Pretty sure this race is gonna be a 2 stop all on mediums. The pit time at Brands Hatch is so short that you lose very minimal time. Pretty sure that the overall pit time for 2 stops is still faster than a single stop at Nurburgring GP, so there's no reason not to take advantage of being on mediums all race. As far as I remember from lap times on hards from forever ago, you really only drop to hard pace by the very end of your stint, and every lap before that is much quicker.

I had a great race and managed to get the Jag into 4th for 1454pts. Witnessed some absolute chaos though.

Ironically I state an objective for the race before it starts and it fails.

Seeing your video it just proved the problem that right now almost every Dualshock user has had in this Season :( I'm a Jaguar boi too, but my Medium just were dead after 4 laps  I was in complete understeer all the time at the Nurb  But you, on wheel, had no problem whatsoever for 6 laps  The difference is real :nervous:

I made my test at Brands Hatch and it's basically the same thing, yet more tollerable :irked:

I think when it's time for real thing PD should lower the tyre wear multiplier, maybe the same of the daily races

Do you have to use both compounds in the race? Or is that just a potential strategy choice?

Strategy choice, whilst wear isn't so much of an issue I am quite heavy on the throttle/brakes so I find switching compounds is
an easier option for me.

Okay, that was unexpected but I am confused?

Is that a typo and the mean from tomorrow or from Saturday?

Thanks! That's good in that I thought I'd miss Saturday but now I can take part.

Oh dear, that schedule change made me miss the 5 Timeslots for both races format. Now, I basically have to do Nations first before the Manufacturers...

Oceania had 3 timeslots on beginning of this season and Central/South America had three from Round 5 (Feb. 13).
I think PD should change the number of timeslots on all five regions before beginning of this season.

Looks good to me. Stops people just doing 5 manufacturer races in a row and ignoring the nations race.
Also 3 races seems a bit fairer on people who aren't able to spend hours doing the same race over and over again, and increases the jeopardy on having a potential bad final race of a session. And still allows people who have a bad race to have another go. Good change in my opinion 👍

Yeah I completely agree. I'm only able to fit in a single Manufacturers race on a Wednesday (the 21:10 slot). With the change it's possible I can give Nations a proper go too with Nations at 21:00 and Manufactures at 22:00.

This seems a good change from my perspective.

I'm on board with @watto79 and @Lost Sheltie, since I've only been able to do two slots no matter if it's Wednesday or Saturday. It didn't seem fair that others with more flexible schedules could grind away at races until they got the result they wanted and I only got 1 shot since I'm doing both Nations and Manufacturer's.

PD has a tough job of making everyone happy, but also making the championships fair and this is a very welcome change in my opinion.

There is a difference between pad and wheel for sure. That said I took extra care in this race in particular to rotate the car with throttle control and take load off the front left in particular. If you watch carefully the first 3 laps of each stint I actually wear the front right more than the front left which I feel is quite the accomplishment.

Calster was suggesting running the car with +5 BB but I find it affects the braking distance too much. The Gr4 Jag is a funny car, it actually makes it faster to intentionally oversteer on exit and control it because you can then afford to use more front tire for braking.

The same can probably said for Gr3 but I find it too difficult to control that driving style consistently.

:(
Wondering about West coast US. Do you guys have to take Wednesdays off to make these races? I'm in Central time and already, with Houston traffic, cooking and other family stuff, there is only time for one race on Wednesdays, two of I push things but it has to be Nations then Manufa turners.
How does the west coast manage? So, how hoes anyone in Hawaii have time for this (assuming a normal daytime job)

I don't mind, I guess.

My time slots are:

Nations: 4PM 6PM 8PM
Manu: 5PM 7PM 9PM

I typically pretty flexible and am often free. I am a big hockey fan though so when I have free time I also really like watching. Games usually start at 6pm my time, so on Wednesday I usually only get the 5pm time slot to race in and Saturday I'll do the 4pm and 5pm if the 4pm goes poorly.

I typically only race in one of the Championships and have been focusing on Nations the past while since it seemed last year manu was just kind of a side show when it came to the live events and such(not like I'll ever be invited to one). I guess this change will force my hand to start doing the Manufacturers instead. Either that or I'll have to miss the first hour of a hockey game on Wednesday, boo hoo right? First world problems I guess. I'll live :)

Thankfully, I get off work early enough to make the last two slots on Wednesdays. Now I can only do one Nations but can do Manufacturers twice. I do know others in the West Coast struggle to make it on Wednesdays but that's par for the course with how so many things are catered to the East Coast.

Very interesting; thank you very much :)

BTW @Dodge Lamb actually had a good point; maybe it's the right strategy for someone like me 💡

It's not a pad exclusivity. My tyre wear was much higher than vvise's, but my pace was also much faster, so it makes sense that I wear more.

Pad players suffers even more though, that's a fact.

Didn't know about DS4 wearing tire more than wheel, but makes sense. My tires tend to wear much faster than others I've seen using the same car but wheel. I try to be gentle with tires, but the only way for me to keep up with the others is to use hard tires instead of medium for the first stint.

Does anyone know why tear wire is different? Does the game give "tear wear bonuses" for a wheel or is it because people drive harder on the controller? You can still drive pretty gently on a controller.

It comes down to the nature of how the controller drives. You don't have direct input on the thumbstick like you do the wheel (I have no idea about motion control but those guys are just strange), so the game smooths out movement as much as possible by slowing down the time it takes to go between full steering lock and neutral. That means you're spending a lot more time in full lock than people on wheel (You'll notice the difference between a pad and a wheel looking at replays, you'll notice a lot more fine steering input from a wheel that tends to move around more, whilst the pad will slowly move to full lock, slowly move back etc.)

Never paid attention to this difference until you mentioned it, but it does seem that the little red dot move more smooth on the controller, while on the wheel it will wiggle faster with more fine input and corrections in between.

Balancing tire wear across all cars and controller types must be impossible, so it would be better if PD stopped playing with extreme tire wear for the next season. Here's a lap in Suzuka & Gr3 using Dualshock for comparison:

Hey, let's talk about strategies for tomorrow's races. Sorry if this has already been discussed.

Nations Gr.4 @ Suzuka: no-stopper on hards or one-stopper on mediums?

MFG Gr.3 @ Brands: 2-stopper on mediums or one-stopper on hards?

Has anyone tested this?

More stops seem to be faster on both tracks but overtaking is a massive pain at Brands Hatch, and tough at Suzuka.

Safer race is the lesser or no stops, but the more stops is more fun. I will do one stop on hards at Brands, and 1 stop on mediums at Suzuka.

Thanks! I'm almost certain that a 2-stopper at Brands will be faster because of how short pit lane is, and tire compound really matters on that track. But you are right about traffic, however I think in the higher lobbies most will be keen to the 2-stop strategy. It's Suzuka that I'm concerned about, but I kind of think a no-stopper might be a bit faster but it probably depends on where you qualify. I'll be doing some testing myself tonight and tomorrow, just wondering if any of you crazy dedicated racers already have a plan.

If it can help give you an idea on tire wear, here is me chasing you for 7 laps (I could not for the love of me find a way around you) you can gauge my tire wear vs yours at the times and etc.
