I like the Manu track. Anyone have an idea of what kind of lap times normal humans (mid DR B) will be running? I was running 33s last night with my optimal in the 32s. I’ll have some time to practice tomorrow with some ideas of where to grab some more speed.

My personal (limited) experience of being low DR B is I have to be around +3/3.5 from the aliens to have a decent grid position and that concerns me me because this track it's quite technical, you need to have proper lines to put down a good time. I'm afraid of how qualifying will work with traffic, mess up one turn and you don't have a decent line for the next one, it'll be interesting!

Based on that math, high 31/low 32 should be a decent target. I actually think this track will be a war of attrition. If I qualify well, I’ll be worried about braking points for the first couple of laps, and then I’ll just wait for the people in front of me to biff it. Someone is bound to run some of these corners wide in front of me, right? And I won’t make any mistakes myself , right? Hahahaha

Edit: The sausage curbs in the chicane are brutal time killers...the brake point to turn in and miss it was somewhat elusive to me. That, and consistently linking T1-2 should get me into the 32s no problem.

Round 2 hot laps

I hit 1:30.650 on a sim qualifying attempt.

nice. I saw the top 10 was all in the 1:29s, too. I’m guessing your DR is probably higher than my current 15000. I should post my KP chart. You can tell when I bought the wheel, haha (down 12,000 in the last week).

I don't do the practice thing attached to these events since it doesn't have tire wear. Times are not realistic.

Nabbed second place in today's Nations Cup race at Fuji! There was an absolute madlad in this lobby who managed to qualify in third place with the 993 RSCS in this sea of S-FR Racing Concepts but ultimately he ended in 17th place since he got punted off by someone else.

Though looking back at this grid, it honestly makes me wish they could rework N-Class races in the Nations Cup by adding additional restrictions to the races (ie. Ban detuned cars, requiring a certain weight threshold to participate (car must weigh more than 1000kg for example), or restrict cars based on country of origin, manufacturer, model family (Supra, M3/M4, Mustang, etc.), aspiration or era/decade) to streamline the car choice a little bit more. Or just forgo N-Class races altogether in favor of one-makes.

Just got back into GTS and I'm struggling with pace! I'm down to a 1.31.7 on the manu round at Dragon, but the top times are breaking into 1.29 during the practice races. I'd be happy with a mid 1.30 but I just cant see it. I'm using the Aston presently, does that stand a chance of being competitive? I noticed most of the guys are using the Lambo or Supra, but both of them are dogs to handle!

I haven't tried this track, but from having used the Lambo and Aston in the past, I'd class the Aston as being at the stable end of the spectrum, and the Lambo as being at the unstable end. In the hands of aliens, unstable cars are often faster than stable cars, as the aliens are able to control the extra rotation to get round corners faster.

The nobs and divebombers are out in force at Fuji today. No room given, plenty of swerving around on the straights and in braking zones, penalties everywhere.

Had a chap actually try to take me out four times in the last two laps, eventually giving me a 4s penalty after he stamped on the brakes before serving his own 1s penalty on the last lap. I lost one position, he lost five.

Edit: The entire bottom ten of that race were cancer. Swerving people off on straights, brakechecking, divebombs. Go back to COD you a-holes...

I had a disconnect at lap 9 of 11 for some odd reason, therefore, I will have to try again after Dinner

I did some laps in a private lobby and hit mid 30's with the Aston. Might be able to go a bit quicker but then you have to start thinking about the tradeoff of speed vs tire wear.

Shambolic stuff at the SF-R Cup race. First lap, at the left hander after the never-ending right I'm on the inside of someone going for a pass. Someone else comes flying up the inside, knocks me into the other guy, before I eventually go off. I get 1 second the other two get nothing. Here's the best part. There wasn't a reason given. It just flashed up 1.000.

Then on the last lap I was catching up on 6th and 7th as we were coming up to the final twisty section. I got a massive run out the right hander after the timing split and went for a move into the next right hander. The car at the front of the pair ahead cut across to take the corner as normal. I got 1 second, with another .5 somewhere for track limits. Ended up 9th.

Also had my qualifying blocked by some clown who turned up in the GRMN 86, didn't get out of a lap where he'd gone off, who started 18th. Good work all round.

It's just pitiful right now. People have no idea how to qualify - they just want the slipstream to start the lap and smash you off at any corner they can reach you - and then they get put in a dumb grid spot and smash through you in the race, and because they get a penalty they do it over and over again.

Moronic.

Oh this sounds promising..
Just about to go here. Tried so many cars but nothing beats the Toyota in braking points. Differs some 25m on the long straight. So sad.

