intense race with great and close fights and an acceptable result in the end.

What Gr.3 car(s) do you think would be recommendable for the next Nations Cup race at Bathurst? And what would you suggest for the brake balance/TCS/ABS for the respective recommendation(s)?

Tested the GR4 evo at Alsace for the manufacturers race on Saturday.

In time trial, it easily achieves laptimes under 2 minutes, but I won’t be racing, as soft tyres were only good for 1 lap, mediums 2 laps! That isn’t much fun lol #facepalm

Those are all questions fairly relative to your driving style.

Bathhurst is well suited to Gr3 with lots of power and good top end speed because of the 2 long straights. Gt40. Mustang, Viper, there was a Lexus in the top 10 this morning. But really it's best to try a few laps in several different cars and choose whichever you were quickest, but most importantly the most stable and consistent.

Brake balance depends on how you drive, if you like to finish braking before turning in go with brakes to the front. If you trail brake then go with brakes to the rear. Once you find your best, consistent time in practice, start playing with what level it set at to see if your time improves.

TCS depends how comfortable you are coming out of turns in the powerful FR/MR Gr3 cars. 0 will allow you to push the car to it's absolute limit and open the possibility of getting better times, but you run the risk of spinning out, making all those 10ths gained, easily lost. For me I keep it at 1 in gr3 on bathurst. I was only able to gain a few 10ths a lap with TCS at 0, but every other lap I'd whip my back end and lose a few seconds so it doesn't work for me yet. At TCS 1 you could still spin out but only if you make a major error, at TCS 2 it should be extremely hard to spin out on just pavement, anything over 2 I find is just overkill and unnecessary and will lower your lap times.

I can't say anything about ABS, I never played with it.

I thought it had to do with where the engine sits in the car. E.g. for an MR or RR car, brake balance is better towards the front since the weight is gonna be shifting there under braking. I can't recall the logic of moving brake power to the rear in FR cars, though - but that's what I also recall hearing...

I think that's also true, and could have to do with why some cars are fast with it set at 4 and others with it set to 1 ect.

The way I always just looked at it was, Front=shorter stopping distance, less control braking through turns Rear=greater stopping distance, easier to brake while turning.

I might actually be wrong about trail braking, I was just reading up on it and according to Wikipedia(lol) it says to have a bias to the front brakes.....hmm I though you wanted your rear wheels doing most of the stopping so you can still control your front wheels through the turn.

There is a thread on it here: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/brake-balance.372919/

My thought is I think GT Sport +5 to -5 default 0 is a bit confusing. 0 could be a 60-40 front bias and put 5 to the rear brakes may only change the brake balance to 55-45 to the front, we don't know exactly what those value mean, just whatever works for us.

I just don't understand the North American time slots. 6:00 pm local time being the last slot available for people on the US West Coast is too early.

the old time slots were much better. not sure why they chose to go back.

Yes, it’s truly ridiculous, and I’m a Floridian; I can’t imagine being on the West Coast.

We have the same issue here in Australia
I think the slots are great. As ive mentioned earlier I work nights/early mornings midnight starts, so the 8/9/10 pm slots dont work. At least these ones with the 5pm qld start I can have a lash.

you have to agree that your schedule is in the minority though...

For sure, but there are many super fast people(not me) who dont get to do the fia stuff at all because of their schedule so although 5 is early, why not have a lunch time race as well as the normal 3 if people still want the 8/9/10 slots

Decided to give the Porsche 996 a go in the Nations, but didn't really have much confidence and pace but had some decent battles anyway.

Entered manufacturers but my internet cut out on my out lap and so I disconnected. Didn't have a chance to enter again after that.

Yeah, I guess I have no chance at making any of these races. I grabbed supper after work and after getting home quickly jumped on the PS4 to get the Wednesday race in and seen that they were all over. I guess if you have any life at all you can't join these races, I guess we all have to become youtube streamers for a living to join the FIA races.

There's a pretty big difference between "youtube streamer for a living" and free anytime between 5 and 9 EST.

so between 3-7 my time... work until 5-5:30, drive home, cook supper, clean up and sit down to race... oh ****, no races anymore.

It obviously won’t work perfectly for every region in NA, there are 5hr diffence between east coast and west coast. It seems as if they have based their start times for someone directly in the middle of NA, which is entirely normal. For someone like me on the east coast, the last slot is at Midnight, for someone on the West coast, the last start will be at 7pm... It’s not like PD can magically change all North America’s time zones to please everyone... all and all, every time zone gets at least 2 possible starts after normal business hours, which is not so bad.

There is only a 3 hour difference between East and West in NA (3.5 if you add in the Maritimes). They could easily have them from 5-11 EST and that would be 3-9 PST. Why have a limit on the amount of races? That would be like only offering 3 different "daily" races each week... oh wait.

Why have a limit on the amount of races?

Because if we have 10 different races these forums will be filled with people bitching how the rooms aren't full or DR:C drivers stuck racing against the aliens etc. That's why there are only 3 races in Australia now instead of 5.

Unfortunately if you really want to race you may have to plan your diner around racing then, get a frozen pizza or something to quickly eat afterwards. The scheduled races can be a bit of a pain, especially in the summer(it's easier to hibernate in the winter)

I play softball on Wednesday nights in the summer and god forbid I might want to leave the house on a Saturday night. I thought why can't they switch the schedule up so it always lands on a different day, like always have 2 days between races or something so it goes wed/sat then tue/fri then mon/thu etc. But then instead of committing to 2 nights a week you kinda always have to have your schedule open if you want to compete regularly instead of just saying, weds and sat night are video games nights, don't bug me.

it does suck for you guys on the west coast that they moved all slot back an hour though. Hopefully they change that.

I think I have a crack at topping the points for Dodge, but won't be winning any races with the Gr4 Viper. Stable, but slow.

Wasn't a fabulous event. Alsace could be more, but it's still a lacking venue, in my opinion.

Still don't understand why folks at the back don't work together. Why fight, when you can maintain pace and keep within reach of the mid-pack.

Started in RM. Didn't mean much after seeing the leaders were on RS at the start. Pit end of lap 3 for RS. Pitted end of lap 6 for RS again. Mustang felt slow for some reason.

Got the w in the 5pm race...without being a big man on campus it wasnt the strongest field. Picked up a measly 210pts. Maybe the fasties were doing alsace or watching the 12hr shootout? Ill take it though

Yeah, it's just not right. Seeing if I get booted from the Manu race.

Edit: Yep. Just got booted.

Restarting the system now. If I get booted at 10pm, it'll be a wasted 3.5 hours.
