Any info if we can change manufacturers after this next exhibition season? Would love to try Lambo, but I don’t want to be locked to it for the rest of the year..

For the first time since the release of GT Sport I invested some time to figure out this FIA Tournament and the only thing that keeps popping into my mind where on earth people find the time to really prepare themselves for this. I signed up for the manufacturer cup and I did see every wednesday and saturday from 19.00 up until 23.00. That is 8 hours of gaming time during one week without any preparation. I've got a fulltime job, kids, wife and a household to run. It is sheer impossible for me to participate correctly without severly neglecting my job, family, wife and kids.

Seems those tournaments are more for the youngsters then for middle aged men I'll will run a couple of qualifications but participating is simply a no go.

How do you other "middle-aged-family-men" think about this?

It's not as much of a time sink as you think. Beyond race day I try and find time to run a simulation race with the correct tyre wear and fuel consumption so I can plan a pit strategy, but sometimes I have to do this on the fly and make it up as I go!

Just jump in when you can and enjoy!

Thanks for your reply. When what you are saying is true, then it makes sense but looking at the FIA races, you'll need to participate in every race since you score points in every race as well. Those points are accumulated for the end results.

but I would have thought you would be locked into that manufacturer from then on. I can't race this Saturday, so will be interesting to see who has chosen what brand, and what is popular. Might allow me to keep my S rating in the long run if I can choose someone unpopular but half decent

Nature of the beast. To be competitive at the top end you either need the natural talent for it to jump in and race, or to put in the hours. Most of the guys racing at the top end have both.

Personally I just drive and race whenever I get the opportunity. I'll never have enough time to invest to get into the top 1% so just enjoy what you can put in.

It has been so long I've raced online (GT5P) and I just picked up PS+ on a reduction, signed my FIA contract and I will simply take part to see what it is all about. Never ever raced a single online race in GT Sport just yet.... Maybe picking up some casual online races on the way

You're in the right place. I have a blast competing in Manufacturers with a limited schedule like yours. Last year I finished third for Subaru in the americas with only 45' practice before races so you can have fun and be competitive even without practicing all day.

Just remember that in the FIA races the two most important things are qualy and playing the long game in the race. Don't destroy your tires, don't force a pass, don't put yourself or others in danger. Race smart, race clean, and results will come.

You have no races under your belt so you will be in hodgepodge rooms for a few races. I suggest doing a few Dailies to get up to SR 99 and get out of the DR E area. It will also help you to get used to the mechanics before you jump in to the FIA.

Keeping SR above 95 is imperative for good points. DR wise from B on up will net you some nice competitive lobbies.

Remember that only your best three of the eight Manufacturers races count in the coming exhibition season, and you only need to do each race once. If you totally mess up you can do the race again to see if you improve your points tally.

So you don't even have to dedicate yourself to the entire season. Skipping a race or two is no biggie unless you're at the top looking to get into the world finals.

That's what I do. Stick with the Wednesday and Saturday nights. Might do a couple laps to qualify and most times, I'm creating a livery or doing custom races.

Hey, you’ll be alright. Like you, I hadn’t raced online since GT5P, and I had no trouble getting back into it (even won my first Daily Race). As long as you know how to drive and have a basic understanding of race craft you’ll get back into the swing of things with no issues.

I don’t know how anyone is able to deal with the amount of snap in the Gr.2 cars. 25% throttle? No problem but slow through corners. 26%? You spin me right round baby right round starts playing in the background.

Sounds like you have too much rotation on the steering wheel when putting the power back on. And avoid the curbs, or be careful coming off the curbs, if the car isnt settled on its suspension then it will more easily turn around. Last chicane in particular, but turns 2, 4 and 6 can be tricky if your being careless

This, 100%. I may not be competing myself this year but I'm still invested in the competition as a spectator. I like this formula of having relatively few counting rounds, but ONLY if they go back to one-shot FIA. It made sense to allow reentry in the exhibition, so that players would not be denied fun that they could be having. But now it's time to reward consistency and performance under pressure again, especially since it's more lenient than the 5 out of 10 we had to deal with last year.

To elaborate on this:

The only way that entering every single race is beneficial is because (for example) in some rounds, the top split race will award 2000 points for the winner, and for other rounds it will award 2300 points for the winner. You won't know this before you enter the race, because it is entirely dependent on the strength of field algorithm.

Of course, you will have to be good enough to enter these races and get a good result in them in order to reap the rewards. Otherwise, you are probably better off to skip a few races, and use the extra practice time to focus on the races where the car and track suits you better.

For the record, I entered every round in the previous exhibition season and finished 16th. For this stage I will probably enter less rounds and spend more time practising for rounds where I am more comfortable with the car and circuit.

Ah, on second thought, if I can't switch brands, I'll sit the Manu's out. Just do the Nations races, Supra GT Cup and maybe join an SF19 League,one that's, hopefully, Australian time friendly.