Would have gone worth my alt if I read this earlier

Edit: qualifying was 2,5 sec slower than practice because ppl just have to pretend its race and fight for positions.. let's see how race forms now

Cheers - it seems too stable for it's own good, great for getting back into racing but perhaps not ideal for setting the quickest times. I'm back in my favourite folly, the Porsche RSR. Managed to get an optimum of 1.31.2xx during a practice race so a bit of progress. It's a bit more malleable when it comes to adjusting the angle with the throttle, but the trade off is that it's a ruddy nightmare over the sausage kerb in the chicane of death.

I have just loaded the RSR ghost from the top 10 leaderboard which is a low 1.29 - will have a crack in the morning. TRL Lightnings time is crazy, 1.28.6xx in the Lambo!

Well, I've just had a race that would have been enjoyable if only for being exactly as hard and fair as a proper good race should be...

... but then I won it. So yay. Didn't actually take the lead until turn one on the final lap, and we ran side-by-side for most of the first half of it.

Apparently the back of the grid was a catastrophe though. Seems that if you're in 8th or lower, say your prayers.

Grand Theft Auto Online racing in public lobbies would welcome them with open arms. Used to race there a lot before GT Sport came out, and holy heck, people over there were (and probably still are) filthy.

My first race is in about 30 min. I'm not liking the sound of things so far. And I've worked really hard to get a decent lap time on this combo.

If that is in the "practice" section of Sport mode (attached to the event) then I wouldn't put much stock into those times, they are unrealistic since tire wear is not on.

Today I decided I not going to be nice from now on I going to do to them as they do to me to hell with my SR & DR.
I tired off poor driving I tired off giving space but yet being push off the road.
Everyone is complaining that the penalties system is to much .. today it have to disagree it's not hard enough.
I was fourth & could off been 1st but was hit from behind.
And that fool could of got second but got thrid in front off me and decided on the 1st corner to brake early which made me react and in came the bombs from hell.
You can imagine the rest.

Not only did I have it in the race I had it in qually too.
Stupid idiots in S-FR ‘s thinking they can dive bomb from 100 meters behind you got in to 1st twice in two races and taken out twice took a 5th place in 3rd race of the night and turned off , PD really should put some more thought in to these races as it’s stupid having two cars like that against each other .

Qualifying was such a wreck that I started from 20th. Which may have been a blessing in disguise. I ended up finishing 12th, thought I could've finished higher but the clump of cars knotted around 10th was awfully bumpy & edgy.

Ended up in what I believe was 2nd split which ended most hope of a good result. Decided to drive on my own in quali in clean air expecting some shenanigans for everyone else but it wasn't to be and I started way back. Race was ok was in a battle for most of the race but probably should've been more aggressive in the last few laps so in the end not a great result.

Just did the first Nations slot for the Americas, and it was an "OK" result. Fuji's always been one of my least favorite tracks, but the S-FR is one of my favorite in-game cars because of its silly "angry fish" face. I even painted mine (the road and race versions) to look like Kirby (the big-mouthed Nintendo character). It's actually literally the only time I haven't hated driving a "meta" car. I qualified 5th but couldn't ever figure out the braking points in traffic and erred on the side of caution, which kept me from fighting for spots and in the end I fell down to 9th at one point as other cars were just able to brake later than me. They never ran me off track, but were just more confident. For a few laps I was by myself in 9th and actually keeping pace with the leaders. 5th -7th were battling hard, which allowed me and 8th place to catch them again. 2 people in front of me got into a shoving match for no reason and gave the innocent bystander directly in front of me in 8th a 0.5s penalty (and nearly took me out as well). I was in 6th with a few laps left and once again I had a small gap behind and in front of me. I slowly gained on 5th, but unfortunately 7th gained on me even faster and my lack of confidence under braking was my downfall again as I failed to hold off both him and the car in 8th. In the end I finished 8th with 135 pts, continuing my general result of finishing worse than I start snce switching from the DS4 to the G29. Interestingly, I seemed to be way quicker than the other drivers in the twisty portion of the track, which is usually my least favorite section.

I'm tempted to run this race again to try for a better result, as my general pace is better than 8th, but my general dislike of the track makes me think I won't be able to figure out the braking zones in traffic any time soon. Plus with so many complaints of terrible driving, maybe I should just count myself lucky to have had an "ok" result in my first race and just leave it at that...

I just had the most sensational race on Nations tonight. Probably the most intense, clean and dramatic race I ever had in GT Sport... For sure I will never forget that one.

Started on pole after bottled my first lap on qualy. I tried to break the toe on the cars behind but I messed up completely my braking point and I was forced to drive myselft out of the track to don't ruin the laps of other drivers.

On the second lap, I was able to get the slipstream and that did payoff with the 2.00.4, only 0.013 ahead of P2.

The whole race was a fight between me, P2 (911) P3 (SF-R), as we just managed to open a big gap on P4. It was a really clean race, with a lot of moves and the most dramatic finish. I will try to upload the replay of the race.

So happy with the win, which gave me 254 points!
