The points are higher in the races with the better drivers precisely because they're looking for the best drivers to compete in the live events.
The Nations Cup selects the best drivers from each nation (there's a maximum number per nation, which differs in each region) from the best drivers in the region as determined by their scores, and they compete as individuals. The Manufacturer Series selects the best drivers in each region from each manufacturer, and they compete as a team.
There'd be little point giving the same score for each race regardless of driver rating, because that wouldn't help find the best drivers - you'd end up with incompetent makeweights, and no incentive for the actual best drivers to take part and invest time in it if some random at DR D got the nod over them because he'd beaten all the other DR Ds in five out of ten races.
If you want to be one of the best drivers, you need to have one of the best DR scores first, and then beat the other best drivers by racing against them. Lesser-skilled 100m runners aren't going to the Olympics if they beat a bunch of schoolkids in 17 seconds.
The 'team' aspect comes from the fact that if someone from your nation or your manufacturer does well in the season, or at a live event, you get bonus credits and mileage points to share in their success.
Thank you for the reply.
My posting was not meant to be from the viewpoint of a “whiney noob”. Apologies to all if that is how it appeared.
I did say in my post that there has to be some disparity in the points gained by level. What I was trying to highlight was that as a lesser skilled driver I feel that my contributions to these events as they stand are minimal at best.
As I said, I am under no illusion as to my skill standing both current and potential. I will never be one of the best drivers. What I want to be is simply a fair opponent, competent driver and valued contributor to events. I agree that only the best should appear at live events to showcase the game.
